Tbh most of it looks like classic D&D ruleset or Diablo 2 abilities. It's awesome - dont get me wrong - but it is nothing new. All I hope they make endgame not "currency farm only" where you play 1 button builds that feel like vampire survivor. PoE is an awesome game, but if it had a "class limited" skillsystem it would have similar issues as d4 because 90% of the abilities are not usable in the endgame. Currently you have mostly 20-30 abilities over all classes that can be played with a almost fixed meta of support gems. I love PoE, but one of the most reasons it looks so complex is because it hides a lot of information.
GGG has never made a good build for showcases. Any player with at least a double digit IQ can come to the conclusion that we will be MUCH stronger (than what is shown in the GGG showcase gameplay) both during the campaign and during maps, as it has literally always been for over a decade now.

It's so exciting to see all the inspiration coming through from D2 into PoE2. As PoE tried to be a spiritual successor to D2 it's exciting to see PoE2 following in that same spirit but with more. Woop!

obviously every class is being created with love and care, but i really get the feeling that the PoE2 class designers put everything they had into making their druid the best druid.
I love that trigger gems don't have to be linked anymore to gem that triggers them. So in the shown example you can go for full damage with support gems on your channel skill and have your "cast while channeling" setup in a different combo.

Interestingly, this is how trigger skills work in Torchlight Infinite. Works great there, but has some issues, and I’m supremely confident GGG will knock it out of the park.
I was already very interested in playing druid when it releases, but now I want it even more. that interaction between exerted rampage and volcano is nutty
The druid looks incredible (the stance switching is very similar to D4, but the bear looks so much better in my opinion). While every skill potentially being 6 linked is good, they need to have some way to scale multiple very different damage types at once.
I feel like this is just a flex on blizzard at this point. They took essentially everything about the druid in d4 (the lava skill from d2) and just polished it to be fun. I'm not a huge poe player and I've played diablo a lot more than poe but this is looking seriously good.
I do find it funny the PoE druid both looks more aesthetically like the D2 druid than the D4 druid does, and also has skills more in line with it. Modern Blizzard is so embarrassing.

i think a lot of people (including me) are gonna play druid for their first playthrough of PoE2. its such a fun archetype that i always wanted to play in PoE.
A detail that is a sign of good devs : the ui is the same as poe 1 because they know it was good and didn't needed to be changed. They didn't change it for the sake of changing it like almost every devs do and always fucked up. Poe is really the true successor of Diablo 2. PoE1 is D3 and PoE2 is D4.
Yea, just a few touches here and there, like the improved stat sheet on your character window, showing the resists, armour/evasion/energy shield and such.

Jesus, can't wait to play this. I was never the biggest fan of POE post level 70 and main story cause i didn't have the time to really invest into the skill tree and other systems, but the game looks like it's more engaging for sure in POE 2 as far as combat goes which makes me want to learn more.

Between the 3 month ongoing beta to figure out some numbers and the fact that they'll br using PoE 1 league mechanics the launch state is already gonna be much better than D4's. They can probably even get away with only having half or 1/3 of the PoE core league mechanics on launch as long as they continue with the regular league cycle. It's for sure gonna have hitches and need balances in the first couple leagues, but i highly doubt it will be in a similarly tragic state as D4.
After D4's "Druid" experience, i'll be more than happy to try it in PoE 2, it looks way better. Also imagine D4's devs seeing these interactions like slamming a volcano or channeling thing, their tiny, uncreative brains will implode.
what i wanna know is - is that rampage move a channel? summoning a buncha volcanos while rampaging sounds SO fun (either way totally rolling a druid in poe2 omg)
There's another video where they explain the mechanics, but iirc, it's a regular skill that burns through your rage meter to keep 'rampaging'. I think you can only have one volcano at a time.

The quick switching between forms based on which ability you use is definitely the best implementation of a Druid/Transforming class in any ARPG so far, can't wait to get my hands on this!
It isn't "cool and trendy" to hate on D4, it's simply a mediocre game. It's not bad by any means, I loved the campaign and story stuff, but beyond that? There isn't much going for it. Yes, the druid does do a *similar* thing in D4, but it doesn't look nearly as well designed or smooth as what was shown in this video. Nor do you have anywhere near the level of options or customizations for skills as you would on your Druid in PoE.@@Schizm1

So how does a druid clear screens and blast through maps late game? The animations dont look like they are supposed to be fast at all. So maybe the aoe just becomes huge and you slam down once on each pack as your clear skill?

ripping off lightning exactly like in d4 also helps, + the pure poe1 stuff (volcano as shown is the volcanic part from volcanic fissure,) with some slam mechaninc working like earthshatter. POE 2 druid add skills on top on each other (slamming volcano literally) where d4 druids blend together forces of nature . I really like those 2 different flavor. so i won't say that poe 2 druid is a re-creation, but more it's own take on what is a "karui druid"

@gabrob3449 D2 druids had fire skills, including a volcano, there are no fire skills in D4 for the druid so it is a more faithful re- creation. Obviously it has a POE twist but the druid on display here is objectively closer to a D2 druid than what D4 offered.

This was really interesting to see. It looks FANTASTIC. It also was a great comparison between plans for POE2 and what D4 has done. At its core, there were a great number of similarities between a D4 druid and a PoE2 druid: shapeshifting on demand, lightening abilities, summoned wolves, and tornadoes. However, this demo was great for highlighting one of the things that is lacking in D4 - skill interactions. Yes the classes are quite similar on the surface, but the options to auto-cast, to trigger cast, and to synergize are so much better in PoE2. So, hats off to them for taking the same concepts and making them just better. I know it is unpopular, but I really do still enjoy D4 in a causal way, but I think PoE is always going to be several steps ahead when it comes to more intricate and deep long term play.
Honestly i know a lot of people dont like the slow aspect of poe 2 but honestly i feel like with the amount of weight skills have in this game id take it
It would be great if PoE2 could enable a more varied playstyle of using multiple skills. Most often in arpgs you have one main skill and then some other utility stuff which as he said in the video causes even different builds that use different skills to actually play very similar. Remains to be seen if that wil be viable once players get their hand on the game and start optimizing.

Support gems don't provide damage anymore. The most dps a support gem has provided was 5%.

They obviously learned a lot from Exilecon. This looks so much smoother. Movespeed makes such a huge difference.

I played Druid at Gamescom and it was awesome.
Demo was towned down a lot from Exilecon though I think. It was pretty easy beating the bosses.

I really like those 2 different flavor. so i won't say that poe 2 druid is a re-creation, but more it's own take on what is a "karui druid"
@@gabrob3449 I don't think this would be karui at all, but Ezomyte, who are kind of the Irish/Celtic/Scottish insert in PoE's world.
@@zeriel9148 maybe. im not that versed in poe lore, anyway . thought bout karui cause all of those link to fire flavor that they have. Anyway it's still have his own flavor which was the prmiary point .
@gabrob3449 D2 druids had fire skills, including a volcano, there are no fire skills in D4 for the druid so it is a more faithful re- creation. Obviously it has a POE twist but the druid on display here is objectively closer to a D2 druid than what D4 offered.

The poe twist is truly his own flavor . volcanic fissure earth shatter tectonic slam .... . d2 fire skills like Volcano,fireclaw,armageddon (mage spell btw in d1) is something im well aware off. and that's the reason why im maintaining what i've said , even if someone else told me that's more ezomyte than karui. it don't change much to the flavor poe gone for

Druid looks sick
This was really interesting to see. It looks FANTASTIC. It also was a great comparison between plans for POE2 and what D4 has done. At its core, there were a great number of similarities between a D4 druid and a PoE2 druid: shapeshifting on demand, lightening abilities, summoned wolves, and tornadoes. However, this demo was great for highlighting one of the things that is lacking in D4 - skill interactions. Yes the classes are quite similar on the surface, but the options to auto-cast, to trigger cast, and to synergize are so much better in PoE2. So, hats off to them for taking the same concepts and making them just better. I know it is unpopular, but I really do still enjoy D4 in a causal way, but I think PoE is always going to be several steps ahead when it comes to more intricate and deep long term play.

Honestly i know a lot of people dont like the slow aspect of poe 2 but honestly i feel like with the amount of weight skills have in this game id take it

It would be great if PoE2 could enable a more varied playstyle of using multiple skills. Most often in arpgs you have one main skill and then some other utility stuff which as he said in the video causes even different builds that use different skills to actually play very similar. Remains to be seen if that wil be viable once players get their hand on the game and start optimizing.
