- Join us as our Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk tries to keep up with a heavily modified Jeep Gladiator on a Jeep Badge of Honor trail in Moab Utah, Poison Spider. This was definitely the hardest off road trail we have attempted so far. We pushed our Jeep Grand Cherokee to the limit on this one!

I'd loved to have seen the reactions of the other Jeepers on the trail on Poison Spyder. Last time I was in Moab with the Trailhawk I went out on Fins and Things, and the responses from the "real" Jeep drivers were pretty priceless :D

Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is at 27.1° breakover . That's a fantastic number by the way!
Grand Cherokee basically would match the gladiator if the gladiator had a 2 inch lift with 37s (if that will fit on a 2 inch lift, I don't know ..) if not we'll say a 3 in lift with 35s... That would be equal to a Grand Cherokee Trailhawk on breakover, basically.
For the gladiator, 4.5 in lift w/ 37s puts you at 30.8° breakover! Nice.
My recommendation would always be that people should try to get as close as they can to 30° breakover when they do a lift (this is going to be different for every vehicle) If you're wondering how high you should lift your vehicle, try to hit 30° break over.
You're good ! If you need more than 30° break over I wanna see what you're climbing over lol...
Hey Brad, thanks for all the great videos. This one is my favourite (so far). I've had the pleasure of owning 6 Jeeps in my life; a new 1992 YJ, which I did all my boonie bashing in, a 2000 Grand Cherokee Limited which died at 220, 000 Km's, a 2011 Compass, 2018 Compass both North editions (I know, I know, right?), a 2018 Grand Cherokee Laredo and now a 2021 Laredo "Altitude" edition.
My thoughts before watching (and subscribing to) your videos was that I'm way past my off roading days. But damn bro, if I come into some money, I'm going to totally kit out a JGC for off road and head to Utah. After the pandemic of course.

Nice work! Somewhere out there there's a video that Jeep did of a WK2 overland and a Trailhawk in 2013ish doing this trail in completely stock trim... no damage, no trouble completing the trail. Driver and Spotters is all you need! I do believe they removed the front air dam was all. WK2 is way more capable than people think!

Amazing, grand Cherokee rules
Well done dude. I have a built up 2019 cherokee trailhawk and it's been my experience that the cherokee trailhawks are more capable than the grands , given the wheeling I've done with them . Ive done gnarly ones in mine, but poison spider is one I was too afraid to do in my Jeep. I am thoroughly impressed at how well you managed to get to the top of this one. Good job !

I started taking my grand Cherokee elk hunting in the river of no return wilderness it did so good in the snow I installed a hidden winch myself and it’s not a trail hawk and only a quad 1 system but I passed big 4x4 pickups in the snow great vehicle with 100.000 miles on it

Brad, his tires seemed to make a big difference. I didn’t hear him break traction at all. But I know if you get Mud Terrains then you have to live with them on the highway too.

So... you can spend a ton on a Gladiator or JL/JK and ride these awesome trails. Or, you can buy a WK2, put a modest lift on it, 32s (or 33s?) and do just about all the same thing while still getting better gas mileage and having a comfortable ride. Got it!
Thats about what we are figuring out. Now, obviously that gladiator can go places we can't. But I've been very happy with where it can go!

Love this content! Makes me proud of my WK2. From one owner to another, i wish there for a better looking option out there for rear bumper armor. Not really liking the look of any of the ones out now but i have a feeling there wont be many more companies mass producing them. It just becomes a shovel. Love the jeep and the adventures. That’s awesome. I understand that Trailhawk is more capable than other Grand Cherokee’s but is it still on stock suspension, ride height, etc?
Stock air suspension. We were definitely in off road 2 this day
Great video,enjoyed how well put together it was by the “team”. Did PS in my Wrangler and now feel ready to try it next time in my ‘18 TH. I wish there was a good looking replacement for the rear bumper, sorry about the leak. I lost half my brakes at the top coming down due to a stray stick getting kicked up and popping a line. What pressure did you run in the Falkens? Looked like a good choice.
We we’re running 19 psi on this one. Losing brakes on this trail would be a bad thing! Thanks for watching!

Curious - what mods have you done to the trailhawk - or is it stock aside from maybe different tires (they don't look over sized form stock) winch + air compressor ?
We went up one size on tires. Stock air suspension. Extra skid plates and a winch
@@ProdigalOverland Just trying to see what I should expect with my '21 Limited - looking at spring/strut lifts and not sure where to get started - I am sure ground clearance would severely limited me if I tried to even approach moderate level trails. Trying to throw together an overland rig out of my Limited WK2.

Your Jeep isn’t lifted is it?
It has the standard air suspension. Which can raise 2 inches.
Looking forward to next week's video, however I hate to see you got a little busted up. I know I've mentioned it before, might want to look into a slight suspension mod and some 33s. Here's the full write up on how to do it. Not too expensive either.
