Back in the Hyborian Age, they knew how to make impactful music the likes never hear of before, and when the theme for Conan the Cimmerian drops, his foes' fighting spirits were crushed, and they can be seen driven before him, while you can hear the lamentation of their women.

Stan Lee wasn't an artist. He worked mainly as a writer, editor, and producer. However, painters and comic book artists did paint/draw Conan much the way Arnold Schwarzenegger would later portray on film. Most notably being Frank Frazetta and Barry Windsor-Smith. Consider giving their work a look. It really is top-notch.
I always remembered this as an entertaining movie. Clearly not as good as the first, but fairly good 80's sword & sorcery fare. The one thing it had over the first movie was the princess. Knowing that the actress was only 14 or 15 at the time kinda takes some of the sheen off it. However, I give the director credit for actually using an age appropriate girl versus what they do today with casting 20 year olds to play teenagers. I will say though that the final boss here was a let down. We heard all movie about how terrible it would be if Dagoth was reincarnated. And then when it happened, it was like a taller version of the swamp thing.
This movie makes out that Conan single-handedly defeated Dagoth but at one point, he's getting his head crushed and at another, Dagoth almost rips him in half! If not for Zula and Malik intervening when they did providing the necessary distractions, the outcome of the fight would have been very different.
@@karlk5801 Malik was up on his "The big evil boss is never truly dead right after his defeat" knowledge and went in for that double tap before the evil boss could resurrect fully into its final form. Remember to always double tap, or in this case, double stab to be sure its dead.
i swear, if they animated this fight it would be an amazing ohmage. I love this era of film, some updates with fan love put into it would make this fantasy nerd very happy
I say this with love, and I get the need for spectacle and building up to a climax, but seeing this now, I shake my head at how the monster started out with "slow swipes of my webbed hands with tiny claws" to "throwing lightning bolts at stone pillars instead of my actual enemies"
No. Wrong. Nobody is pushing for diverse cast that's just how they are and if it's ok here why's it not ok now? Why is it not ok to have diverse cast now? What makes it different. The movie was filmed in 83 so 14 is correct.@@Neil-yl6qn
I love the choice of Sarah Douglas as the evil queen in this movie.
Arnie's lines in the script: "EeeeEEEEAAAaarrrgh...uuuuNGHHHaargh"
Andre The Giant's lines: "Roooaarrr! RRRRRaaaRRGHH!"
Judging by the color of the oil, Dagoth had a head gasket problem.
Jamie Hyneman - "well, there's your problem"
He was actual a pea-soup powered automaton. The magic ritual was just razzle-dazzle for the crowd.
Baller. These kind of movies are sadly gone.
As an 80s kid, I had such a crush on Sarah Douglas....
I particularly like this version over the shorter version I've seen so much.
Sarah Douglas was so beautiful
Check her out in Beastmaster 2! Yum
@@RogueDragon05 thank you🙏
And lots of skin too
I was in early elementary school when i first saw her in Superman 2. Hated how she hated/killed men in it. But then it sort of set my path into appreciating femdom as I matured...lol.
@@whatareyoulookingat908 You looked into the darkness... and it looked back!
I started reading Robert E Howard's original short stories for the first time and actually think this and the first Barbarian movie did a great job capturing the tone of Conan.
Funny how i don't remember these scenes, but i sure as hell remember the music! lol
Back in the Hyborian Age, they knew how to make impactful music the likes never hear of before, and when the theme for Conan the Cimmerian drops, his foes' fighting spirits were crushed, and they can be seen driven before him, while you can hear the lamentation of their women.
@@cocodojo well it would be rather embarrassing to play that music and then get defeated!! Conan would never want to confuse his viewers though, so he knows its time to win.
@@mystikmind2005 Crom, I've never asked for anything in life, but grant me the epic theme with which to crush my enemies, and if you play Yakkety Sax... then to hell with you!
Still one of the best epic boss fight scenes to this day .... still one of my favorite movies to rewatch.
And yet in 2024 we haven't got a decent Masters of the Universe movie that doesn't take place on Earth for 80% of its length.
and why is he putting burger king garbage in the sink?
This movie is a visual masterpiece and will hold up forever
You may think you're cool, but you're not early 80's, shirtless, Arnold Schwarzenegger holding an axe in one hand and a sword in the other, cool!
I love this film much more than the first because I saw this film when I was 13 years old at the cinema, you can't beat that 😀
Cousin sister's brother really liked this movie!!!!!
This movie was WAY ahead of its time. Even had Mike Tyson biting off the ear way before it happened
Arnold looks like something Stan Lee would draw.
Stan Lee never drew anything. He was a writer.
Frank Frazetta
Better DND movie than any of the other DND movies.
What I loved is that this film was so different from the first one but it still worked so well!
Yeah, well they can't summon a 100m demon and realistically expect it to be defeated with swords and axes. Conan needs some enemies to kill, you know.
One of the most epic finale for a movie being ever filmed
1:28 Nice shot, Zula.
Yeah! Talk about pinpoint accuracy!
That was god like spear throwing
I wish there were ten of these movies with Arnold playing Conan each time
This movie makes out that Conan single-handedly defeated Dagoth but at one point, he's getting his head crushed and at another, Dagoth almost rips him in half! If not for Zula and Malik intervening when they did providing the necessary distractions, the outcome of the fight would have been very different.
Clearly Malak delivered the killing blow at 6:50. Conan was incidental.
@@karlk5801 Malik was up on his "The big evil boss is never truly dead right after his defeat" knowledge and went in for that double tap before the evil boss could resurrect fully into its final form. Remember to always double tap, or in this case, double stab to be sure its dead.
Really underrated movie, I thought it was an excellent sequel. CONAN THE DESTROYER! ⚔
Conan is now a dlc for mortal kombat 1
When he was ripping the horn off everyone was staring like ``jesus thats disgusting``.
Both movies were badass
Wilt was 48 years old when this movie came out. He still looked like he could get 20 points and 10 rebounds in the NBA
Perfect Conan
Who remembers watching reruns of this during the 90s as kids?
Olivia d'Abo was my first crush.
The no-holds-barred days of mma were wild!
Так вот Тайсон откуда взял прием по откусыванию ушей!!)))))
Born in 1980 but still this movie is still my childhood favorite.
I expected a one-liner at 2:17
"That's for the Knicks."
"You got da guts.. I give you dat!"
i swear, if they animated this fight it would be an amazing ohmage.
Movie was diverse and it never even crossed our minds.
The new virtue signaling is 100% bad faith.
No. Wrong. Nobody is pushing for diverse cast that's just how they are and if it's ok here why's it not ok now? Why is it not ok to have diverse cast now? What makes it different. Are you just more racist towards folk now? Come on explain the logic. Cos so far no ody I e asked actually gas a real reason. They just come out with the same circular logic.
@@kudosbudo You're wrong on so many levels I don't even know where to begin. But the basic one is - back then they focused on making good movies, regardless of whether the cast was diverse or not. Now they focus on making diverse cast, regardless of whether movie will be good or not.
