Tarja 🖤She is a former member of a band she founded with two other members when she was 19. She was with them for 9 years. Her breakup with the band was very dramatic and the drama still divides fans to this day. Tarja now has a successful solo career as a rock and classical singer. She studied classical singing at two universities and was never really an opera singer, despite what many people think. She only learned metal with Nightwish. Anette replaced Tarja in 2007. Now she is their singer Floor. Nightwish's music during the Tarja era was the most dramatic, gothic and power metal of any era. Nightwish's music has changed with each singer and each singer sings in a different way. Anette brought a pop element to Nightwish and Floor is described as the most rock singer the band had.

Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Helsinki, Finland in 2005, then together with Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya], the 1st female singer of the band, and Marco Hietala, bassist and singer.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals) - you just heard her. She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen] from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile).
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

This performance was with their original lead singer Tarja Turunen.
Now their lead singer is Floor Jansen. Both singers are phenomenal. There was also another singer between those two, Anette Olzon. Great singer, too.
Tarja was with Nightwish until this specific concert, End of an Era. After that, she has been touring around the world with her solo shows for almost 20 years.

To me this is by far the best version of phantom tarja and Marco are just magic Marco dark phantom take this to me is the best by the way after this performance tarja was sacked as they came off stage they never sang together again for 18yrs until about a month ago and it was pure magic

You've done it now, you've opened the door into symphonic metal, there is no going back. Nightwish, Epica, Visions of Atlantis, Therion, Within Temptation, and on and on.
Tarja's classical singing and the guys' metal background combined is what put Nightwish on the map, they had that wow effect bc they were original and wildly talented 🎉 Tarja isn't with the band anymore but her solo music is amazing too so all good 😊

Nightwish with Tarja was wonderful, in its time it was very different from everything else. I recommend innocence from the show circus life from her solo career, this one has an incredible piano solo.

"We need some fast double bass drum"..Im not sure if it's exactly what you are looking for, but there is an old track out there by the group Masterplan called "Spirit never dies"..you will be blown away. Most people can't comprehend that something like that is out there, and it's a shame.

Tarja Turunen; one of three Founding Members, original Vocalist and Frontwoman, muse of Tuomas, and composer of her vocal lines for all Nightwish albums from 1996-2004. Currently, one of the greatest Female Soloists; she's a living legend. She and Marko Hietala remain, to this day, one of the greatest Male-Female paired vocalists in any music genre. Their 2005 "Phantom" is on the record for being Andrew Lloyd Webber's GOAT cover of his iconic song. Marko was exactly the Phantom he'd always wanted.

Check Tarja´s solo work it´s really worth your time🤘. I´ve been checking your reactions, and I know your´re gonna love it🤓. She was the original singer from Nighttwish, and with her the heaviest era of the band. Then they decided go towards a poppier and fantasy sound maintaining some of their unique style in order to become a "world known band" (they were quite famous with tarja as a frontwoman)...sadly Tarja´s vocie made the band to me😕...but Nightwish will always be one of the best band that exist in this world, so keep those reactions coming!
actually it was the last concert with Tarja Turunen after this concert she left Nightwish.

They are from my country Finland. And Tarja is the original lead singer since the beginning. And the best of the 3. Nobody else sing this song like this. And "more rice" = allright.

Tarja (the female singer) WAS part of the group. The live you see was called end of an ERA, because she as leaving the group.
Thats why you see the people in the crowd and the drummer crying at the start.
