Thank you, sir! I feel like that's pretty vital and can provide insight into what audition committees are actually looking for (spoilers: it's WAY different than what all state committees are looking for). Thanks for watching!

Great video! Interesting how often the Galliard sonatas are included. Love those pieces!

Same here on the Galliard works. I would have thought that the Galliard sonatas and the David were passe at this point. I'd be interested to find out the age of some of these trombone teachers and see the older vs. younger recommendations. Thanks for watching!

I have a rochut book as my lessons instructor recommended I get one as he thinks it will fit my skill level but still challenge me.
He was right, it’s challenging and just outside my comfort zone like number 21 is the one I’m on currently and it’s been challenging but also a lot of fun to go into my lesson every week and have new things told to me that i need to work on and also that i did well or have improved on since the last time
I’m currently finishing up senior year of high school and really want to play in college but the solo i want to play (rimsky korsakov trombone concerto 1) is not rhythmically or technical in difficulty so that’s off my list
the goldman solo is what i am currently looking into doing!

The Rochut book is SO good! While we move between solos through the years, all trombone players continue to play the Rochut etudes. They are eternally good.
There is a lot of fun to be had in the Galliard sonatas, especially if you're looking for rhythmic passages that move around the horn. Good luck!

Awesome video! One correction though, the name of the woman playing the Galliard is Sarah Goldberg not Goldman.

Ugh. Just when you think you've got the details all sorted... Thank you for pointing that out! I'll add an addendum to the comments now!
