When I was in elementary school, I played the Apple II version of School Bus Driver. I can't find any evidence online that it existed (no images, no videos, no articles, nothing!), but I swear I played it on one of the Apple IIe's that were in our Kindergarten classroom. Also, this was the first LGR video I ever saw, way back in 2011, because I was looking for evidence that the game itself existed. I was so happy to find this video, and I'm still grateful that you make these types of videos. Keep being awesome, Clint!
I'm suddenly getting ancient LGR videos showing up in my feed for some reason... It's been so great to revisit these. Thank you for everything you've done over the years right up to today! :)
@FoxMulder78 Just a beat I made really quick for the purposes of this video! Hehe, yeah, it's surprisingly tough to make a review of games you are really close to. I had planned on reviewing the Duke games all this month leading up to May 3rd, but now that DNF is delayed yet again so are my reviews.
Thank you so much for making this video. These were the first 3 video/computer games I ever played on the first computer my family got. This brought back tons of memories of my dad and me messing around with the computer, but me not yet realizing how ridiculous these games were since I was around preschool age when we got these.
You'd think during the school bus game they'd use the other CGA color palette to give you green grass, red barns, and most importantly, a yellow school bus... but I guess not?
I sometimes miss the style of your old videos. Your recent stuff is definitely better quality in every way but sometimes you just want to watch some old DOS game footage and some commentary.
@nonon19451 Hmm, it's not out of the question but I hadn't planned on it. It is in the works for sometime in the near future though - if not this month than relatively soon after!
I used to play the bus driver game at my grandparents and it was like the highlight of my year!!! I was always so excited to go there, especially since my parents didn't have a computer. Thanks for the review, so much nostalgia, i feel happy :)
Have you heard of Socrates? It's kind of a console. It was an educational game that plugged directly into your television. There was a keyboard, IIRC. They also released a drawing pad later that you could draw on and your drawing would appear on the TV. My parents got it for me as a kid because my mom's a teacher and she didn't want me having a Nintendo because it wasn't educational. Yeah, I wasn't too pleased with having Socrates as an alternative to Nintendo, but I still enjoyed it. You should look it up. I think you and I are the same age, so you were probably a kid too when it came out (I was born in '86, btw). I'd love to see a review of Socrates by you. It's a pretty cool little program.
I remember My Grand Piano and Firehouse Rescue, but I also owned 10 Pin Bowling (where you can move 1 pixel to either side and get strikes every single time). Those were the days.
I'm glad that somebody here in the comments confirmed that there was a Fisher Price bowling game too! it was, ahem, /driving/ me nuts not knowing if i fever dreamed it, which these games feel like most of the time.
@ducttapeninja13 Yeah, those are a bit after my time so I've never played or owned any of them. I had games like those shown in this video, CGA and EGA games like Treasure Hunt Math and Oregon Trail and stuff. Perhaps sometime, but not this month!
lol! Great great video, enjoyable as always! Those poor kids and those CGA graphics, at least they would learn how to have eye strain from those colors. 1911 mode during the grand piano part is incredible. Awesome video, can't wait to be edutained again!
I like the time travelling bus that both leaves and arrives with kids at 9am. Sick talent. And I am so glad you mentioned the lack of fire in the other. I noticed the houses were totally fine and kept thinking "Ah, now eventually you do plan to have fire on your, on your fireman game, right? Hello?" :p
I'm really looking forward to edutainment week after this video! I'm pretty sure that "The Incredible Machine"was too much fun to count as a real edutainment game, but I'm secretly hoping it might show up anyway :D
@Elk810 It's crazy how many people are leaving comments and sending me messages about having played these games! I had never heard of anyone ever playing them (besides me) before posting this video :D
My first memories of the Amiga were “First Letters and Words” and “First Shapes”, they utilized the Amiga's voice synthesizer…A jolly bear with the voice of a man that was just kicked in the nuts. I had been searching for them forever because I couldn't remember what they were called. Found it online, popped it into the Amiga and wow was it God awful and easy! But what a blast to the past! If your in for a laugh (its worth it just for the voices) check it out.
Holy crap, I remember the School Bus Driver game. I was literally describing it to someone a week ago but didn't know the name of the game. I remember playing it in Kindergarden. That's crazy to me. Thanks, Clint!
LGR, you are famous now and probably won't read this. But I BESEECH thee. There is an old game from the 90s that I remember vaguely. I only remember a few sparse details from it. I want to think the game had something to do with Piano. There was a bird, probably a penguin, who flew an old style plane, like turn of the century crop duster or something. You know, four wings, propeller. This game always perplexed me, mostly because when I was little I could never get any of these games running properly on the PC, and even when I could I couldn't PLAY them well because I was too dumb. But I remember after the first level or something, it seemed like everything went to hell. Everything was broken, on fire, something was wrong. I couldn't figure out if it was my computer or the game itself, but for DECADES this has bothered me. I've always wanted to find the disc and figure out what it was but I never could. I found almost all of my other PC games from that era, but not that one. Do you have ANY idea of what it may be?
I know this is a really unrelated and stupid comment but, the name of the song that play at the beginning of My Grand Piano (the circus music) is called Entry Of The Gladiators
@GGBeyondcom Truth. I know it's games like these that helped me learn! Well, Commander Keen and Duke Nukem were even bigger reasons to tell you the truth.
"I like to think he just farted" This made me laugh my ass off and start crying XD man do I love these reviews! I really like the Maxis ones (Childhood FTW!)
Clint, do you know of a game where you're a woodpecker, smashing away at a tree, until you uncover a letter hidden inside it? It also had a level where you played as a worm, eating an apple and also uncovering a letter. We had it in school back in the day, I often wondered what it was called.
You know what would be a great edutainment game to cover aside from Treasure Mountain and the like? The Tree House. Title might be a little longer, but stars opossums and I played it too death as a kid. Killer theme song
I know this has nothing to do with the video but, they are re-releasing the Commodore and it will have the original OS and if I remember correctly the company said it will have all the original games on it too. But you can use windows 7 and whatever OS you want. Just thought it was cool and I didnt know if you knew

Bro same
I don't know why, but that gangsta fireman bit made me laugh more than I should have .
I'd like to know what that song is. My guess is that it's some royalty-free trap / dubstep with a killer bassline.
Needs hydrolics for the firetruck tires.
Read this comment and skipped to that scene; that was well worth it Jheez
Yup, I was trying my best at playing it on the keyboard :)
Hey LGR, u still have My grand piano DOS for download? Because can't found it on web
I'm suddenly getting ancient LGR videos showing up in my feed for some reason... It's been so great to revisit these. Thank you for everything you've done over the years right up to today! :)
The music made the game really badass!
This was well written. First referencing the wheels on the bus song, then commenting on the animation. Very well done. Great seamless transition.
I like to get back to your old videos for intro song and retro vibe of those episodes.
This is one of the more hilarious reviews I've seen!
I give this review a young Clint out of wood grain!
School bus driver has one big, glaring flaw. (The kids are not constantly screaming or yelling for some stupid reason)
That's not a flaw...
X3
Oh man I found the chronological LGR Edutainment play list. It's a comfy night.
@FoxMulder78 Just a beat I made really quick for the purposes of this video!

I wouldn't trust a school bus driver with a lenny face
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Yea same
You'd think during the school bus game they'd use the other CGA color palette to give you green grass, red barns, and most importantly, a yellow school bus... but I guess not?
THIS FUCKING GAME. We had the bus one installed on the computers in my school. The memories.
I sometimes miss the style of your old videos. Your recent stuff is definitely better quality in every way but sometimes you just want to watch some old DOS game footage and some commentary.
WOW.
Young Clint is young!!!
Playing the school Bus game is probably one of my earliest memories! It was fun to see it again I'm so glad you shared it. :D
"No mature content", ah sweet understatement! :D
Anyway, enjoyed it immensely.
@nonon19451 Hmm, it's not out of the question but I hadn't planned on it. It is in the works for sometime in the near future though - if not this month than relatively soon after!

@CaptainRufus Yes indeed! The original "Dunjonquest: Temple of Apshai" for IBM PCs, complete in box.
Visiting these older episodes featuring Grouchy Clint as opposed to modern day Clint can be quite jarring
@Quimbyrbg The Incredible Machine will see its day on LGR! That game kicks so much arse. As for if it happens this month, that remains to be seen.
Did it happen this month?

So your mom wanted you to learn using the socratic method?
I remember My Grand Piano and Firehouse Rescue, but I also owned 10 Pin Bowling (where you can move 1 pixel to either side and get strikes every single time).
Those were the days.
"You ignored those black keys (sharps and flats) because you don't really need them"... you did not have a very good piano teacher!
LGR I really enjoy your content man! This video def made me chuckle among many of your others.
I'm glad that somebody here in the comments confirmed that there was a Fisher Price bowling game too! it was, ahem, /driving/ me nuts not knowing if i fever dreamed it, which these games feel like most of the time.
I really love the color palette of these games here.
Bus Driver is the first video game I have any memory of playing.
@ducttapeninja13 Yeah, those are a bit after my time so I've never played or owned any of them. I had games like those shown in this video, CGA and EGA games like Treasure Hunt Math and Oregon Trail and stuff. Perhaps sometime, but not this month!
holy fucking shit that fire house rescue game has been in the back of my mind forever and I couldn't remember what it was called
That was a blast from the past. I actually grew up with the School Bus Driver "game", haha..
LGR has become my go to channel for great videos. Love it...
@RJTamm93 Either that or puke yellows, greens and oranges. Suddenly, magenta and cyan ain't so bad!
I had the Fisher Price Little People toys, I would always take them and burn them alive in my grandmother's microwave. I was an evil little dude.
xD. Are you sure you weren't Hitler's son?
Yes. ;p
xD
xD
My mom decapitated her barbies with her G.I. Joes
lol! Great great video, enjoyable as always! Those poor kids and those CGA graphics, at least they would learn how to have eye strain from those colors. 1911 mode during the grand piano part is incredible. Awesome video, can't wait to be edutained again!
@NIMHFS Prepare yourself to forgot there are games other than edutainment titles!
This was the first game I every truly loved as a child. I laughed so hard that I cried watching this. Thank you so much
@whiteboyjimmy20 Phreakindee is proud to be a part of this complete breakfast.
dude. i used to play the shit outta firehouse rescue when i was at day prison- i mean- kindergarten
Hello?" :p
Lol the tree blocking the road on school bus driver is one of my earliest memories as a kid
i really enjoy your videos, your one of the few ppl that know what cga graphics are
The School Bus driver was exciting!!! I was playing on computer class when i was with 5 or 6 years!!!
I'm really looking forward to edutainment week after this video!
I'm pretty sure that "The Incredible Machine"was too much fun to count as a real edutainment game, but I'm secretly hoping it might show up anyway :D
@tudythegangster Happy 32nd of March!
Man, this is one of my favourite episodes!! This is the fifth time I've watched it and it always makes me laugh.
5:30 "Gangsta fireman off to save Harry Potter and his menacing face roomate".
@Elk810 It's crazy how many people are leaving comments and sending me messages about having played these games! I had never heard of anyone ever playing them (besides me) before posting this video :D

Totally forgot to take this off of UA-cam 1911 mode, it made the intro pretty amazing.
where did you get your w95 shirt?
Ebay!
Lazy Game Reviews Oh how didnt I guess?
Lazy Game Reviews Can somebody get this man a sponsorship from EBay?
5:20 And thats it. You just keep going around, going to houses, looking gangster, driving up and doing your gangster fireman stuff.
Holy crap, I remember the School Bus Driver game. I was literally describing it to someone a week ago but didn't know the name of the game. I remember playing it in Kindergarden. That's crazy to me.
Thanks, Clint!
OH MY GOD. I REMEBER THESE. These were the very first games I every played!
LGR, you are famous now and probably won't read this. But I BESEECH thee. There is an old game from the 90s that I remember vaguely. I only remember a few sparse details from it. Sadly that doesn't ring any bells for me. You might want to ask on the VOGONS forums!
If you are still looking, try r/tipofmyjoystick community on Reddit.
Another awesome video by LGR!
That gangster fireman bit was amazing.
The Firehouse Rescue segment was hilarious! :)
Just something I made for the video.
I think the best thing these games taught kids was how to navigate DOS directories and run the programs.
I actually used to play the School Bus Driver game at my elementary school when I earned free time. Good times.
That fireman track was fire.
That school bus game actually looks really fun -- I can see myself getting addicted to that...
I had one Little People Schoolbus toy when I was a little kid... Nostalgia so hard...
Ahahah this guy is great and funny as hell. Brings back so many memories.
@linuxlove4004 Go for it, dude. It's sold by an eBayer named "samalynn-ink".
I don't have a beard now either though.
I had the School Bus game! That was a lot of fun and I played it all the time.
I laughed so hard at the gangsta firefighter part... harder than it would be dignified to admit.
Logic Journey of the Zumbini's was a favorite of mine. Love Edutainment Games.
I suppose you don't need the black keys, as long as everything you play is in C Major.
Hahaha! Look at Phreak's comfortable gaming chair!!
I bet he's wearing slippers, too.
The circus music is "Entry of the Gladiators" by Julius Fucik. :)
You should do a review of awesome educational dos games such as Oregon trail, Yukon trail, and amazon trail
Those dancing letters WERE enthralling in 1988.
"I like to think he just farted" This made me laugh my ass off and start crying XD man do I love these reviews! I really like the Maxis ones (Childhood FTW!)
The intro in 1911 mode is pretty awesome
You can also generate PC speaker music with the PLAY command on QBasic.
I had many of the Fisher Price/Davidson games like the pirate ship, wild west town, and castle
Clint, do you know of a game where you're a woodpecker, smashing away at a tree, until you uncover a letter hidden inside it? It also had a level where you played as a worm, eating an apple and also uncovering a letter. We had it in school back in the day, I often wondered what it was called.
I'm highly surprised John Cage didn't write a piece using Fisher Price Grand Piano.
For 1988 this still has very nice colours
House is on fire. Better take the long way.
That intro was awesome! I laughed.
that shirt is so a e s t h e t i c
You know what would be a great edutainment game to cover aside from Treasure Mountain and the like? The Tree House. Title might be a little longer, but stars opossums and I played it too death as a kid. Killer theme song
Here I am nearly 11 years later, watching Fisher Price game video lol.
I know this has nothing to do with the video but, they are re-releasing the Commodore and it will have the original OS and if I remember correctly the company said it will have all the original games on it too. But you can use windows 7 and whatever OS you want. Just thought it was cool and I didnt know if you knew
On the piano game, Do could be a dog, the La looked kinda like a lamb, the the Mi is clearly a cat for "Meow"
Are you going to be doing games like Reader Rabbit and Operation Neptune? Those are the games I remember growing up on.
"...jellies along to the bus" really made me laugh :c)
The other thing is their house is of fire and they're smiling ear to ear, as well as the houses not being on fire.
Classic LGR comedy gold, "Thank you for teaching me how the world works."
Education material here!!!!
I think kids should learn DOSBox with this!
I love lgr's humor
