*We purchased this after moving, and previously had a spotlight **Newest.Technology** cam with solar power. The wired pro cam has much better light (about the same as a bright porch light), and the image is significantly more clear with much better details.*
For me the main reason why a local NVR is the best is because I have a dedicated TV mounted in the hall that displays the cameras live using the NVRs HDMI out. This feature alone i think is very overlooked.
Great review! I am looking over a couple different models through Costco for my home. One is the dome style (4 camera bundle) and the other is bullet (6 camera bundle). Is there a big difference between the two? Seem pretty similar as far as specs go though the bullet bundle comes with DVR and the dome camera bundle is NVR. That I am not so sure which is better...
I wanted to know what happens when the 2TB of storage runs out Or is it that the videos are discarded automatically after a certain period of time to make more space on the hardrive?
Hello, Awesome video. I am still deciding, I have quick questions: 1) Does this system have Motion sensor instead of Passive Infra red? I read PIR are bad because of insects and stuff triggering the notifications constantly. 2) Does it have POE? 3) Once mounted, can you adjust position of camera as desired and later adjust it again? 4) Does it have IP login from web browser? Thanks in advance
1 - It technically has both if you disable motion detect you can still get other person/vehicle detections. It still uses passive IR though so bugs can still be detected in motion. 2 - yes this is POE 3 - yes you can adjust this 4 - yes but the interface is lackluster
I am amazed that you could tell me literally everything I wanted to ask about the camera system in six minutes. This is deserving of a "I tip my hat off to you Sir". Also, could you be able to give me some information as to the new systems Lorex is selling, Lorex 4K UHD 8 channel Fusion NVR security system, with smart deterrence 4K Cameras Model Model TN84428AF8SK-E Thanks Sir.
Hi Victory, thanks! So I'm not trying to jump the gun here but I should have a new review released in the next week or two showing the new wireless 2k System they have which has been surprisingly great to use! In about a month or two I will have a new 2022 4k NVR system review released as well. Until then, I'm not 100% sure how it will compare.
@@GadgetryTech I am looking forward to see the videos from you Sir. My situation is different in that I have to use a wired system. The wireless feature is a great thing but it really hogs ones Wi-Fi system and slowest it down. Was thinking to use the hard wire power over the ethernet cable. Also, I need a long distance of vision because my property to monitor is 120 to 150 feet long all around the house. This a problem since night vision somehow does not see that well in the distance I was told by a few security guys in the biz. The inferred also can be seen and gives away camera locations. The no glow is all the rage now. Does Lorex have any dinomite bullet camera that fill the bill ??? Also, having eight to ten cams would work for me and how many terabytes of space would be needed to have a month videos without the system rerecording over the previously filmed videos. Please drop you thought on this matter Sir and thank you too. Peace.
Be very careful when selecting Lorex products that are not part of the original Lorex system kit. Lorex frequently announces new products that ARE NOT compatible with earlier products. Lorex has a extremely poor track record when it comes to releasing firmware updates for their hardware. They would rather you buy all new hardware to get the features you want rather than update the firmware an letting you use the existing Lorex hardware you already own. For Example: a year ago they release a new 16 Channel Smart NVR (the N861B Series) with smart camera mode E891AB. Months later they announced the a newer 16 Channel Smart NVR - (the N862B Series) with smart camera model E892AB. The NVRs have pretty much the same identical smart features and the camera look identical.. BUT.. while the newer of the two NVRs will work with either smart camera (E891AB or E892AB) the earlier 16 channel N861B Series will only work with camera E891AB because the NVR lacks the firmware to use smart features in model E892AB camera) They make matching cameras to systems difficult at best. In regards to your question... the Lorex Doorbell is Wifi and will only work on their newer Fusion series NVR's that accept both POE and WifI attached cameras. If you have an earlier POE only NVR then consider the Yousee SD-M5 connected to your Lorex NVR via a Ubiquiti INS-3AF-I-G Indoor Gigabit Adapter available from Amazon. The Ubiquiti adapter changes the voltage so the SD-M5 doorbell will work with your Lorex POE NVR. I have the SD-M% connecteed to my Lorex NVR via a the referenced Ubiquti adapter and it works great (the hard part is running a Cat5 cable to your doorbell area) www.ipcamtalk.com/threads/yoosee-sd-m5-doorbell-1080p-poe-rtsp-onvif-only-66.40569/
Neither this video nor the "in depth review" identify the model number of the specific Lorex system kit you are reviewing. Problem: Lorex makes dozens of 4K NVR configurations some are better than others... some are "smart" systems like the one in this videos and other are not. Unfortunately someone may buy a 4K system from Lorex based on this video only to discover the one they selected is not smart and will not work with the Lorex Home app as shown. Do your viewers a HUGE favor and mention the model numbers of both the NVR and Cameras your are reviewing!!!
@@GadgetryTech You got that right! If there is any traffic noise or someone running a power mower nearby forget it. The speaker in these cameras is a joke. They need to built in an amplifier to make them effective.

The review is great. Can you tell if the hard drive is noisy? I have heard people complaining about the fan. Thanks!
The hard drive is very quiet, at least on my 3tb model. The fan is louder than a cable box DVR but not by much.
Just one question: how do you power it off?? I need to move it to another area of the building and not sure I should just unplug it.
Can you add IP cameras that are running on the same network?
Thanks for both versions
You bet!
Nice review. BTW also nice poster on the wall - fsociety. :-)

@@GadgetryTech hi great video. I'm a new subscriber. Can you yell us which is now best as far as cameras go since it's a year old? Thank youm
Hi, when the storage is filled on my 2TB camera what happens? Or does storage run out?
Hi,
How many live feeds can you have using the Apple TV or IOS App, or Fire TV App?
From what I can tell the apps support up to 9 feeds at once.
GadgetryTech that great thank you.
Your in-depth full review video link in the description has been removed??
For some reason, UA-cam changed the short-code links for both videos. This has been fixed. Thanks so much for pointing this out!

is there an updated version?
What’s the absolute max amount of cameras is it 16 or 8?
For the particular system he's reviewing the max is 8 as mentioned at :46 in this video

Done. The model in this review was the NK183-48AB, which uses the same NVR as many 4K Smart models.
this is a great product
great job
Do they have 2 way talk??
Yes they do but are not very loud.

How to connect with computer
Hi, were you able to connect it to your computer as well as tv?
i bought it so garbage
Garbage
Do you need to buy power supply when using this camaras
These use PoE Ethernet so no need to run power. Just a single Ethernet from the NVR to each camera.
