  • First hot tent camp of the new season. Bring on the cold weather!
I'd like to share with you some of the reasons why my channel is the way it is and the way it is going, it's about Freedom and a healthy lifestyle, yes, even someone approaching 60 can be healthy....I hope.
I cycled into camp on my Brompton folding bike, that bike is an amazing tool and because of it's design you can carry a rucksack ob the back instead of panniers...This make the bike very flexible and a real load bearing mule.
It's not the perfect all round bike and really there is no such thing, but it is a good bike thats for sure!
I used my OneTigris Iron wall tent and Woods Walker Titanium stove.
Both these products were purchased via Amazon.
Music used in this video is all from the UA-cam Audio Library
Wager with Angels- Nathan Moore, Yes Mark, you know the tune:)
    Sky Map- Reed Mathis
    Communicator- Reed Mathis
I hope you enjoy the video.
    As always thanks for watching:)

I’ve been watching & enjoying your channel for a good number of years now. What I find fascinating is your passion for a great many subjects, wherever it be motorcycling, Radios or knife making. To me you’ve always been a great constant on UA-cam & you’ve helped me through some pretty low points in life. Your positivity & zest for life has really picked me up during those troubled times. It’s my hope to thank you in personal, face to face one day. Keep doing what your doing Sandy. It’s always a privilege to share in your adventures. Cheers Andy

Sandy, you are the "Wiltshire Man". We come to your channel to see what you will shine a spotlight on next. The beauty of youtube is that us, the viewers, can find people with a genuine passion for any particular skill or subject, and that is a fascinating lesson for us all. I really appreciate the places you take us, and share your freedoms, of whatever kind.

As a recent subscriber, I’m super happy that YT chose to put your channel into my feed, as every one of your videos I’ve found enjoyable. I started with a video on ancient history, then mountain biking (been enjoying that for 30+ years), followed by Bromptoneering (celebrated 10 years this year with my H6R) and camping (haven’t done that since uni, but I’m keen to combine it with my Brompton). Whilst I’ve yet to watch the motorcycling, I’m sure I’ll find that enjoyable too. Which ever direction you decide to take your channel, they’ll always be an audience.

Your right in your thinking Sandy and fold up bikes are a godsend if you have health problems, easy for a train ride away and with front and back pannier racks you can load them as much as any other bike.
I've just bought a battery one and they are even better as it give you the distance if used sparingly, plus that little help when the legs are tired, and a cheap bottle dynamo with a charging kit will charge anything a power bank would as your going along, peddle or battery. Do what you can Sandy as it is out and also healthy double that up with a swim a week and you will be as fit as a fiddle.

Wonderful video. These are my favourite videos on your channel, by the way. I have been inspired by your "Brompton videos" and I might get one myself now, actually! Very wise words about freedom as well. Thank you.

    • @WiltshireMan
      @WiltshireMan  Рік тому

Freedom is being eroded now Bjorn. Possibly the common man is now at the pinnacle of freedom and from this point it can only go backwards now and there is pressure from the most wealthy to direct the course of the world going forward.
The Brompton has some huge positives and is a very underestimated bicycle, it's not cheap though but I like the fact that it can carry a Rucksack instead of panniers, this makes it very flexible and ofcourse the ability to fold it and carry it is a very useful thing, but they also have a down side in that the small wheels don't roll quite so well on rough terrain, really they are designed for a smoother surface. A great all round bike but an MTB with back and front luggage racks would be a better option for a lot of folk.
I love my Brompton though and shall be taking it on the train to more remote places at some point.
Check out Brompton traveller on UA-cam. He has a very good channel devoted to the bike

I am blessed with being surrounded by some awesome National parks in the Northern rivers region of N.S.W, Australia, so I don't have to cycle all that far to access some outstanding campsites.... do however need to work on the fitness levels..... but, hey, WHY NOT.. !! I hope that you have inspired a few more of us Old Farts to try some different things, and maybe stretch the comfort zones a bit ..... Health and happiness are in no way a burden to carry. Keep on doing what you do Sandy, in whichever directions you are taken... but PLEASE keep taking us all with you...... Cheers to you Mate.... JB....

The lockdown actually made me healthier.
Cycling is so good for body and mind!
Keep up the great videos! I really enjoy sharing your adventures! What ever you choose to do!
Ps look at a Topside light to keep safe when on the road. I have found them useful for being seen.

Just want to say I really enjoy your channel. The vlogs are always interesting, beautifully shot and I love the gentleness of the way you present the videos. In a frantic, often angry world we could all do with taking a leaf out of your book Sandy.
My dog Gus was very interested in watching Carmen on her first camping 🏕 trip ☺ Gus enjoys camping too!

I love the camping videos but equally enjoy the hiking, cycling and motorcycling.
I’ve watched other bushcraft channels and struggle to understand how many subscribers and views they get compared to WM. Keep the variety on the channel as whatever you are up to, it’s always something I watch within hours of you posting it!
    Thanks.

Thanks Dave, I've been around on the scene for a few years now thats for sure but never really pushed the channel. The channels that tend to grow always post videos on the same topic but I can't do that, I have to follow my heart. One day it'll be cycling, then next week camping, and maybe the next video will be Morse code! Not a recipe to grow a big channel. Good job I don't rely on it for an income! But I do honestly enjoy making my videos:)

That is without question the most INSPIRATIONAL you tube video I have ever EVER watched ! First it’s the Brompton- I’m totally in love with mine - for all the reasons (and much more ) that you describe. I cannot keep off my Brompton- I have many bikes and a v expensive porsche. But I love the Brompton- I cycle every day to the shops with it -I love camping too and I’ve found this channel and it’s a REVELATION, my advice is ignore the doctor - eat one meal a day - cut out sugar - reduce use of your motorbike - cycle and get the train with your Brompton to cities and cycle round them - camp more and ignore all the scares about your health - I envy your fitness . Excellent point about cycling slowly on rough rides with a Brompton- please please please do more videos of your Brompton - Your are bloody amazing! Rob

Haaha Rob, spot on:) Yes I can concur all good advice. Folk tend to over eat, I have been an intermittent faster in the past and a one meal a day too, but currently I do have a few snacks and probably 3 or 4 teaspoons of sugar in the coarse of a day.I know the sugar is bad, so will try and cut that out.
The brompton is an amazing bike, I shall be out on mine later cycling to the shops:)

You have a great channel Sandy, with excellent content. You don't push anything on anyone, just do your own thing. Relaxing, interesting jaunts with lots of variety, that's why I watch. Don't worry about those that whine and moan, if they are that upset there is always the option of getting up off their blots and making their own videos! Keep doing your own thing and we will keep watching! Enjoy your cycling, if its good for you then go for it!!

Sandy: when we were teenagers, before we had to work for a living, we would run to the woods every chance we got, and we played until the street lights came on, especially during the summer months. Then, circumstance forced us to settle down to jobs and bill payments and commitments that robbed our freedom. Our only motivation was a dream of retirement, where our childhood freedom could be restored. I agree with you, Sandy, camp when you feel the need, cycle as you please, hike where you wish to, make a knife or two, and if you happen to film it all, it ought to be a privilege for us to see it, not an entitlement. Be free, my friend. You've earned the right to it.

I've turned 60 last year and agree that regular cycling is a great way to stay fit and active, it also compensates for the motorcycle miles which I enjoy too much to give up!

Another great outing Sandy! Wife and I are about to take a day trip up to Vermont to enjoy the foliage, and have a roadside meal out, at my age that's about the extent of it for me. So I do live vicariously thru your channel and love comparing all the sister towns and city's you show, about 60% of everything around me came from your area. to name a few I live in Berkshire County, town Of Hancock, surrounding towns are Savoy, Gt Barrington, Monterey, Sheffield,Dalton,Pittsfield named after William Pitt, etc. and I am an Amateur Radio op like you are, (50+ yrs) enjoy CW, Not a devout camper anymore agn too old (pushing 80) so thanks for taking me along on all these great outings and sharing them with us. 73 gud dx de Ellis WA1RKS
