- Everyone is excited to meet the newest Conner to join the family, but Becky Conner-Healy (Lecy Goranson) hasn't named her yet. After Aunt Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) shares some ideas--how about Jackie, Jr.?--Becky decides to name her baby girl Beverly Rose. Jackie's a little less excited about that name. Yes, I can imagine i remember when she was holding baby Harris she broke down and cried. Then i started crying. 😭
Premature birth is dangerous in any situation, but in Darlene's case, we heard explicitly from the doctor that it was unlikely that Harris was going to survive. This is why Darlene gave her the name, Harris. She was named after all the strong women on her Mom's side of the family as somewhat of a "prayer" that she'd make it. And she did. This was never explicitly stated in the case of Beverly Rose. I'm not saying it wasn't a possibility as any premature birth has the potential to be fatal, but where Becky is alone with Beverly Rose, says she's "Sorry" and breaks down. That gets me every time. But like Harris before her, Beverly Rose made it as well. 🙏❤️🌹
Seeing this clip made me cry so badly. This is how I felt when my son was born at 28 weeks and this is how I felt in the NICU. I felt like I did something wrong and I would often apologize to him. Seeing all those tubes and wires would make me cry alot because it looks so scary.

I like that she named her child after her grandmother and her mom. As much as I hate that Roseanne was kicked off her own show, and as much as I hate that she was killed off unceremoniously, it does seem like they are treating her character with respect in these episodes. It's pretty realistic how the family is dealing with her death, at least in season 2.

It wasn't even her own show, though. Barr had signed the rights over to ABC which was a dumb move on her part on top of the racist, supposedly "Ambien-fueled" tweet. Personally, I think The Conners gave the character, Roseanne, more respect in her death than the real life Barr deserved. Opioid addiction happens.

@@Hardbody217 Andy apparently only existed in Roseanne's books (the one in the end of season 9 and the one in beginning of season 10). Jerry was mentioned in season 10 of Roseanne but was written out according to one of Dan's comments on The Conners: "We had one favorite and two backups. You kids figure it out." Although a rumor is that Jerry might have done something between Roseanne and The Conners that royally pissed off Dan worse than Becky getting married at 17. Maybe Jerry grows pot on that fishing boat in Alaska, and Dan is ashamed that he's doing something illegal on the federal level.

I'm glad they used the NICU scene. That's exactly what all mother's say to our babies in their inlet. We cry silently.

I cried in this episode, I had a Preemie baby boy, then my sister had a Premature son, like Darlene and Becky... So I guess history repeats itself😢

I used to visit a NICU. One of the premie babies was smaller than the rattle they got him. It is amazing how tiny a baby can make it with modern medicine.

I love the conners. This scene made me cry... It reminded me of how I felt when I first saw my little baby girl who was also a preemie. I apologized to her so many times. I truly felt that it was my fault. She's in heaven now and she's my little angel. I miss her very much.

Nah. Roseanne and Becky were equally combative but Becky was a lot more stubborn. She’d drive Roseanne crazy until she’d give in so that Becky could get her way. If there was anybody Roseanne could never break and dominate it was Becky. It doesn’t matter how messy Becky became, she’d never let herself be “beat” by Roseanne.
Becky was always a mess after she married Mark as well. Roseanne and Dan did their best to help her but by doing so, they only enabled her to continue being messy and not prioritize her life. The same thing happened with Jackie. As messy as she was, Roseanne always took care of her instead of letting her be a big girl and handle her own messes. At most, she’d be disappointed with Becky but she’d never “beat the crap out of her”. She’d try to get her cleaned up and continue babying her because she’s incapable of being self-sufficient in a healthy way.
My daughter was born at 25 weeks, 3 days (25 weeker) she was 1 lb. 0 oz and was 10 1/2 inches long . Her due date was December 14th, her birth date was September 1st . She FINALLY got to come home December 25th. The best Christmas gift EVER!!! That little micro-preemie just had her 11th birthday!

My guy is two and a half. Born 25 weeks 5 days, 2lbs2oz. Due Nov 17th, born August 8th. Came home on Black Friday. Now it's non stop Bubble Guppies and Paw Patrol.
My sister and I were born at 24 weeks. We’ll be 33 this October and her own daughter- born one week past her own birthday- will be one on April 28th.
September 1st is my birthday 😊
I Love this Family.. I'm so glad they are a part of my life again. I miss Roseanne. But the entire family is the reason I watch..

Jackie had Andy way before the whole "story" was done.
I understand that but Fred is not apart of Roseanne's story and him and Jackie had Andy before baby Jerry was born. In the first season of the reboot Roseanne prayed at dinner saying watch over Jerry who's on a fishing boat. Why wld they get rid of Andy who was born first and not Jerry. Not to mention Darlene wld be with Mark(RIP) and Becky with David. And Jackie would be a lesbian if we're basing things off of Roseanne's "story" NOT to mention Dan would be dead.
I have been thinking a lot about this, and I'm working on a comprehensive theory. But the short of it is that Roseanne's stories started at the beginning of season 3. The end of season 2 is when she got the writing room, which has audio hinting at it in the finale. I don't want to make it into a copout, but if you want you could just handwave anything you don't like as "part of a story". Again, this is just the bare bones of a theory that I'm working on.
Roseanne has said herself that Jerry was mentioned and that he was fishing on a boat somewhere. She also said andy would be mentioned or shown in later episodes but, that was before she got kicked off her own show.
I think they should bring Andy...Jerry....Fred...Nancy...Leon and Scott back to the show. I think it would boost the ratings. Maybe Arnie too.
I think Dan and Jackie need to go after the big pharmaceutical companies that got Roseanne hooked on pain meds which caused her addiction problems and death. They could show them winning the lawsuit and coming out of poverty. Dan and Jackie could finally have closure, help Becky with her baby. Jackie could finally get her life together. I wish they would bring her back like in a back story, like they do on The Walking Dead; they bring characters back who have died. Roseanne’s story isn’t finished on how she died, her last moments, who were the people in that prescription drug ring? This probably won’t happen but it’s something I wish. I also would love to know the background story on DJ joining the military and deploying.
Laurie Metcalf aka aunt Jackie's daughter is the mother on young Sheldon. Talent does run in the family.

Me, too. Unfortunately, the actor who portrayed Mark (Glenn Quinn) passed away a few years ago. I'm glad they didn't cast a different actor to portray the character, because I feel that would have been an insult to Glenn and his fans.

Roseanne did this to herself and has no one to blame but herself. And honestly, I prefer "The Conners" as not having to have the show revolve for the most part around Roseanne, it's good to FINALLY get to know the characters as Middle Class grownups, spouses and parents. And it's wonderful.

This is one of my favorite shows growing up now it's just not the same without Roseanne it's hard to watch.
Sara Gilbert was the main backstabber of Roseanne when all the crap went down over Roseanne's “racist” tweet. I'm not saying what Roseanne did was right but Sara knew her all her life and knew she wasn't a racist but stabbed her in the back anyway so she could take over the show.

JG JG, you're right, Roseanne gave a lot of people a time to shine and she seems like she's far from being a racist. She has a dark sense of humor, I'll admit, but she didn't deserve to lose her legacy just to appease someone like Sarah. And the nerve of that newcomer, who plays Darlene's daughter. She had no right to be so righteous and act as though she was so important. No one would even know who some of these people were, if not for Roseanne. I think the thing that got me the most, is how they killed off Roseanne's character. She was going to have surgery, that was a perfect way, to say she passed away during the surgery, but no, they chose to destroy her by making her a drug addict. She was dependent on the pain pills, I remember that, but she could have overcome that with professional help. I hated that storyline.

Kathryn Nassar it must depend on the hospital. Because my daughter was in the NICU. Even when she “graduated” to the step down unit of NICU there was always staff in there. It made me feel better knowing they were always being watched over.

bonwright78 I was born at 35-36 weeks and was in the nicu for a couple of weeks because my lungs weren’t developed completely.
My guess is that in this case, it's because season nine never happened. No lottery, no lavish escapades and Harris wasn't born premature. Still though I get your point.

I have watched Roseanne on and off for years. Watching this clip reminds me that I want to binge on a few episodes again. It also assures me I'm not missing out on anything by not viewing the Conners. It will be amusing to see how long the network continues to prop up its ratings.

My girl is 2 months old. She spent the first 11 days of her life in the NICU.
I have Hydrocephalus so I was on lock for 3 months. Shunted @ a day old then needing another surgery the next day to move my shunt to the left. It's easy not to get scared looking @ premies because I know that anything can happen❤️
So was mines the hardest thing was going home and having to leave my baby there. 😥
Mine as well. My little guy was born 6 weeks early due to me developing preeclampsia. Today he's doing great and shows no signs of having been a preemie.

The twilight baby looked more realistic then that doll.
Rosanne Conner was the character who made the others likeable, in spite of their annoying ways. Her stand up comedy, that humor, it was her. She fought to keep it real, when she clashed with producers, writers, later in the seasons. Her ex wrote for the show, who knew her better? She isn't the best, but certainly not the worst.
Her character, it just brought out really good performances from the cast. She could be angered at Jackie's abusive boyfriend, supporting her sister, sticking up for Dan's father when Dan thought he was cruel to his mother. She just kept everyone in check, but could admit she was wrong. She loved her family. And they loved her. Dan and Roseanne had many ups and downs, like we do. A funny, loving couple, he was ying to her yang.
Darlene is written to try to take her place, it just doesn't work.
Darlene is mean, sarcastic and abrasive. Clueless.
Roseanne called people on their behavior, she had a loving side could be so sympathetic, The others I don't see it.
Her no longer on show left a large hole. It would be like taking Jackie Gleason out of 'The Honeymooners '.

My twin sister and I were born at 26 weeks I was in the NICU for 4 months she was in for longer it was hard we were so little and so very sick numerous surgeries and even today as an adult being told your developmental delayed sucks, I'm still sick and on loads of medications in January I had my first Spine Surgery and a week ago I had a thyroidectomy praying no more Surgeries.

Roseanne always was about real life and this is real life. She handled things with sarcasm and humor and I miss that but the show is still the same...The Conners going through life like all other families.

Wasn't Becky pregnant before the end of the first series of Roseanne before it went off the air?? 1997???
I guess that was season 9. Season 10 reveals that was part of a book Roseanne was writing, so events like the lottery, Becky being pregnant, etc never happened. Although she wrote that Becky marries David and Darlene married Mark, but season 10 shows that it was the other way around. Also Dan is still alive despite being declared dead by Roseanne at the end

Public opinion forced cast mates to turn on Roseanne and the show to get rid of her. I’ll always love the characters, but this show is nothing without Roseanne.
Actually I think it was hollywood's opinion, everyone I know still loves Roseanne.
I guess the producers thought they were being politically correct or something. Yes, the tweet was inappropriate, but they should have left things alone. Let people decide for themselves whether they want to boycott Roseanne without ruining the whole show.

I would have watched this show if they hadn't felt the need to kill Roseanne off. I mean What the heck? You couldn't just have her and Dan retire somewhere or Dan get a good job in Arizona or somewhere. Also whats up with making Jackie stupid she wasn't stupid in the original show just sorta under Roseanne shadow. And why not explain where Andy and Jerry are or the fact that Harris would be in her early twenties not still in high school. Did the writers of The Conners not even watch The Roseanne Show.

I agree...and Beckys age if stuck to true timeline would be what 39. To old to have kid.
They could have had her off in rehab somewhere and eventually brought her back to the show and the whole mess would have eventually blown over. Instead they killed her off via a drug overdose which was an insult to the show and the character. If they absolutely had to kill her off they could have done it in any number of different ways that wouldn't have been so insulting to the fans.
They should have just suspended her for a while and have her character be away doing something like visiting Jerry in Alaska. Still have the series be called The Conners, but include Roseanne instead of killing her off.

@@toyaliens Actually "on the network" doesn't mean much. They have had weeks where they were beaten in the ratings by "Everything else" as one publication put it. Very doubtful they will last out the season.
