Sonic Adventure 2 - Final Rush M1 (skipless) speedrun in

- Oh yeah, I gotta upload something again. I originally wanted to do this in one segment but im not in my best shape currently I feel like. Good run though, only mistake was hitting the ring capsule before the wallrun, could have been a second lower if that didnt happen
Didn't expect this run to get many views when I uploaded it so the video title uses "skipless" as that's a community term that might be misleading. "Skipless" refers to not using a particular strat that allows you fall from a part at the beginning of the level to the end, which is called Final Rush skip. Doing Final Rush skip results in you not actually playing through any of the sections aside from the very beginning, so you spend the whole level out of bounds without actually seeing any part of the level, and allows you to get times in the 1:20s, all the way down to 1:05 depending on which variation you do. "Skipless" does not mean you do everything as intended or don't skip any smaller platforming challenges, it means you go through every section of the level, which I do in this run. The wallrun or the ending are skips, but they're only very minor compared to the large skip that is possible in the stage that is usually done in speedruns nowadays.
Anyways, this isn't even my best run of this, a year later I did a run that's a couple of seconds faster, so watch that one instead: ua-cam.com/video/mnWFsSDb2vg/v-deo.html
You beat this level just like how Sonic would do it in a cutscene.
Speed it up by 2x and it's even more realistic
This simple sentence is exactly the mindset Sonic Team needs to take when designing levels. The levels should be open enough for players to make their own way to the end, and the game mechanics should be loose and free enough for players to experiment and find faster and faster or more interesting routes for themselves.
My jaw dropped when you ran UP the wall
I was LITERALLY just about to post this EXACT comment!! I had to bend down and pick my jaw back up from the floor!! XD
That wall run strat was beyond cool.
U mean way past cool
I like this type of stuff, it makes it feel like it's something Sonic would actually do. It's brilliant!
00:57 sick wall run
There are some pretty cool techniques I didn't knew that could be performed, great run.
This is by far the best gameplay I ever witness keep up the awesomeness
I didn't know Sub 2 was humanly possible, but now that I do I'm not gonna give up until I accomplish it myself! Thanks for giving me the confidence to keep trying!
I can't be the only kid who jumped from the very top of the rail all the way to the bottom. Floating through space. This game was genius. The best Sonic Games were the original on Sega Genesis and the Sonic Adventure games on Sega Dreamcast. No other games matter. The sense of speed in those games are the best.
i feel like i saw this comment before
This is the most beautiful speedrun of Sonic I've ever seen, cuz it's glitchless and skipless(except the last jump through the wall at the end, but that's okay).
To me, this is how Sonic gameplay should be, not that cheap automated boost crap. I'm not saying we need a Sonic Adventure 3, but we need another Sonic game with this gameplay style, except obviously more redefined and updated.
And I loved how you used wall running like that. That needs to be an actual game mechanic if they make another Adventure-style Sonic. And I know wall running is already included in the Adventure series, but it's only situational. Like the part he wall runned here, I doubt the developers intended players to do that, but it still looks amazing.
@A-Dubs
Okay, first of all.. Not EVERY Boost formula Sonic game was automated.. that goes to Sonic Forces, THAT game is REALLY automated.
Second of all, Unleashed (HD) was challenging, you had to have quick reflexes and a LOT of memorization just to beat the stages perfectly, there were PLENTY of obstacles in the game's level design.
Does that sound "automated" to you?!
@@DarkShadowX9 yeah unleashed compared to forces in difficulty is like night and day, unleashed has some of the most challenging gameplay in the sonic franchise
Spectacular. You guys are incredible
Hard to believe a person actually did this. Feels like a TAS.
I am so impressed right now, this feels i real yet so satisfying to watch. Amazing work
This is so dang impressive
I loved that so freaking much
B RANK?! I guess if the whole level was done with one life it would be an A/S
Well that and a good portion of the time, you need a ridiculous ring or enemy point count. That's why a Gold Beetle is "required" to get an A rank in most stages (not including the hunting, not really even sure they have gold beetles.)
They died once, i think that kills the a rank
@@philatio1744 Yeah but I do about as good as that (except for the wallrun and the jump skip at the end) and I always get a B even if I don't die. Time is barely a factor in your overall score in Sa2, you need to have a crapton of rings or get the Gold Beetle to hang on to the A rank
@@crynosinso8324 points is the most important, rings are a factor in that but killing enemies specifically by chaining them and doing tricks and killing the beetle will be the most important
@@LaConnectionFrancaise yeah that too.
Clean run
Greatest sonic stage of all time. It kills me that boost is so monotonous of a mechanic and modern rails are completely stiff with no player input to balance and speed. Can’t imagine any of the dope stuff pulled off here in a boost game. Running up the side of the ark would have been completely automated
I just wanna know how you got the wall run. What the hell.
if you get a lot of speed on the vertical rail you can jump off of it and keep the angle and then quickly bounce and homing attack onto the wall. If you keep your speed high enough, the gravity stays skewed sideways
@@Nimputs I've been trying hundreds of times.
Does it only work on a specific version like say just the gamecube?
Maybe I'm missing the exact string of inputs?
@@LuckyStardustMS theres some collision differences between versions, on PC it should be the easiest but other versions may be morr likely to drop you off again, though I dont fully remember which version does what exactly, but getting onto the wall should be the same everywhere. The inputs are bounce and homing attack onto the bottom off the rail in quick succession, and then from the vertical part of the rail you jump, bounce, and then homing attack on the wall. So BA AB A (or X instead of B). You can check out this old tutorial by Darkpro as well: ua-cam.com/video/-gZ7fAT4w0E/v-deo.htmlsi=sv0cIvcJRVEeYsLg

0:56 wha… what?? You can do that???
Doesn't the wallrun count as skip? Since being able to wallrun wasn't intended and because you actually skip a a good portion of the level with it. Still nice run though, I wish I could do it like that. :]
I see. Thanks for the explanation!
Wall runs were intended
Lol ok, you do it.
@@sheercold26 what about the skip are the end where the player goes through the wall to land on the big hill leading to the end goal? Was that intended?
@@maxvenker9714 look at pyramid cave.

W H A T ! ?
I didn't even know it was possible 😂😂😂
Ooohhh my god!!!!!
Question, how were you able to pull off that wall-run? Or at least, do you know of any resources that explain how to do pull it off?
@@dumbpro555 bounce and then homing attack onto the bottom part of the rail. Then jump off the vertical part, bounce towards the wall and homing attack onto it. If your timing is right you keep enough speed to retain the skewed gravity from the vertical rail
@@Nimputs I'm sorry for the follow-up question, but how do you get around the ends of the wall? Is it just jumping and bounce acceling really quickly to get back on the wall?
@dumbpro555 yes. you can also do the jump as a jump-bounce which gives the second bounce when you go back onto the wall more speed. So the inputs are AB BA
@@Nimputs ok, thank you so much!
I use all the skips.. it shaves off like 20 seconds
They are hard to land with the rails tho
0:58 "Skipless"
Its skipless
Yes, its skipless.
Pero que v con el correr por la pared 0:
It didint work😕
How did you run up the wall
And that’s not even an A Rank. Also, this would’ve been cooler if you didn’t die.
Everyone's a critic
