Everyone: you need to be flexible to be good at ballet!
Me: are you calling me bad 😂 thanks

To those people, I say: I didn't realize there was a finish line when it's over and done... also where is it because I've been running this race for a while 😂
Anyway, ballet is about being well-rounded and to keep working on improvement! Even if your strength isn't flexibility today, it doesn't mean you don't have room to grow. 😊

Thank you so much for these tips! I am hypermobile, which means I need to do more strength building and conditioning, also in greater ranges of motion, instead of just passive stretching. I am so glad you talked about hamstring injuries. They are more common than we think. I injured both of my hamstrings 3 years ago, but mostly my right tendon, that attaches on the pelvis. It took so long to heal and even now I have times where it starts to hurt if I either train too much or stretch a lot. That's when I know I have to take a step back.
Your presence on youtube is so refreshing, because as dancers we sort of expect from us to wake up in a split and be able to do crazy things. When in reality that might just be too extreme. I am so glad you also talked about being gentle etc. :) progress is not linear and life is not going to improve constantly.
Thank you for bringing a healthy mindset into my day!

Yesss love your attitude!! That's what I really want to cultivate here, is a healthy mindset and be gentle with yourself.
Thanks for your nice comment 😊 I'm sorry about your injury, but it sounds like you learned something from it anyway. And if you're hypermobile, I can't recommend Gyrotonics enough!! It depends on the teacher, but if they are responsive to your need to strengthen your flexibility, that training can help you in really unique ways and get those deep muscles!
Hope you'll be back to watch more!! 💓

I love random crafts. I do them all the time. Makes me saucy!! lol. Things to do: figure out the sequence of stretches that work for YOU. It took me almost 6 months (!) to figure out what muscles to stretch, in what order, for the most benefit. Things not to do: don't stretch every day! Your body needs time to replace the collagen you busted during stretching. It's important and it's why you can do the splits one day but not the next.

I can imagine it's a lot like strengthening muscles, you need rest days!
