What do you guys think is the main reason why Yuki is in the NBA?

Ngl it makes you think if Tim Cone lead the World Cup and won at least 2 games, meron cguro tau chances in making to the NBA. It was the perfect time sana and before the world cup they had an time to prepare, ung situation nga ntn today, we have limited time but our players still manages to deliver. Anyways, i see it happening nmn because we are headed to the right direction, cguro there are things lng na we had to fix sa mga basketball leagues ntn dito to make the process faster

He thrives even off-ball, which is something our players have to do better once the ball leaves their hands. He can actually hang with players five or six inches taller than him on defense, and he can adjust to the quicker speed of the game. Of course his profile got a boost because of international play. Once the Memphis roster gets back to full health, he will see more time in the G-League.

Also his great performance during the Paris Olympics, caught the eye of NBA scouts. Back then during the olypmics he was quick and had good offense despite his height..

Also he was never intimidated despite they were facing super teams

I think one other reason B.League can do two imports is because they have **56 teams** from B.1 to B.3. There's many spots to give their locals a chance, and some extra to have world imports.
Meanwhile PBA only has 12 teams. Slots are much more limited, with limited slots for Fil-foreigners as well. So for me, PBA should expand to at least 16, increase slots for Fil-foreigners (from 6 to maybe 10 or even do away with it), and then maybe do what they did before, an optional Asian import. That way, Filipinos can get to showcase themselves more here in the PBA and maybe the PBA can become a stepping stone for all Asians to the NBA.

Main reason I think why Chinese and Japanese players are getting breaks earlier than Filipinos is economics. China and Japan are bigger markets and their companies offer juicier opportunities for the NBA and for the businesses of the owners. The CBA is the most lucrative league outside of the NBA and the B.League is almost as lucrative. Their players are getting scouted more.
Second reason is more playing exposure. There are high-stakes basketball games in Japan even in high school, and even though basketball is not their primary sport, it gets national coverage for the fans that do watch. Rui Hachimura was a back-to-back Inter-High champion before being invited to play in the US NCAA. As you correctly pointed out, Kawamura was invited to play pro in Japan at a young age because they have a club system similar to Europe.
I agree with you that grassroots development is important, because we have an over-reliance on Fil-foreigns and naturalized players to do well in international competitions. We have too much reverence for NBA basketball. As for early development of players, the collusion between the UAAP/NCAA and the PBA must be broken. Better minds have racked their brains for solutions, but the resistance really comes from the sponsors.

I think the PBA must do what B.League and Euroleague is doing which is having youth teams in every PBA Team. May mga u17 u19 u21 na divisions each every PBA Team so young kids will have a chance to develop their skills. Just make sure lang na susuportahan ng kanilang mother team ang education nila through scholarship if these kids are still willing to finish their education. Technically, student athletes parin sila but instead playing for a HS/college team, sa PBA "Youth teams" na sila. If we have that, mas malakas ang chance na makakadevelop tayo ng talented players na pwedeng pang NBA in the future. So sa PBA na nakasalalay kung gusto nilang gawin or not ang suggestion ko hehe. Just my suggestion lang.

PBA teams need to start to treat their teams first as a club which is a subsidiary instead of marketing expense

If you saw him play last 2017 U16 asia cup, alam mo possible talaga sya maging mainstay sa national team nila and pwede talaga mapansin ng NBA or Euro teams. All the hype was focused on kai sotto & sa teammate niya na si tanaka but si yuki talaga yung matured na laro nun.

Malaking bagay to sa Asian homegrown players. Yuki played pro during 1st year college, pinili niya maglaro agad sa pro/Bleague.

18 years old highschool palang un sa atin.

Gleague bagsak nya but still an nba player.
Fact is kung nagperform si kai nung world cup bibigyan din yan ng exhibit 10 then probably 2 way contract.
