What a fantastic video. To be honest it tugged at the heart strings. In this screwed up world, it was great to see a pair of strangers get together, camp , get along, eat and drink and socialize. If I could do something like that, I would. Keep enjoying life Sandy because things can happen over night and before you know it you can’t do what you want. Thanks for sharing. Tony.
Another relaxing video. It is always great to see bikes that are being used for their intended purpose instead of being ‘worshipped’, overprotected and then abandoned in a shed or garage.
A very pleasent looking overnighter with a satisfying journey there and back. Shane looks to be a good camping companion. I hope we see him again. Best wishes Al
Great video, loved every minute. I could not stop thinking to myself how fantastic to meet up with a like minded stranger and enjoying eachothers company
Top man, Shane, the food looked mouth-watering! Agree about the bivvy tent; I tried one camping in Scotland, it was really oppressive, like a coffin made of canvas. I'm not a fan. I am a fan of this lovely video though. A feast for the senses, just missing out on smell-o-vision to fully appreciate the scent of the fire, the steaks and bacon cooking, and the fresh odour of spring 🙂
Great trip Sandy. A beautiful bike ride out to the beautiful and peaceful woodland and camping with a new friend. And then add in a camping feast with cold beer sitting around a campfire, it would be difficult to top that my friend. Thank you so much for letting us join you too. See you on the next one.
Oh isn't it wonderful to see the first shoots of spring! We walk around Cannock Chase most days, actually enjoy all the seasons but it will be nice to see some warmer days.
Well, thx for the shout-out and glad to see the spoon is still cooking to your satisfaction after 7 years! Really liked the camp and the bivi looked like the kind I used in the Army back in the day. Stay safe and healthy my friend!
Great video - that’s more food than I eat in 5 days ! Lots of bird sing -chiff chaff , blackbird ,great spotted woodpecker , wren ,green woodpecker ,pheasant , blackcap Robin , crow just to name a few
Yes Rob there are quite a few different species in this woodland. I love the dawn chorus but unfortunately my hearing isn't so good and I can no longer fully appreciate the dawn chorus. I hear more when I get back home and am able to turn up the volume to hear what the camera's mic picked up
I really enjoyed that video, thank you. great to see the 2 of you getting along, chatting away, sharing some grub and a drink. Loved the bit about ancient man stopping somewhere and as soon as the fires lit that becomes home. Its never actually crossed my mind in that way, but as soon as you said it, it struck home with me as to just how true that would be.
It's so rare to see a campfire in a British/Euro video. Here in Australia it's a given that it's the first thing we have after setting up the tent. Good to see👍.
Excellent Sandy , it seems stuff is blooming already down your way still a bit slow up here . It looked an enjoyable camp with a decent steak and a beer in hand keeping warm by the fire . Hopefully give my snugpack bivi it’s first outing next week 🚲⛺️👍 atb Dave
It's a good bivi Dave, I've used mine 3 times now:) Will be my goto bivi for bike packing this year. I'm heading up your way very soon but on the Motorcycle. First moto camp is at Bleatarn farm campsite then heading North to Loch Lomond
It’s so refreshing to see the signs of spring and the fabulous colours of the new hawthorn leaves bursting open. I have been away to the outer Hebrides for a holiday and noticed the hawthorns were bursting into leaf again whilst driving home.
The Outer Hebrides is somewhere I would love to visit, almost had it planned for a motorcycle touring trip but others couldn't manage it. One day I hope to get up there
@@WiltshireMan Well Sandy don’t know if you remember me but I have commented before and mentioned my battle with the big C, after that I no longer wait too long before I go to places. I can only say is that I can highly recommend Lewis and Harris, the island is totally stunning but be aware that everything shuts on a Sunday. I got a superb camp spot next to a beach on Harris and l actually took my little HF set with me, the ground plane effect from the salt water was amazing not that I spent long playing radio but I wanted to work a couple of stations with my prefix of GM3. As it was my father’s callsign I had a little think about him and hoped he could see me now. Have a search on UA-cam for a channel called “Kinging It”, a lovely young couple who have their own battle too but search for the NC500 play lists and you’ll see some of the beach camp spots that they visited. Anyway Sandy get yourself up there with Strom, you will love it. 73’s
Great video Sandy. Must have been really nice to share your camp (and a few beers) with a fellow bush-crafter. And this, the best time of the year! Cheers :)
Loved seeing your bootzipper all loaded up and out on the trails. It was unusual to see you sharing the wood with someone else. I wonder if he will be there when you turn up next time, as he’s the landowners friend. Those were lovely looking steaks. So nice to see the new green shoots bursting into life. Spring feels like it’s finally here.
What a great way to spend a night out camping than with a friend, and one who cooks you a big Steak!! and a brew to boot!. can't beat that. I chuckled at the remark. "Smile you're on 'candid Camera" I"m pushing 80 ( the 13th of the month) and I remember back in late 40's hearing that on the radio. this was long before everyone had TV's Radio was the entertainment then. and i remember Allen Funt doing the TV progam also. and to hear it remarked and remembered 1/2 way round the world is great!. Well Thanks to you Sandy and especially to Shane for an enjoyable video kudos and cheers to both of you 73! de Ellis WA1RKS
Happy Birthday Ellis or the 13th. We will have to try that sked at some point. I have a vertical up for 20 meters that should work if the conditions are favourable. However I shall be away for a few days, so maybe after your Birthday we could have a sked?
You are spoiling us with all these videos! Thanks. I went camping on April 2nd, it was freezing and there was ice on the tent but I survived and actually had a really good sleep. It made me think about your ridgeway adventures and other multi-day trips. Just camping one night was hard and taking all the stuff (I went in my car). To camp and walk 15 miles and repeat for several days is a mammoth task of endurance and organisation. I’m not ready for such an adventure! Keep inspiring WM 👍
Hi Sandy and Shane…super video, just the tonic, wonderful. Hopefully I will be out over bank holidays at some point. This has given me the urge….all the best.
Looks like nice weather for a camp Sandy. Your friend sounds like a pleasent person to share camp with. Lots of good food and good company is the best way to camp out. The pheasent's call always brings back great memories for me. I always think I should book a hunt, but it is never the same without my old friends that I used to go with.
I think there are only a handful of extremely dangerous (lethal) fungi here in the UK the rest are inedible/ indigestible and will cause various upsets and some are good eating. I know of a few but caution has to be exercised
Really very interesting video Sandy. On Monday 3rd April I went on my first Cycling Youth Hostel of the year to Stratford upon Avon. It was very enjoyable cycling around Shakespeare's countryside. The country side is bursting into life. Thank you Sandy for your adventure videos. Stay Safe.
I have the ionosphere, got the camo cover as an extra as well. what I was thinking is taking it to a tent mender, give em the fly and my very large and very heavy aqua quest camo tarp and see if they can't make a new fly from the tarp. it never gets used so why not.

Possibly the same night I was out. Cool night and a beautiful morning. Thanks for taking us along sandy
Cheers Darren,
I have been enjoying a fair bit of camping lately both in Wiltshire and up in Scotland on the motorbike:)

Good trip out Sandy as it looks both of you enjoyed it. Another friend made.
