We rewired our boat too (a 34ft). We decided to do so after we nearly had a fire, caused by two wires shorting. We now have quite the sense of satisfaction, knowing every wire is new, safe and properly installed.
Lady - you are an incredible inspiration and made of such ‘brilliant’ stuff ! Currently in Mallorca reading ‘Captain Solcum’ ....inspiring but the pair of you are convincing me that you have to be sooo talented yet mad to achieve what you are doing ! Huge hug!
It’s always fun to see what new adventures you’ve had from hiding cell phones inside yoga mats to upload video to sneaking inside an abandoned compound with goats. You certainly do have a unique way of seeing the world which is charming, fresh and fun. The path you’ve chosen to follow in life is a special one perfectly suited to you. I’ll offer fair winds before you set sail again and wish for calm waters in the anchorage for now. Hope the trek to the mountain top is epic!
Thanks for sharing! Be safe and please make sure the buss is covered and that your fan and pump are adequately fuzed. Automatic bilges can get stuck on or cycle frequenty with sloshing water so watch your battey SOC.
Hiding your telephone in a yoga mat?, Clever!, necessity is the mother of invention. Happily it wasn’t sold. We, your loyal viewers, admire your ingenuity and sense of adventure. The video and historical narrative of the volcano eruption was fun and informative. Have fun, anything can happen! Mekong Russell
Yes! That's exactly what I loved about Martinique, the jungly cloud covered mountains and little towns and lovely people! I have wonderful memories of the island and am so glad you're enjoying it too.
In the future for that anchor locker you could put a hard floor in it above the waterline. In this way you can have dry storage under it in the V birth and the locker can just drain itself through the hull with a drain (on port and starboard sides) with no pump or power needed. We did this on a friends 26 foot Bristol. It was a bit of glass work but it worked out very well.
Holly, you're so lovely! You tell the eruption story from a different POV than other cruisers who concentrate on the cathederal and its amazing story. Well done! Enjoying your videos, keep up the good stuff!
Inspiring. Impressive how resourceful and determined you are. Thanks for sharing looking forward to your next episode. And for having been to Martinique quite a bit, I share your impression on that magnificent Island. The FWI’s are truly amazing.
Very resourceful, fun video, just one suggestion, when you make electrical connections put shrink tubing on and you will create a more water resistant connection. The stuff is very cheap and easy to use. Will stop corrosion at the connection more. That's of course if the tubing is available. See you next week, better luck with the wifi search.
Hi, Holley not sure but in looking at the front v in your chainplate locker your water issues may be those front bolts leaking. Anytime you have a stain like that indicates water is leaking past. It's always easy to identify look at the direction of the stain. I had my shroud chainplates leak a ton into my bilge and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from removed some woodwork and saw big stains dripping down from the plates, was quite a lot to fix took me a day or so. Fair winds
Hey! I actually had that thought too. Nothing has been rebedded up there in a looong time. I'm eventually going to tear it apart again to install new hawse holes for the anchor chain and Ill probably attend to those bolts too. Thanks for the insight!
I've read a couple cycling touring books and there was the same sentiment about getting out of the 'tourist towns' that if a tourist city the relationship of the visitors and natives is about kind of a money/begging, but it was so much different in the non-touristic. speaking reading... your video swayed me into buying your parents book
Its good to see you having fun with your projects, In your anchor locker with wet chain and wiring, please wrap the butt splices with electrical tape or use shrink tube another good trick is to use dielectric grease on all the butt connectors and ring terminals and terminal blocks. corrosion is bad. Love your tan, Good use of a sheet in your cockpit!
Thanks for sharing so much about your island exploring, repairs and wifi woes!..... Gives me a glimpse into the real issues and blessings of cruising. Much blessings to you!!😊
God luv you, or whatever deity you subscribe to! Your vlog’s are very informative if not somewhat humbling for such an elderly person such as myself. You are very creative and knowledgeable, your parents were obviously very successful in their homeschooling of you and your siblings! They should be very proud!! Be careful and safe as you progress in your journeys. I look forward to your next installment! Much love and respect!
I admire your courage and tenacity.. Well done, great stuff..Why not put a small hole through the side of the hull and seal the bulkhead completely so the water cannot get into the boat. you can get a stainless fitting for the outside to create a ventury.
I just started watching , this ithe 4th video of yours , I wish you well with your adventure , love your spirit and it's fun watching you on your video because you are just being yourself which is great , the occasional swear word that pops out I can totally relate to , so thumbs up and I will stay tuned , be safe , have fun and thanks for posting.
Requesting please, share more specifics like, costs of renting a car, what you are eating... since it is interesting you have no refridgeration and perhaps the foods offered on the islands you buy for meals and what you prepare. Enjoying you journey. Thanks
Great work on the anchor locker project Ms. McGyver! You have more engineer in you than you know. We spent two weeks cruising last December around Martinique, notably St. Pierre, and your video brought back great memories. Looking forward to footage of your leg to Barbados.
Very much impressed with your wiring job looks good anchor chain locker will be much better now i think. Thanks for the tour of the volcano damaged areas very interesting see you next time and as always stay safe
Great vid again. How has the anchor locker wiring in the anchor held up? I’d have kept it all on the inside of the boat. And added drain holes. If the locker floor is really deep then a sump pump as well, but better to let it drain as much as possible before using power to empty it.. think you ended up sealing the internal door to it - definitely a bit of a design flaw! looking forward to updates as you go.. stay cool
Another great vid. Love your boat projects and hope you can upload the missing footage of the finished anchor locker, etc. Up top for getting the bed sheet up for shade, a necessity here in Australia. Fair winds.
YEs Yes yes , a dodger, extends the cockpit space into a covered living space.... I love it.... after I put solar cells aft of the dodger.... its a wonderful goal.....Carry on skipper

Kelly my girl, you are Kelly MacGyver. So impress me of how you fix the problem on your boat.. Did you get my fix for the bolts for the traveler ? The swimming noodle cut in half and glue to the overhead?
I just want to know have you ever ran into Captain Ron? Or have you ever found that Island with the restaurant made out of the cockpit of an airplane with the good chili fries and the Cuban music lol lol.🕺💃
Thanks for the video, Holly, always enjoyable. It looks like your supply side wire was a larger gauge than the jumper wires that you used for your bus. That has the potential to be a fire hazard because the smaller wires can't handle as much current as the larger ones can. If your fan and pump are running at the same time they could exceed the current carrying capacity of your jumper wires. Check out the gauge of your jumper wires and make sure that they can handle the loads that you have them connected to. Was your friend camera shy or is he a wanted felon in the great state of ME? ;)
These videos keep getting better. It's rare to find a sailing channel that shows what it's really like to go cruising.
Why would anyone thumbs down your vid! They must have very unhappy lives. You are a joy to watch! ❤️✌️🍻
You seem happier and more and more beautiful as your adventure progresses...Your smile is contagious

I think you make some great videos.

A lady with purpose who is practical and most persistent! Looking forward to seeing more of Martinique!
Thanks for sharing! Be safe and please make sure the buss is covered and that your fan and pump are adequately fuzed. Automatic bilges can get stuck on or cycle frequenty with sloshing water so watch your battey SOC.
Another cool video. Good job.
I love the way you tell some of your stories like we're all sitting around a campfire waiting for the jump-scare!

Awesome videos :) You are heading strait for 100k subs and beyond.

Another great vid. Love your boat projects and hope you can upload the missing footage of the finished anchor locker, etc. Up top for getting the bed sheet up for shade, a necessity here in Australia. Fair winds.
You can take a piece of plywood and glass it up high enough to put a drain hole out of the boat.
I'm new to you but so far a big fan! I'm incredibly encouraged by you!
Thanks for the explanation, was worried for a bit there. ( I’m a parent of a 20 year old , can you tell ...🥺)

@@sc-ez9fz you know about the noodles ?
Susan tell me about your experience with swim noodles.
So are you spending the whole hurricane season in the islands. ??
Your 1st Patreon, watching with my 7 year old. F BOMB. LOL. put up an "EARMUFF" warning next time!!!
Nice video. You are funny.
