Agreed. ABC handled the situation terribly. Roseanne didn't deserve ANY OF THAT. She deserved punishment YES, but not in the way they gave it to her. I watched this series out of curiosity, and while not terrible it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The cast sans Goodman are a bunch of cowards! Seriously lame. Especially Gilbert. Laurie Metcalf absolutely owns every scene she is in. She and John Goodman are the backbone of this show. I had a similar reaction to a scene where Dan accidently called Louise "Rosie". It was shocking and sad and real. When I first started watching "The Conners" I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a comedy because the subject matter has been pretty heavy most of the time, but I'm getting to appreciate the depth of acting necessary to play these parts in this new approach. It's growing on me, and Laurie is awesome, as always.
She lost her best friend in the whole world & honestly doesn't know where to go from here...only Laurie can make me feel so much over the love between two fictional sisters...this was heartbreaking & so well acted 😔💔🌟👏👏
The issue wasn't the lunch box, it was this was Jackie's big and painful fall on the ground, but Roseanne wasn't there to pick her up and dust her off. Jackie was on her own and retreated to the safespace she and roseanne had built
Roseanne and Jackie's bond was one of my favorite things about the original show. To see that destroyed and see Jackie lost and alone is heartbreaking. Loved these characters my whole life. Poor Jackie.
"It's not the lunch box, anymore".... OmG.... I'm crying. I guarantee that Laurie needed a minute after filming this scene. She prolly went to her trailer and sat and cried fr.
I haven’t seen much of the new show just these clips and let me say it’s all so touching and moving being as though I watched this growing up and I know how close Jackie and Rosie were!! Rosie was her lifeline!! She saved Jackie so many times and now Jackie has to save herself and her family from the destruction of grief and generational curses!! Jackie has always made me tears up, from her drunken stupor when Rosie had to save her to her failed engagement, being a cop and so much more!!
Dan handled every second of that masterfully. Didn't escalate her mood, presented every option as a suggestion, actually talked to her...knowing his previous bursts, he's learned what it's like to be in that trance and unhindered lucidity. He knows that she's trying to be proactive while also being honest with herself...she's just taken on too much to keep it in anymore.
I personally feel Jackie saved this show. It's nothing like when Roseanne was in it but having Jackie softens the blow. I really wish Roseanne was still on though. This breaks your heart even if you're not a Roseanne fan and I believe Laurie genuinely misses Roseanne. It's not the lunchbox anymore means it's not Roseanne anymore, imo
Laurie is awesome in this scene and it shows how much she misses Roseanne as we all do! I think she really felt the emptiness of missing Roseanne who was the whole show in the first place. The Connors is a far cry from the original series of Roseanne. Every time I watch the Connors, I feel an emptiness and that emptiness is Roseanne. All the actors on the show seem to need some kind of direction. There is no continuity in the scripts. They have so many other actors coming in, but they neglect the main cast.
