  • Thanks for growing with us!
We have amazing news! Our final average frost date has passed and the forecast is showing that we are in the clear for late season cold! This means we can start planting some of the seedlings from the basement. First up is our edibles.
Based on our experience last season we know that we need to have irrigation. That is where Garden In Minutes Garden Grid Watering System comes in! This system was a breeze to install and comes completely assembled! It really only took minutes to get set up. Naturally we made it way more complicated than necessary by connecting the beds together, but the company itself sells other accessories to make that happen. Click the link below to check them out.

Christopher! You did an amazing job with the seedlings. While I do love going to the nurseries and picking out plants there is something special about nurturing and taking care of a plant from seed to maturity. I can’t wait to see how everything turns out!

It's so good that you can find a company that does the grid. I've seen those on UA-cam, but I know I don't have the patience to do that. I'm glad we can plant again. That watering system is a fabulous idea, no more watering by hand with buckets of water. Being an older gardener it would be wonderful to just turn on the system and not worry. Your Jack be littles will grow just fine on the trellis. You will need to guide it onto the trellis for about a foot or so in order for the tendrils to firmly latch on. You won't have to worry about the weight of the pumpkin dangling, they are light enough.
I grow all my vine crops(squash, pumpkins zucchini, cucumbers gourds) vertically for space. I "hammock," a term I use for the pantyhose weight support I tie under my larger fruits, when the weight is over 3lbs..
That drip system will be very helpful, especially for the pumpkins, they are very heavy drinkers.
    As always, looks fantastic guys!

Great Video on irrigation. I live in Central California, 9b. I have 16 raised beds and have tried many different drip irrigation systems. My issue is with the squirrels. They have chewed holes in all of my drip lines and I am always fixing the damage. I finally changed to drip tape and for some reason they don't seem to do much damage to that. For those who say the squirrels are looking for water and put water out for them, well I live with creeks on both sides of my property so water is not an issue. Also, I grow those little pumpkins on my arched trellis and they need no extra support. I have them with growing with my cherry tomatoes.
