Votto is having one of his best years in 2021. Today is August 15th. He has 316 ABs, 26 HRs, 75 RBIs His SLG & OBS are higher than his career average. He is batting .285 and even has a SB. He has been one of, if not the, hottest hitters since the AS break. Since the break, he has 15HRs and his OPS is 1.293. He is swinging the bat great this year and the Reds are making a run for a Wild Card spot. They are 8 over .500 and 2.5 behind SlamDiego for the WC.

Look at all the videos where he doesn't step up for his pitchers. The Posey rule is crap. When you're trying to score and there is someone in your way, you should be able to get that run doing whatever it takes. Catchers have gear runners don't. 7:27 - a patch in Kershaw's career with the Tigers, eh?
Verlander's one of those weird elements. He possesses perhaps the only impossible inning ever pitched (the one where he persistently climbs 2-3 MPH every pitch at the end of a game to destroy the side) and his revitalization in Houston is insane. One might say he's a *fine wine* .

Here's a few guys that have done great but need a little more help also...Goldy, Stanton, Bauer, Kimbrel, Arenado
And here's a few with a good start but need another 5 years to see if they can keep the pace... Blackmon, Story, Strasburg, Harper, Cole
I did some research on pitchers...figuring age, averaging 15 wins until age 38 and 13 after that, ERA, and strikouts...Kershaw, Verlander, and Scherzer should all get to 250-275 wins which should get them into the Hall...Verlander might get up to 3rd and Scherzer 4th-6th all-time in strikeouts...they will make the HOF
Cole needs time and a few big years...with Strasburg and Bauer, age and missed time come into play, they might barely get 200, maybe 225 wins

I think Joey Votto would easily make the HOF if he retired today. He's currently the 17th highest OBP in major league history with a .4213. Highest OBP among active players, with the second being Mike Trout at .4188, both of whom are comfortably above the next highest active player, Cabrera at .3922.
He's also 27th in OPS in major league history at .9407, 2nd among active players behind Mike Trout (and higher than Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera).
He lags behind a little bit in Slugging, but he's still 64th in major league history there, with a .5194. He does fall behind Trout, Pujols, Stanton, Arenado, Cabrera, Martinez, Braun, Nelson Cruz and Goldschmidt among active players, however. But power wasn't even really his game and he still ranks among the best all time.

No one goes to the hall of fame for the postseason stats. Only people who are almost in the Hall of Fame in the regular career and then have amazing postseason careers, sometimes get the extra inch and ich their way into the Hall. inyourfacevideos96 I’m huge Phillies fan from philly and Cole has had a really good solid career but not hall of fame he never had those big Cy Young Type years I think 2011 he was 5 but that year cliff lee and Roy hallsday were also 2,3 in Cy Young also that’s Kershaw first Cy Young year. Speaking of I think Kershaw should won 2017 Cy Young over max more wins better era only little less Ks and innings and Kershaw shouldn’t beat dicky in 2012 and maybe even beat arrietta in 2015 idk just saying Kershaw is crazy great lifetime era at 2.4 that’s unheard of

Great video. As for the players you mentioned, I agree with nine of them. Votto is still a question for me - I think he will get in if he has a couple more productive years though, and he's a good dude. I like that you included Molina.... He has favorable stats when compared to Ozzie Smith, and Ozzie got in based upon his defensive prowess. Molina is also great on D, so he's in.

I know he is retired but Joe Mauer is definitely a Hall of Famer, he is one of the greatest hitting catchers of all time

      dmar 02 it’s borderline for Mauer, not a shoo-in.

If you ask the same question 15 years ago, Trout is no HOF yet. He has less than 300 HR, not even 800 RBI and his career avg of .306 is not elite level as many HOF hitters avg well over .300 during their prime years as well. Need at least 400 HR and 1300 RBI to start the HOF talk old days. Same goes for many pitchers mentioned here as guys with 250W 2500K could not get into the Hall before but nowadays, perception of pitchers changed a lot.

Mike would not make the HOF, if he retired today.
A player must have played for 10 seasons to be eligible.

J D correct. His numbers are PLENTY good enough, he just needs the service time. Barring a career ending injury, he’s certainly getting in.

@@MuthafuckinPuddings it's literally against the rules. If someone voted for him, their ballots would've been thrown out. The only time the 10 year rule has been waived was for a guy who died after his 9th season

@@dkroll92 I feel like they would waive it for Trout though, if for some reason he didn't play his 10th season. You can't have a guy with 3 MVPs not make the HOF if they haven't been suspected of cheating like Arod or Bonds.

@@MuthafuckinPuddings I mean, Lefty O'Doul played 7 seasons and has a career batting average over .340 and a career OPS over .940 and he's not in. They have rules for a reason. The BBWA considers longevity part of being a Hall of Famer.

@@robertcampbell8070 True. But Lefty played in an era where those numbers aren't as impressive as they are today. Also, he has a career rWAR of 25, whereas Trout is sitting around 72. You can't really compare the two.

    Hi.
First of all let me tell you that I love your videos and please keep up the good work. I would like to ask you something though. I love baseball but I live in France which means I don't get to see loads of content on this sport. I discovered it last year and I kinda fell in love with it. I have only a problem, the stats. Indeed at first I didn't get any of'em. Now, by listening to commentators and youtubers and so on and so forth I got the hang on some of them. But there are so many I don't know or don't understand. Could you please make a video or several videos explaining each stat ? I would really appreciate it. I didn't know who to ask and then I discovered your channel. Thank you anyway and keep the videos coming.
