Boulder Basin Idaho is one of my most favorite trails in Idaho. It's the trail that started my off-road life and ultimately got me into overlanding. This would be my third time up, but this time I had friends with me who'd never reached the top before. This overlanding adventure tells the story of Nick and Lance, who had to make some tough decisions and face their fears as we drive one of Idaho's best trails.

This is the trail that started my offroad journey, that turned into an overlanding journey, that turned into a UA-cam channel. It's one of those trails you can do over and over because it changes a bit each year. For many reasons we'll definitely be back to Boulder Basin soon. If you liked this video give our Blake Lake vid a watch, it's one of my favorite parts of Idaho: ua-cam.com/video/qebrudVrLiE/v-deo.html

One of the responsibilities of the trail leader is to evaluate the situation and help decide the best course of action for EVERYONE on the trip. That is often a hard and unpopular choice but hey, part of the job and being mature enough to care about everyone in the party is a big part of it. Sometimes the trip (if the terrain is known) needs to be upfront about who should be going (or at least what vehicles should be going) but that is not always known. And no harm in turning back, we did that in Alaska at a stream that was likely easy for us to cross but was running pretty fast, we were alone and about 60 miles from any town or the highway, I didn't feel like being wrong on that one!

My truck is probably more capable than most overlanders and less capable than most built rock crawlers!!!!! You have to know what you are capable of. Then have fun 😎

Great comment. I think learning those limits is a process...one that hopefully doesn't damage your rig or get you hurt..but the process is pretty darn fun.

Yes, I have wheeled this truck for 43 years. I was definitely rougher when I was younger and I’ve gotten a little more conservative as I’ve gotten older

A Bronco?! REALLY?! A Bronco?! It's just a Wrangler wanna-be!!! Trading a Toyota for a Ford seems counter-intuitive! He should have gotten a real upgrade with a Gladiator Rubicon. I am kind of kidding. (Kind of!!!)
