Mishkin’s death always bothered me. You had an honest and hard-working official who was trying to get to the bottom of what happened, and when he found out what happened, he was killed.
It sucks because in those few seconds you can tell who his loyalties are shifting toward...Oroumov was clearly toast and was gonna be dealt with. But more importantly, Bond lost a potentially great ally. They could easily have slotted this guy into the subsequent movies but in a more casual setup like Zukovsky (them in a scene together would've been interesting). He retires from government and sets up his own private security/intelligence/defense thing...so many missed opportunities...the stuff with Carver, Renard, Graves...Mishkin could have popped up at any stage during those plots to give Bond the low down...
What bothers me more about the scene is how the guards didn't react to the initial gun shots but come when he yells. The guy who plays the villain has a great face and he makes a great bad guy
Lol. It's very easy though. First you meet that dumass who somehow didn't investigate his general who crossed him and resigned right away. Then just don't fire at the guards guarding Natalya when you enter the room, walk away, she doesn't get scared and doesn't run away and then you shoot the window to escape. I always had problems with train 00 agent shooting Xenia as well without killing Natalya.

I know your comment is 11 years old but man I agree! Mishkin's character was great, even though he barely had a couple of minutes of screen time. I really wish he had the same treatment as the N64 game.
Mishkin was very clever here. He purposely riles up Bond in order to get the truth out of Natalya. Hence his, "You were you saying something about the lost art of interrogation, Mr. Bond."
OH MY GOD I actually never caught on. When he said that, I thought he meant something like "Let's talk some more, Mr. Bond." only to be interrupted by Ouromov.
***** Hey Dave, I just searched him up, it's actually Gottfried John. He's a Deutscher? A Deutscher playing a Russian? That could work I guess. Isabella Scorupco (Natalya) is Polish, on another note. Bond movies should have turned into Bond grabbing an AK47 and just shooting up everyone and everything in sight? That's sounds like a horrible thing for James Bond to turn into.
