    I just purchased a 2021 Corolla SE and found a few things I didn’t like.
    1) There is a lack of storage space. I only have the arm rest storage compartment, the glove box, and a small shelf under the dash board.
    2) The other problem I found was I’m unable install my dash camera. The cigarette lighter is now in the arm rest and my camera wire is not long enough to reach the box.
    3) The USB port to connect to the vehicles radio or CarPlay will only operate with a real apple lighting cable. If connect with an aftermarket cable the system will not operate.
    No other complaints other than that so far I’m happy.

      Richard Favreau I have only had the vehicle for about one week, the rims and tires are a concern since it is a sporty 18” rim the tire 18R225. A new tire will run me about $175 - $235 each. I will try to avoid pot hole and getting the rim damaged but my commute to work is mostly freeway 75 miles one way. I did purchase a warranty package that will covers the rims, tires, windshield, and any small door dings for the life of the vehicle. It was $795. This warranty is offered as an ad on at the dealership and recorded in the Toyota system data base with you vehicle vin number. Any Toyota dealership service department will honor the coverage. The steering is fine. Sport mode does give you a bit of a boost while driving. My old (still running) Toyota is a 2013 with 280k miles. Transmission is starting to slip a little. Visibility on the new Toyota is good. Sterling is fine no complaints.

      Richard Favreau I got 12% off the sticker price / MSRP. The SE comes in a few packages. The one I have is the SE that lists at 23,723. They offer a loyalty discount of 1k if your buying cash or in one payment. They also have a $500 discount for “active military” and $500 for “recent”collage grads. No 0% offer for the 2021 just 1.9% for a credit score of 720+

      Richard Favreau I typically run these corollas into the ground. I put thousands of miles on these cars without any issues. The vehicle is essential for getting me to and from work. The Corolla is affordable and highly reliable. Thanks for the support.

      @Richard Favreau Visibility is outstanding, and im a big guy. I do have to lower my head when entering though, but I could easily do 2oo miles in this no problem.

      It runs my Android phone with an aftermarket USB C cable. Maybe it's an Apple issue.

    Great video, as usual, though I don't know why I can't remove the video transport buttons in the center of the screen.
    The Corolla finally has decent power for the SE/XSE, and still have the reliability or a N/A engine like the Honda Civic Sport Sedan/Coupe. It is not a high performance car, but TRD has the air cleaner element and cold air intake kit available, with a growing number or aftermarket components to improve suspension, brakes, get larger wheels and tires that fit and are streetable, and potentially more engine performance, albeit with possible decrease in reliability, durability and longevity.
    The Corolla SE is a value over the already great XSE with most of all the essential appearance and performance equipment for a lot less. The XSE is nice, and would get a Blueprint one if I could, but the SE would just be fine with OEM accessories and other things I would add with the money I saved. I don't need the adaptive headlights, power and heated seats, and such, though the wireless charger would be nice. I believe there is a data usb port, auxiliary audio input near that phone storage area fronting the center shifter console, in addition to the power usb and 12volt in the center console storage compartment. A dual usb power outlet for the back of the center console is available as a dealer installed option if not installed with a special order, or added by the dealership when they configure the car.
    I would consider getting a 6 speed, if I could find one if it was available with a JBL stereo, which is a must for me. But I wish I could get the SE with the regular key lock and ignition, and without the sunroof, but have the cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring. The SE is only available here in Hawaii with one option package. The XSE has a nice, full LED instrument panel, but like you, I like the SE sporty analog gauges. I was previously looking at the Honda Civic Sport Sedan for more reliability, but the sedan body is so common, and the Corolla SE is much better for about the same price, though the Civic Sport has better steering feel. But the Corolla SE has the available 800 watt JBL stereo, not previously offered in a Corolla, especially at a lower trim level. Rear seat room is not that good, but more than the hatchback, but I would rarely have passengers in the rear. Everything else is pretty much how I like it. A loaded Camry XSE with the JBL stereo and similar equipment is over $10K more, and too big for what I want and need now. I had five big cars, and began to prefer smaller cars now since my last one I had.

    • @johnsonjacob3525
      @johnsonjacob3525 4 роки тому

      @Richard Favreau The main premium feature I want is the JBL stereo, but even the Nightshade SE is not available with that.

    • @johnsonjacob3525
      @johnsonjacob3525 4 роки тому

      @Richard Favreau I am not going to hot rod and abuse it. Plan to change the trasmission fluid and synthetic oil chages when recommended. So I am good to go. You get most of the essentisl goodies of the XSE with the SE and save money you can use on window tint, a good dash cam, accessories like the floor and trunk weather mats and such, and the other mods and upgrades I mentioned in my other comments. And have the best, most reliabke compact car, now with a great factory stereo, style, and finally decent HP after all these years.

    • @johnsonjacob3525
      @johnsonjacob3525 4 роки тому

      @Richard Favreau The XSE is great, but the SE is even better, as I stated previously, because of how little it conpromises for much less money, but still gave lots if the goodies as an option, but a dependable non turbo engine and well equipped, like the Honda Civic Sport Sedan, but not as common looking, and even better equipped, especially the stereo and sunroof as an option, and the same wheel/tire package and even outside mirror turn signals standard. Other than the optional adaptive headlights, the only difference on the exterior is the black rear spoiler instead of color keyed one, slightly smoke tint reverse light lenses, and the sunroof, if you don't have the option package, and the under hood liner. And thise could be switched/added if you want. Someone with an SE got the black spoiker put on at their dealership, and I am sure you could get the hood liner and XSE taillights through the dealership parts department or special ordered or online.
      The XSE full LED instrument panel is nice, but I actualky like the sporty old school analog gauges from the SE. I could deal without the extra interior perks of the XSE, that are mostly power convenience and cosmetic, again not much of a compromise.
      If you are not finicky about the stereo and other options, the base SE is great, especialky if you want the 6 speed or a Nightshade Edition. You coukd still get a quality aftermarket dsp processor, amops and speakers/subwoofer if you wanted to. So many options, and I eoukd go withba Rockford Fosgate setup if I did. And a few OEM options lije the wheel locks, and protective options like the floor/trunk weather mats, door edge guards, rear bumper and outside door
      handle cup protectors, black emblems, clear license plate covers and nice black frames.
      Many of those, and the performance upgrades can be gotten later.

    The new Toyota Corollas are notorious for the sinking brake pedal problem. This problem shows later after purchase, and eventually becomes a safety problem. The dealership told me that a new brake pad and adjustment are fixes, but the same problem comes back after a couple of miles. Buyers beware.

    Good review! Precisely last night a 2021 white SE w/6-speed showed up in my area. I was decided to go and see it after work today, but thanks to this review...Toyota lost a customer. Why? Well, I want a manual, but also want ALL the safety tech available today! Toyota opted to give us (for $250 more) a Sunroof, Push Start Button and Smart Key (features that are basically NOT that important & CAN'T SAVE LIFES!!!) instead of BSM and RCTA! Wow!...that's smart. And you wonder why the few of us out there who still want to buy a manual have to end up buying crappy CVT trans and regular automatic trans. Subaru also doesn't offer any Safety Features on their manual Impreza or Crosstrek. Then people wonder why manual sales are down!?...It's NOT that people don't want them, but more like car manufacturers are actively working hard at depleting these cars of features so people just give up on them. Well, a BIG F*** You! @ToyotaUSA

      @Richard Favreau I was looking at the 30s range of the market and kept coming back to the Camry TRD... Just something about the engineering in it. But cash is king in these times and as my favorite YT mechanic says "I'd be stupid not to buy...".
      @TeslaXYZ sorry bud, but the SE ain't fast by any stretch of the imagination. Fun & spirited is the farthest I'd go.

      I believe the port in the dashboard is the data USB, where you plug your phone or USB flash drive with music files into, and in the center console storage, a charging USB port.

    Just drove the LE as a rental. Not bad but the main screen seems like something they bolted on to the vents. Just like an afterthought. Hit navigation and it says you have to get an app. Pretty cheesy. I mean gee for a GPS it's like 100 dollars if that. Stop being so darn cheap and include it with a 20,000 dollar car. Giant wasted screen then no room to mount a GPS. Bolt an IPAD to your vents on your old Corolla LOL.

      @Richard Favreau I actually got it through the Costco Auto Program, and it really was no hassle and went smooth. Finding a manual sedan was the toughest part. 22.2k before taxes & 450 in fees. That was for 2021 Sedan SE 6MT with floormats, doorguard, and upper-bumper protection options (had little choice on those). This is in San Francisco Bay area..

    • @whyno713
      @whyno713 3 роки тому

      @Richard Favreau I actually tried to get 600 more off, but when there's very few manual sedans to go around within 500 miles, especially 2021s with Android Auto (2020 don't have it) and the color I wanted, the dealer said he'd be done a favor if I walked and wouldn't have to honor the Costco price to the next customer who'd pay more. Supply & demand ruled in this case.
      I've been shopping since July so knew my inventory options and what price range I could get. Also, the price in SF Bay is quite different than other cheaper parts of the country...

    I think the manual would be harder to sell to a second owner.

    • @johnsonjacob3525
      @johnsonjacob3525 4 роки тому +3

      Maybe not. The manual will have longer life and reliability than the CVT, with the main contributing factor is if the prospective driver wants to drive a stick. And to me, because the JBL sound system is not available with the 6 speed, for some unknown reason.

    • @johnsonjacob3525
      @johnsonjacob3525 4 роки тому +1

      And another point. I think the manuals are harder to find, so may have some value potential, since they don't produce as many of them as the CVT version. Like the Apex edition has 6000 being made, with only 120 being a 6 Speed. Ditto for the Honda Civic Sport Sedan/Coupe, as well as the turbo Sport Hatchback and Sport Touring Hatchback.

  • @lurdjosephswanzy3371
    @lurdjosephswanzy3371 2 роки тому

    Toyota will definitely ruin the reputation of the Corolla with this CVT….. especially when it looks like they don’t care what consumers/patrons say about it. From the 2020 model all the way to 2023 models. This will get me off the Corolla. Honestly!!!🤦🏽‍♂️

  • @kencai6803
    @kencai6803 4 роки тому

    Looking forward to the TRD Corolla, Toyota is going to release the APEX Corolla soon if I remember it right.

    • @johnsonjacob3525
      @johnsonjacob3525 4 роки тому

      The Apex may be available now, at certain dealerships, or via special order ot to reserve one. It is basically simìlar in approach to the Camry TRD, but being that they called it the APEX, may indeed mean they may have a TRD with a higher output engine coming, since more people are apt to tune or mode the Corolla than the Camry. TRD already has available, a low restriction air filter element, cold air intake and oil filter kit. It would be nice if the Apex Exhaust, and the suspension upgrades and maybe even the body kit add-ons were made available for those that want it.
      There is also a growing number of aftermarket components for suspension, brake, and larger wheel/tire upgrades if you want to mod and race the Corolla sedan or hatchback. Or you could go with just Akebono performance brake pads, high performance brake fluid, and the Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit or Sportline shocks with Eibach springs. The Sportline lowers your car slightly more. The above TRD pieces and a match performance exhaust could enhance performance, while keeping factory reliability and drivability.
