I always lose it when the Officer goes to parade rest and corrects himself, and the tone of the Staff Sergeant is hilarious when he says "please don't make me do it the privates are watching"

We had a green-to-blue ex-Army MSgt in our USAF squadron. He's very strict about regulation, and called out our NCOIC for cuffed sleeves. Little did he know we've been able to cuff for years. One highlighted AFI later he took it on the chin.
Now we can double cuff. You cannot stop us.

@@DMF121 Ah see here in the South "Bless your heart" is basically saying "Oh you poor baby". Usually you hear it in a sarcastic tone after someone complained about something. Basically saying suck it up and stop being a lil wimp. Or also sometimes it's used to insunuate that someone is an idiot while trying to be nice. "Becky tried filling up her Tesla with gas today bless her heart the poor thing".

The sergeant has more years and experience under their belt, and they are the ones running the platoon often. The common saying is the sergeant will hand over command to the lieutenant when they feel they are ready for it. NCOs are the grease keeping the branches running.
Some new lieutenants are very gung ho, always salute me, by the book, and don't always get along well with their sergeants, and that causes trouble with respect and loyalty. Others are like the one shown here and intimidated, knowing the sergeant is the one with experience and time served.
