Have you been to Jellabina or Yellabina Rocks? Tell me in the comments.

Are these to the east or west of the main track?

Hey Stefan. Granite is formed by molten rock (often in magma chambers under volcanoes) cooling and crystallizing underground. So when you come across it above ground it’s often there due to erosion and/or seismic lift etc. (my Dad is a geologist so I grew up with this stuff). The Googs track is on my list of places to go and I’ll definitely make the side trip to see Jellabinna for sure. It looks amazing. Thanks for the video.

Another great video Stefan, have enjoyed following along on your adventure. We didn't have the mozzies when we were there in June as it was bone dry but also missed out on the beautiful greenery.

AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV worse than the Canning in my opinion but there’s just such a special remote feeling unlike I’ve never felt before. I’d recommend anyone with a solid capable 4x4 vehicle to travel it at least once.

Last went on the Jellabinna Rocks track (correct spelling) in 2012 but only went about half way - the burnt out Mercedes was there then but more easily recognisable. You are actually in the Great Victoria Desert - the most beautiful desert in Australia! The more time you spend out there, the more you see. I've rarely seen mossies out there - but if you visit late in the year after rain then you will. Best time is June to Sept when there are no insects. The dunes sit on an ancient seabed (Limestone) but granite outcrops are more common to the east - if you took the road east from Googs Lake you could visit Lois or Nalara rocks - the latter is more substantial. Track to Lois rocks I last did in 2003 so I expect it would be more overgrown now. The track east was put through by BHP around 1980 looking for oil.

Thanks Phil, I love the Desert will be back and doing Lois Nalara Rocks next time, would also be keen on a little cross country we will see.

We did the googs track in April 2019, the flies were horrendous especially before sunset, and came out again around 7am. The corrugations shook my light bar off the bullbar, loosened my antenna, caused issues with my battery isolator (mostly dirty connection), but the worst was my aux battery negative post - the wingnut was rubbing against the bonnet and caused the post to crack away from the battery, spraying acid everywhere!
After all that, I'd still do googs again to try to appreciate the things I overlooked while dealing with car issues! Tyre pressures were around 18psi from memory

Mmmm wondering about your portrayal of the HEMA apps lack of any coverage of the googs track???
Yet you can buy multiple HEMA paper maps on the track. Would be strange not to have googs in the app. Maybe zoomed out there is no info????
Was the zoom at the same level on both apps??

I did Goog’s Track in April 2021. We did not go to Jellabinna Rocks because we were told by Ceduna Information Centre that we had to make a formal application - not like applying online for a permit to camp at Goog’s Lake and Mt Finke

I'm curious about that sand flag mount. I think instead of a slip on with pin which will rattle, it would be dead simple to thread the post and screw the flag on, with an R pin to stop it unscrewing.
