I think if you mount up the tv in the sitting room it’ll fill in the space a little bit better and you won’t have to cram it with things that’ll just end up making it cluttered. Also I know you didn’t ask but I think two full couches in the sitting room make the space look smaller. I think changing the couch that leads into the dining room for two chairs would open up the space more and make the transition from the sitting room into the dining room more seamless. As for the nightstand, I think the best way to remove the paint from the cracks would be to take it apart, but I wouldn’t do that for such a small piece, so I would paint them.
Elena Pauli Nails That happened to me when I first moved out. You get so many things from family members that you end up with a bunch of unnecessary things. Eventually though, you donate or discard what you didn’t end up using. I feel like she still has quite some time before she gets to that point.
Hang the TV on the wall. The space/ cabinet will look less cluttered. Try paint stripper on stubborn paint. I like them in the wood finish, don't paint them. But I did prefer the other handle.
You cold use liquid paint stripper and dab some on the parts you can't reach. Should scrape off easily then! Great video but you definitely need some plants to bring your rooms to life!
I like the natural wood finish on the tables! It looks good! Also what if you mounted your TV? That would take up a little bit more space on the wall making it feel less lonely. But also purposeful.
Get a Dremel with a skinny sanding bit and you should be able to sand out in between the cracks of your side tables. I say don’t repaint! The natural wood looks lovely. 😌
JUST A SUGGESTION ABOUT THE TABLES: If you don't want to paint ... Find a brown marker and color with it it where the white shows.. easy fix :) Love your work and your home looks beautiful !!
Please paint the big antique mirror at 6:06 in the same colour as the opposite accent wall ! 👍😊 That would move the room together (and the current mirror frame colour is not nice in my opinion :/
I think it would be great to mount the tv (basically at the same height it already is) and then do a floating shelf above that you can lean artwork and decor on.i think it’ll clear up space and spread out your treasures! Looks great, Hermione!
You need a pop of colour on the other side of the room. A green plant would bring some life into it. And you can mount the TV on the wall, so that it becomes the focal point on that side. You have great taste 😉 I'm sure you'll find a good solution. As for the side tables, may look good in gray as the stripes on your bed board
That colour made such an amazing difference! Really good choice, it adds a really nice balance to the room. Does it have a name? I would love to know. As for the other wall, I would suggest getting your tv up a bit higher, and add plants, definitely, a nice statement plant in that corner!
Paint just the top of the bedside table - something different like dark gray chalk paint. Do the edges too distress it a bit. Or try cottage white or gold edges. Whatever you choose do the edges too like a little reveal. For the TV wall try a gallery wall with the TV as the biggest piece. That way when you are not watching the TV it blends in with the other art.
I love the new paint color in your sitting room it brightens up the space and makes it more homey and cozy. I also love the natural wood of your bedside tables adds more warmth to your bedroom. For the paint you couldn't remove from the corners, you can paint them in a gold color to mimic metal plates or buy gold color metal corner brackets to hide the paint and protect the corners of the tables. I also like the gold handles that you had on them before better than the ones you put on now. Your TV mount it on the wall and you will have less clutter on the cabinet and it will visually look better. Hope these tips help, you're doing an amazing job in your home and I always look forward in seeing your next videos! 😃💚
Love the paint color in the sitting room! It really warms the room up and makes your fireplace stand out as the focal point. I would mount the TV on the wall, and maybe do some cool DIY covers to hide the electronics on the table. If the wall still feels empty, you could do a floating shelf above the TV to display some decor.
I can't be the only one who thinks the paint looks more green than blue 😅 It looks pretty regardless and maybe it's the camera but it looks more green to me lol
Love the garden and the desk! Above the TV, choose some cute lights and have a couple of loops above the TV. This well help when the TV isn't on, so instead of the focus being the black hole of the TV, you have pretty twinklies above. For the bedside tables, paint that little area by the drawer black.
For your crease in the nightstand my uncle does carpentry and he uses a spinning nail file that they’d use while you get acrylics! He said it works amazingly !!
Overall, great color (and other) choices with very nice execution. Regarding the bedside tables, get some very metallic acrylic paint or some gold leaf (or Dutch metal/gold foil) with size and just cover those two little bits in gold metallic. You can always decide to put a little gold somewhere else here or there (or not). A little sparkle symmetrically spaced always looks planned and classy
I would put molding on the wall like those large French squares that add decor to the walls without putting color. It would match your antique mirror and your fireplace. And for the corners of that table I would use a dremmel tool. It’s like a hand held tool with lots of tips to do any kind of sanding of cutting and carving. I have one it’s been very useful with small awkward projects.
I'm in LOVE with that paint colour. I would mount the tv and put two little candle sconces on either side of the tv. Then the tv stand is open for simple decorations and will look less cluttered
As soon as you showed those side tables, I thought they would look great painted with black chalkboard paint! I don't know if that would work with the room, but black chalkboard is sooo fun, it's a little farmhouse-y, but I feel like it works in any style of space! Just make sure that if you want to use chalk to draw or write on it, your cure it first! (give it a good coat of chalk all over, erase it and then clean it, so that the things you write on it don't stay apparent when you try and erase it!)
Guess what, I was missing Hermione Chantal's videos today and I decided to binge watch your old videos (5 years old) and loooook who surprises me with a new video ❤❤❤❤❤❤ I binge watched all the thrifty haul videos and many more. Every video is so great.
I'd put pics or a photo shelf over the tv because that wall is really high. As for the bedside table, i don't think it goes well with the pastel theme of the room. I would stain it lighter or paint it. Plus your new handles just melt into the wood background with no contrast. You would need to accentuate them with a different color for the wood. Cannot wait for the garden makeover though! I'm sure it will turn out great. All that exposed wall around would make a nice backdrop for hanging pots or vine.
Paint the bed side tables in the blue/green from the lounge. Such a lush colour and very versatile. Fabulous work in this update Hermione 🙌 Such an inspiration to soldier on with my reno.
Greetings from Canada, Hermione!! The wall color is lovely!!! In regards to the TV wall.....sometimes less is more. If you busy up the wall above the TV your eyes won't rest and focus on whatever you're watching. ❤
dont worry about going back over rooms and changing things. That is fun! Here are some ideas; hang tv on the wall, or put up a bunting across this area. Then you can change this according to seasons? Cluttered corner in the lounge room: take out the pouf and add a plant and photo to round table, or change the table. Can the pouf go somewhere else. Beside tables: paint the crevice in the bedside table with a bronze, gold whatever colour your handles are. And if you want to get rid of the round table in the lounge room, could it go next to the bed to be more eclectic? Cant wait to see what idea from all of the suggestions from your viewers that you use.
I think you should do a floating shelf above the tv so you can arrange the decor for the season and it won’t be as distracting. For the side table, you should feel in the areas with a copper metallic to tie in the handle you choose in the crevices 😊
I love wood in a bright white space! Adds I don't but of warmth and natural tones to ground the space a bit. But I would change the handles for something that pops against the wood tone.
As almost everyone before suggested I would definitely get one if these arms for the TV. We have one and it is amazing. We move the TV the way we need it depending on where we sit (couch or dining table).
Yes, I've become quite creative at figuring out how to do things without help. I love the paint color, the brickwork in the backyard & what you did with the table. You are doing a fabulous job!
I think you should paint the entire room in the same colour, it's lovely. It would give the white wall some life as well, especially when contrasting with the white door frames etc.
I didnt even think of mounting the tv but I also think that is a great idea. Mr.Kate does that very often so if you find one of her videos you can see how to do it with the cords hidden. I was thinking instead of slapping a piece of art up there, do a hanging plant from the side above the mirror and then do a hanging light on the other side. I would hang the light lower then the plant or the other way around and that will add more interest to the spot. And if you do this with the mounted tv I think it will look chic.
Mount the TV and put decorative plants and/or other decor underneath. To get the little spots of paint off, use Qtips dipped in paint remover and rub it off. Yes, get rid of that round table. A tall overhanging floor lamp might look nice there. I love the accent wall. Turned out very nice.
Love your wall! We wallpapered our diningroom in a beautiful bird/floral print. I had paint matched to the paper's background color which is a greenish blue, so lovely. We painted our livingroom that color. It changes hues depending on the light.
On The table edges, i sugguest u get a piece of thin wood, tie sand paper around it, and push it through, a lot easier to remove the paint, than trying only with sand paper. Make sure the wooden piece is able to fit into the area where the paint is.
The night stands try knive with sandpaper! I would put living room wall something soft like those rugs you have made before. Same kind of rug but bigger. I have seen rug made out with fabric and fabric paint and some ruffles, lace or something like that. Paula
Feel like mounting the TV on the wall would work really nicely and then you can move the side board a little bit further away from the mirror so it doesn’t look as cluttered. Means you have more surface space for you cute decor pieces too !
I think the night stand looks great! I woulllllldddd maybe see if you can get a marble tile (or something similar) for the top just to make it look more finished. :)
Mount TV on wall. Hang some big DIY paper flowers above. Big plant in macrame hanger in corner above mirror. I like nitestands natural wood, try paint stripper on a q tip for top corners to remove paint. Great job!!! Instead of pouf in corner next to sofa get a cool floor lamp.
I love the table. I think you should do the other one the same. I like the wood look. If you want to get the paint out of that groove, you could use a small round woodworking file. Awesome video and DIY’s.
About the nightstand, I really like that you gave it its wood color back. So pretty. About the paint residues, maybe you could find a paint color that matches the wood color and purchase a sample size of it to cover them up? Since its so small...
Nail files are great for little places and removal of paint. Alternatively you could fill them and highlight them with some metalic paint that matches the handles. Small fine artist brush works amazing.
Another great video Hermoine. The colour on the wall is beautiful and really contrasts well with the white walls and furnishings. Regarding the wall opposite, I think the space should be left clear. I've noticed a trend over the last 4 years or so for content makers on social media who do home renovations, to want to fill every space with something. In my opinion a clear wall, alcove, nook etc can actually accentuate the beauty of a room and proportions as well as draw the eye to furnishings, features, ornaments etc already in place. That said, it is your home so it needs to be a place that makes you happy and not others. I'm sure you will make the decision which is right for you. x
I love those new handles on the bedside table. Gorgeous :) You could paint the irritating bits and the top edge of the drawer for a little bit of colour? Don’t know how good it’ll look on those tables, but I’ve seen it done beautifully.
Yes, looks like more than a few have suggested mounting the TV on the wall, that would solve the space issue and it would look clean and finished. As far as the nightstand goes, if you use paint remover in the crack, then a scrapper should work into that small space. Painting would be the last resort because it matches the feel of your room better leaving it natural.
I would hang the TV up a bit lower then the top vertical line of the mirror and do a collection of glass vases (or antique crusty bottles) of different shapes and colors as a cute low focal point when the TV is off. Some vases and some open vases on a pillar that you can put a tealight candle in. Basically preserving the ability to use the top of the cabinet as a shelf. Oh- streighten the mirror to get maximum height for your display space.
I love the wall colour, it really makes a difference. Much more cozy. As others have suggested, I would mount the TV on the wall. Also I would paint that sideboard that the TV is on as I feel there’s too many different styles of furniture and woods in the room. But overall its looking really great 👍🏻
You could use a liquid or gel paint stripper in those awkward gaps in the bedside tables. No need to buy it by the gallon - your local hardware shop or warehouse will carry small tubs or bottles. And I agree with all the other people who suggested hanging the TV on the wall and freeing up space on the cabinet.
You could always hang some pretty lights from the ceiling above the tv :) Maybe ones with a battery pack and a remote control so you don't have to worry about an outlet?
Love the accent wall color. If u are going to keep the TV in the sitting room I'd mount it on the wall . As for the bedside tables, try using a liquid or gel paint stripper to get it down to plain wood.
I like the new accent wall. I think a shelf above the tv with just plants would look nice. I have a shelf exactly the size of my dexk/tv stand. . Right below it I have a very narrow beloved "street sign" WANDERLUST. Then on down to the tv. I do not have much on the desk with the tv. I do not think the space looks cluttered but nicely balanced. I think you should paint the sidetables with chalk paint and seal it. I painted all 5 pieces in my bedroom without much sanding. It has held up really well and looks nice. That grass looks so lush. Look forward to the garden.
Mount the TV. It will help with the "clutter" feeling in the TV unit and then decide on a nice horizontal piece to go above it. However, keep in mind that busyness around the TV does make it look cluttered as soon as switch the TV on.
Put in a gallery wall, maybe some good accents. You could spray paint the mirror gold then add some gold frames, like one of two then some pink ones, and it might warm up that side a bit
I had the same problem with a dressing table i was given for my daughter. Stripped all of the old paint off and some refused to be removed from one corner. I tried eerything but in the end i found that if you use pure acetone, the stuff you use to remove nail polish but not nail polish remover, it has to be pure acetone. Rub it in with a cotton pad then scrap away the paint. It really does work. As for the wall in your living room, I know people are saying that you should hang the TV on the wall but what about hanging a woven piece there. I have an old rug hanging from one of my walls, just attached it to a wood dowel and hung it up. Something in a soft colour, it could add a bit of texture to your wall with out being over powering.
You could get a lovely high entertainment unit/tv stand for the room. I got myself an electric fireplace to put my tv on ad it looks great. I don't, however, have your amazing high ceilings.
I love the bedside in wood, try a razor blade to get rid of that last bit of paint maybe and if that doesn’t work maybe a thin layer of wood filler to match the wood of the bedside, thinned out like a paint. Love your work!
I love the colour and it adds some warmth I personally think all white rooms look cold and I not inviting. The little table you could cut up dvds make a mosaic and cover with resin I have seen that done and it looks fab. I would add some pictures in the white space I would paint the side tables
Put the television on the wall!!!!! I just read an article about decorating to make you place you more luxury like and richer...1st on the list was to mount the tv...Keeping it like you have now makes your home appear more like a dorm. Also, It will appear less cluttered on the top of that wonderful dresser you redid. You have such wonderful old things.....
I like the natural wood of the night stands. I noticed it on your last video! I'd say very carefully use paint stripper or some acetone on a Q tip (so you don't damage the varnish you put on!) Also! Definitely mount the TV! Then you can put decor bits underneath it!
My opinion.. you can put a shilf above the tv to put your pretty vases on it and the round table is not in place so as you sejust to put a plant in that corner to bring a little bit of green in the setting room.. 😊.. good luck on your projects
Your night stands look fine with the raw wood color. If you feel compelled to paint, then a dark grey would look good because it would compliment the colored stripes on your headboard. If you plan on changing the headboard in the near future, then wait to see and then paint them a complimentary color to the headboard...
The garden looks great! As for the sitting room, I have Many thoughts hahaha. First of all, love the paint! But if I were you, I would take out the current bookshelves and make fitted floating shelves, makes the space less crammed. And I would do those shelves on both sides. For the tv I would maybe mount it on the wall, on the tv stand you can then put some nice books. I wouldn’t put more stuff in the corner of your mirror, because it makes the space seem smaller when you cram every corner full of stuff. I would then live a gallery wall for the dining room. It would maybe also be nice to switch one of the couches out for 2 chairs, to make the space feel more open and more connected to the dining room. The bed side tables I absolutely loooveee like this! Maybe you can try St. Marc paint dissolver? (Don’t know if they sell it in the uk) and otherwise maybe paint the top white with the wooden legs? I love some natural wood🙈. Good luck!!
I adored the old handles! I think you could paint the top a clean white or maybe colour-dip and leave the bottom part of the legs unpainted. Loved the accent wall colour. Can't wait to see the garden update! p.s. lol at the bird poop
I love your garden videos. If you used a little paint stripper you could get the paint out of the corners of the bedside table. Personally, I think you should paint them. And put a nice piece of glass on the top. Like for example, beveled mirrors. What colors are in your bedspread that you like the most? If you have anything in your bedspread that would look good with navy blue, that would be pretty. It's hard for me to see the exact colors in your bedspread. Your paint job downstairs looks really nice too. Your house is coming along beautifully.
I like the idea of a wall mounted tv and maybe a long thin rectangular art piece above it in abstract muted blues/grey paints OR if you dont mount the tv to have a more sizable art piece in the same paint colours mentioned above!
I'm loving your accent wall great color you chose. I think a beautiful macrame decor piece would look so pretty above the TV. Your garden is going to look lovely once it's complete. Great video!! 😘
Option 1. Mount the TV and then use a very basic decoration to the sides and/or below such as ivy, simple pottery or figures, or even a lace or crochet runner along the entertainment center. Option 2. 1 wide print, preferably an abstract, above the TV. I would still advise raising the TV. Keep the print pale and basic, and perhaps DIY it yourself using the main colors through the room. In your case, white, the new wall color, some light beiges and gold would do well if you dry brush them along a canvas. Make sure it's wider than the TV. It'll level the room without making it to crowded or distracting. Option 3. Buy a bigger TV.
LOVE the paint color as a focal wall !!! It just brings the wall up a notch. I personally like the wood in the bed side tables. I don't know how to get that paint out if you've used so many things to already ???
You could add a large canvas behind the TV in the style of Rothko.. kind of colour wash blocks which would add interest to the wall but not distract from TV watching. I'd also stain the bedside table again using a watered down blackish down stain tomake the handle pop. Then you could go over the white crumbs if paint you can't get rid of in black marker
Love the accent wall. You can probably just use a chemical stripper to remove old paint off baseboards without having to replace. I agree with mounting tv. That will take more off the wall space and then if it needs more art you can add. Bedside table looks nice in natural wood. Try chemical strip in that stubborn area and use some dollar store wood screwers to scrap first. If you need more use a dollar store dental kit with that little hook on end. Sounds crazy but I have had success with that approach.
Hermoine you can take a toothbrush and paint thinner to the corner, cover the surrounding area in plastic and tape, or works wonders. Usually best to do before you stain but it should be ok
Hermione, I love the blue gray accent wall. I don’t think the problem will be solved by hanging the TV. If you hang the TV, you will have to deal with the electric cables that connect it. The solution may be to bring in a taller piece of furniture to place the TV on. Or as one person suggested built ins. Or how about a wardrobe with doors that could conceal the TV when not in use. With your tall tall ceilings I think you need something large to ground that large black TV. Something larger may even help balance the height on that lovely mirror. Many have suggested plants for that wall, but, if your fica plant didn’t have enough light, would a plant wall have enough light? Your channel is such a delight to watch. And having lived in an turn of the century home for over twenty years, I applaud you on taking on this challenge.
I think if you mount up the tv in the sitting room it’ll fill in the space a little bit better and you won’t have to cram it with things that’ll just end up making it cluttered. I was going to say the exact same thing! Mounting the tv and then removing one of the couches and adding chairs makes the flow so much nicer.
Yes!!!!!😫 I love her videos but sometimes I feel like she has way too many items in such a small space which her house seems pretty spacious?
Elena Pauli Nails That happened to me when I first moved out. You get so many things from family members that you end up with a bunch of unnecessary things. Eventually though, you donate or discard what you didn’t end up using. I feel like she still has quite some time before she gets to that point.
agree. mounted TVs usually look so much better.
I feel like it would look amazing if you mounted the tv on the wall! either that tv or treat YOSELF to a bigger one to fill the space more!
Gabriella ♡ ayyy love ya Gabs! Been watching you for 6 ish years 😂
Hang the TV on the wall. The space/ cabinet will look less cluttered. Try paint stripper on stubborn paint. I like them in the wood finish, don't paint them. But I did prefer the other handle.
Yup definitely gold handle

I heard that you can't get paint stripper in Europe that they don't sell it.
@@jaimeepatton8925 I don't know the legality for paint stripper outside of the UK, it's widely available here from most DIY outlets.
Jaimee Patton they sell paint stripper heat guns
They do sell it.
Jaimee Patton you can get it in the uk and Europe actually!
I like the natural wood finish on the tables! It looks good! Also what if you mounted your TV? That would take up a little bit more space on the wall making it feel less lonely. But also purposeful.
Exactly!

I would hang the light lower then the plant or the other way around and that will add more interest to the spot. And if you do this with the mounted tv I think it will look chic.
I think a nice black and white or maybe plant print on the other wall will tie in the painted wall together. Like adhesive wallpaper!
Mount the TV and put decorative plants and/or other decor underneath. To get the little spots of paint off, use Qtips dipped in paint remover and rub it off. Yes, get rid of that round table. A tall overhanging floor lamp might look nice there. I love the accent wall. Turned out very nice.
Paint thinner might help get it off! And you can just chisel it out afterwards.
Also I think a white wash would great and fit your room really well!

I'm sure you will make the decision which is right for you. x
You could mount the TV and do a minimal gallery wall. Simple gold frames, classy and simplistic black and white prints.
I love those new handles on the bedside table. Gorgeous :)
You could paint the irritating bits and the top edge of the drawer for a little bit of colour?
But overall its looking really great 👍🏻
Hermione I love all of you projects and you play really cool music in your videos
I love your living room. And that light gray/blue made it extra special.
I think the bed side table looks gorgeous without paint. As a tip to get the paint off easier is to take them apart ☺️
I would add some pictures in the white space
I would paint the side tables
Put the television on the wall!!!!! I just read an article about decorating to make you place you more luxury like and richer...1st on the list was to mount the tv...Keeping it like you have now makes your home appear more like a dorm. Also, It will appear less cluttered on the top of that wonderful dresser you redid. You have such wonderful old things.....
Also some remote control nice electric pillar candles would be lovely in the fireplace
I like the natural wood of the night stands. I noticed it on your last video! I'd say very carefully use paint stripper or some acetone on a Q tip (so you don't damage the varnish you put on!)
Also!
You could have the paint store color match your wood on the bedside table. Use a tiny brush to dab the brown over any paint you can’t get off.
Such a beautiful grown up sophisticated colour!
Hey, I always use a nail file to remove the paint in corners that are hard to get into. Maybe this will work for you, too.
For the bedside table, I'd go with a contrasting handle.
Thanks for inspiring me to make my house cute (and clean) lol
Hang a shelf over the tv! You can add storage and more plants 🌱
I like the idea of a wall mounted tv and maybe a long thin rectangular art piece above it in abstract muted blues/grey paints OR if you dont mount the tv to have a more sizable art piece in the same paint colours mentioned above!
ALSO I would paint those little corners with some gold leaf to add a pop but still make it subtle and cover the paint situation!
I'm loving your accent wall great color you chose. I think a beautiful macrame decor piece would look so pretty above the TV. Your garden is going to look lovely once it's complete. Great video!! 😘
You could use a Dremel tool for the sanding of small cracks on the side tables, they come with many attachments great for projects.
You could put a hanging plant above the tv, and/or as other suggest mount the tv on the wall 🌿
Option 3. Buy a bigger TV.
now that's a gorgeous paint colour!!!
LOVE the paint color as a focal wall !!! It just brings the wall up a notch. I personally like the wood in the bed side tables. I don't know how to get that paint out if you've used so many things to already ???
ok, you are the QUEEN of accent walls. and home decor. and DIY. I'm obsessed! :D
Wrap loose sandpaper around a common (flat head) screw driver and it should do the job to get the rest of the paint out of the cracks.
I think you should mount the living room TV. And for the stubborn paint in nooks and crannies you could try a chemical paint stripper.
Above the tv a long shelf with some prints and plants would look lovely ♡
Hermoine you can take a toothbrush and paint thinner to the corner, cover the surrounding area in plastic and tape, or works wonders. Usually best to do before you stain but it should be ok
You can also put paint thinner in a cotton swab and let it sit for a bit before using a nail file.
oh i love the bedside table like that!
