I just bought this same car from my sister.. after getting 18mpg with my previous vehicle getting 40 to 45mpg in 2022 with gas so high it’s been a real blessing
I used to have a 1998 Honda Civic. I got 36 - 38 mpg. 34mpg in the city. I got 40mpg on a road trip (all highway). Hard to believe the hybrid doesn't get more.
Original nickel cadium battery only lasted ,70,000 miles. Replaced with Lithium ion battery. Now at 320,000miles still average 43 mpg and no oil burning yet. 2010 model.
Any idea where I can purchase one for an 07? Recently bought one with 220k miles that's looking like it need the batter replaced, so already looking for a new battery soon as I can get one
When our Hybrid was new we used to get around 65mpg and that was constant until the second service when Honda upgraded the software after that it dropped to about 40 -45 mpg We had the original load put back in by the dealer and the fuel consumption improved again, then the next service they changed it again and the economy dropped again. There was a lawsuit in the USA against Honda but it went nowhere, so we still average 40 - 45 mpg now 10 years later, we did get a new battery at 14 months old as the IMA light kept coming on
I got my mpg up to 41mpg sustained on my 06 hybrid by doing this and riding my brakes(regen) to a stop. On this car you should always ride your brake pedal to stop so that it gets full bars on the charge meter
chon Rodriguez - anything less than 40mpg in these cars is poor. I bought a 2008 civic hybrid 2 years ago my average mpg is 46. I live in the UK. My driving is a combination of city and highway up to 50mph. I've made short motorway journeys where I've got 54mpg. I'm sure if l made a long motorway journey l would get at least 60mpg. I've found the best thing with these cars is to coast whenever you can. Don't have your foot on the gas 100% of the time. Especially if you come to a hill let it coast downhill. On the level accelerate a few mpg past your target speed then ease off the gas and let it coast for 100 yards or even 200. As for gentle gas going uphill, think about it for a moment: if you drive a manual car you need to drop down a gear or 2 to climb a hill, low engine revs would mean the engine would have to labour which is not going to give you good gas milage. Even a conventional non cvt automatic will need to shift down for a hill. What l do approaching a hill is to build my speed up so the car has enough momentum to get up the hill. Hope this helps.
It depends. A lot of people drive them like they’re sports cars and that gives them less than 40mpg. For myself, I know a battery is “bad” (below my expectations) if I’m getting less than 45mpg. Good batteries I can get over 60 most of the time. And yes, your way of driving is the way to go to get the best gas mileage.
I get about 35 mpg. I was a bit disappointed since i wanted just a few miles more, I don't drive like its mentioned here, its my first hybrid ill try it.
How are the 2nd gen Honda Insight batteries? I have a 2010 Insight with about 180k miles. Bought it recently. Not sure if hybrid battery has ever been replaced. I’ve been getting in the 40s mpg average. No warning lights. Hope the battery lasts me a while.
I average around 30-32 mpg mostly all being city driving. my work is 2 miles away and I rarely drive the highway. I get about 37-38 on highway driving.
Please help/advise if you read this comment... My one is a 2010 Civic (JDM) and If I push it to 2K RPM it keeps 2 bars of assist almost always. Am I driving it in the wrong way or what is it? You are using like 3000 RPM and it is not even assisting that much! What am I missing?
I have a 2007 one and can only seem to get it up to 30 mpg. I bought it used at 89k miles, now its at 122k miles. I've gotten the hybrid battery checked twice and am regular with check ups...even got better quality tires and gasoline...still don't know how to get it close to the 40's :(
Did you reset your mpg counter? Also go easy on the gas and easy on the brake. Let it slow down naturally if possible. Accelerate with lots of caution.
@karrskars yes I've done it a few times. And I can improve it a bit In that area, but do drive it pretty cautiously already. But I will try that, thank you
I have 08 civic I bought it just 1 and a half months ago 1,67,000kms done. Now it's 1,72***. I get around 44 to 47 mpg I drive it almost daily, at first I was getting 40 mpg but now I have a better idea of getting good mpg. It's just how you drive and where you drive... That's it!
My car has 195k miles in it, 09 civic hybrid but i only get 25-30 mpg, ive even reset the mpg, but the moment i pass 2.5k rpm, it’ll go down, i also use assist for a little, and it instantly dies so i need to wait like 5 minutes for it to charge, then out of no where it charges fully? Can it be that my car is just aging out? I would greatly appreciate it if someone can answer
My 2008 honda civic hybrid ok in town bun when i m jumping in faster road 50 60 mph the bars go down 2 bars then ima light comes on then it charges again and ima goes off when i turn the car off. İs it bad hybrid battery???
I tried what u did in this video in my 09 hybrid and all it did was go up from 26.8 to 27.2 I would love to be where your at I was this close to buy a prius last night
thats funny cause the 2006-7-11 mt get 53.33333 miles a gallon i do all day in the coupe ex civic and you say back in the 70s where are you man. that ecu tune for mileage is insane for those models i see why they stopped making them in the what 70s you say haha
when i touch the gas pedal even the slightest the fuel consumption gauge goes instantly to the max, is that supposed to be this way? Im getting like 25mpg
@@karrskars its eu version so the gauge was going to the max so 12l/100km but today i cleaned the MAF sensor and it got better the gauge doesnt shoot up to the max anymore. Now i get like 30mpg on average. Im changing the CVT fluid soon so im hoping for even better gas mileage
I have the same thing , but I don't think there is something wrong with it. My car consumes about 6,2 litter for 100 km. If you want we can talk in Arabic because I am Syrian .
So a question. A good one. So the obvious fact is that you're using gas while the assist is on. But doesn't it SAVE gas when the assist is on? You're using less gas when IMA is engaged. The downside you said was the "force charging" I mean that's bad on the battery but this is about gas mileage you know.
But yes I did understand also that you want to not use the pedal as much where the IMA is notification that you are using gas but less of it while you are physically driving you can really control the assist as much

How’s the mpg in the city run? I’m planning to get one for myself in france.

Most likely. When you go faster it uses the battery more so that’s why the bars are going down.
hello, have you encountered the P0420 error? I have replaced the oxygen sensor with no improvement in consumption
It’s the catalytic converters. Check eBay for a cheap one

Because the assist engaged is helping the gas milage that's not a bad thing for MPG that's the whole point right
But yes I did understand also that you want to not use the pedal as much where the IMA is notification that you are using gas but less of it while you are physically driving you can really control the assist as much
Yes it assists the engine. You use it more under heavy load, high speeds, up hills, etc
sometimes ill have four squares left of battery and the asist dont kick in do you know why that happends
