Hey guys! Don’t forget to enter the Shoptagr giveaway (it’s sneakily hiding in the description box) - good luck! ❤️ What’s one of the ways you work to shop with more intention?
How I shop minimally: - I shop as ethically as possible - I shop as sustainably as possible - I shop secondhand - I try to picture the item in my home - I have very stringent criteria for clothing and wearables - I don't just "shop" (I must have something specific in mind) I need to wait longer before buying because I still have some emotional reasons for shopping. Fortunately, I'm getting much better at noticing when I'm stress shopping. The next step for me is meditating instead! 🧘
1. Dont shop 2. Make a plan 3. Wait on it 4. One in one out method 5. Ask why you want the thing 6. If it aligns with your value and your goals 7. if youre actually going to use and enjoy this thing 8. what sparking joy means for you
Seriously you are one of two people I dont switch off with the blah blah blah and feel impatient to get to the piccies. Sensible advice , well articulated with a little bit of cheek. Even a 57 year old grandma type enjoys your reflections on the modern life,
I love how you mentioned the negative or "superficial" aspects of the term spark joy when it comes to shopping. I definitely feel like it takes some psychological awareness on our part to really understand why we want or need something, and if the justifications or excuses sound more like excuses, then perhaps it's not worth getting. Thank you for sharing these reminders, Christina 😊
I always compare my purchase with something I know I want: Do I want this sweater are do I want to be a 100 euros closer to a good mattrass :) I also written down what I bought the 2 previous months, and I have to wear everything 10 times before I can buy another clothing items. Helps a lot!
I’ve watched most of your videos (if not all of them) in two weeks 😍😂 you are always awesome! I have to say that your style gets better and better the further you go into low buy/ minimalism! Feels like it’s much more on point and focused. YOU wear the clothes, and not the other way around. You are my inspiration❤️
This was so well shot and edited! Loved the video and your thoughts on shopping while being minimalist. I can honestly say I have never regretted not buying anything till now.
Not sure if it falls under the category of "sparking joy," but one thing that helps me when shopping for clothes is the following: If I don't want to immediately walk out of the store wearing the item, I don't buy it. That usually helps force me to admit if something is ill-fitted, poor quality, or just the wrong item. The problem here is the rise of online shopping, as sometimes my dislike of the online return process makes me keep things that I wouldn't decide to buy if I had tried on beforehand.
First tip is the best. Nowadays there are plenty of sale and discounts as well as new products attacking us from everywhere. It can make us feel like we need stuff, but in reality 9/10 we don't.
I have purchased a small whiteboard which I stuck on the wall of the living room. It has my my savings goal, and how much to go before I reach that goal, so I’m constantly reminded of my priorities. This is really useful for stopping me from boredom spending.
@@Christinamychas it does work! Based on the psychology of name and shame really bahahha. The only down side is before anyone comes over take a photo of it and clean the white board! 😂😂😂 Especially if you put weight loss goals on the same board too.
Great tips and I definitely think parking things on a wishlist helps me be less impulsive. One of the other things I do is ask what an I giving up for this? I budget every penny coming in so buying something means giving up something else. Since I set savings goals for specific things like vacation or a larger purchase then I tend to favor savings in intentional purchases over impulse spending.
Hi christina, thank you for this video! With Black Friday approaching, I've been worried I may go crazy with all the "but I don't have", "just in case", "what if", and "i think i need this". Ive set a budget and have a savings fund for new skincare products to replace my current ones.
I was fully doing the “one in, one out” method last year but that somehow fell apart at the beginning of 2020. So now i’m gonna go get rid of things in my closet 😂
@@Christinamychas i also used your spreadsheet to catalog my wardrobe!! it’s such a good reminder that i probably need to get rid of more things in my closet LOL
I don’t think I have ever seen you look better or happier in any video before. 🤩 And this one was also so professionally done. Great job on both content and visuals 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 ✨ Thank you and I hope you are having a lovely week so far 🤗
you inspired me to start a budget and so far it's been great! I don't feel as guilty when I do decide to purchase something because I know I have room for it in my spreadsheet :-)
Thank you, very nice video. All the things you mention are important, but I am more and more committed to what you mentioned in point 6: does this thing align with my value and goals? It is so crucial that we decide who to support with our money. Cheers!
This may seem super random... but that breville espresso machine in your video I have in my basement in a pile of stuff to sell. If it is actually on your list and wasn't just a random screen capture let me know (I live in Ancaster)
@@Christinamychas awwwhh!! But it was so relatable.. everything you said about all the items that I just HAD to have and finally acquired and never ended up actually wearing for all those reasons! They’re the worst to get rid of bcoz they’re perfect yet just not for me!! 😭

Thank you dear Cristina! I am currently kinda accidentally on a low buy since September 2019 and discovering your channel was a real blessing 💚
Amazing Maria! Get it!
I’m moving into a flat at the end of the month and we’re definitely going to do intentional buying instead of getting everything at once.
Your videos are consistently 10/10 ‘s. This one in particular I will definitely be revisiting. 💰 🛍
Oh and as a side note... you’re gorgeous lady! :)
Omg thank you so much, Leanne! 😭🥰

Been browsing the Black Friday sale all morning, then I thought, wait, I really shouldn‘t. Watched this video instead, best decision!
Thank you for sharing your wisdom and for being so honest. I have learned so much!

i really needed this reminder today
Smart tips as usual💓
Love your giant mirror 🥰
Haha it’s not mine 😭 that was a studio from a while back - isn’t it gorgeous?

If I won a $5000 gift card I wouldn’t be acting right esp. with this no buy year I have coming up lol
Lol I will sound like a grandma here and say “don’t go spending it all in one place” 😂 but seriously I totally get that ❤️
I try not to be on any social media or add anything to carts. Nothing that tries to target my cash. It has worked
Wonderful video 😍😊! Thank you so much for this ❤️
