    I give information about guides, gear, safety, highlights, the route and much more. I liked this hike a lot and hiked it myself in March of 2023. This was my second time in Nepal and first time in the scenic Khumbu Region.

    Xander...What can I say. One of the very best informative videos on the Khumbu region & very well edited. It answers so many of the important questions which nearly everyone overlooks. In relation to yr trekking route app what watch were u wearing to navigate..??? I am planning to do my trek from mid Nov till mid Dec so hopefully shouldn't encounter heavy snowfall or difficulty in seeing the trails...

      In november / december you should be fine snowwise! I used the Garmin Forerunner 245 and it worked excellent. Just had to charge it daily. Thanks for the very kind words!

    Thank you for these value informations! I am already excited to try the three passes trek in April. Especially the advice on shoe selection will help me to decide, thanks! I have one question though, I've tried to book a flight from Kathmandu to Luka but Yeti isn't offering any anymore is there a different airport close by where you can fly to Luka? Thanks you!

      Thanks for the kind words! Most of the time they only sell the tickets quite last minute. So i dont think you need to worry about it yet!

    Very good, I like your way of hiking. Why waterproof trail runners? - I hike in my Topo Terraventure in snow, if necessary with crampons, ford creeks, and as long as it is warm and sunny during the day they will dry fast, and I never freeze. On a cold day I would add waterproof socks. - Will see how it will work in the Khumbu region, being there for one month this october/november.

      Nice man! Thanks! I was very happy with my gore tex trailrunners because we were hiking in - 17 degrees during the mornings and it stayed cold a lot of the times. My friend wore normal trailrunners and had cold feet a lot of the time. But march is quite different in comparison to october! Your weather will most likely be softer :) enjoy!!

      @@WanderwithXander Thank you for your answer! - I see the difference to my tent based hikes that you can dry the GTX shoes in the early evening in the tea houses, if necessary, which wouldn't be be possible without an oven. But I do not expect much rain, and only short snow covered stretches at the passes, so think I'll be happy with the more airy shoes without membrane. And having plenty of time for the hike (just retired) I can just outwait a rainy day if necessary.

      @Henning_Rech yeah I think the fall is way better suited to do without gore tex. You will be fine! Hope you have a great hike. Really would recommend to combine it with Chitwan! :)

    Xander, I can't thank you enough for this amazing trip report and your recommendations for a safe trip. I loved the map visuals and the ideas for alternative routes. You answered most question I have about the 3 passes trek. I think I want to start from Jiri. Would you happen to know if I can buy the permits I will need there?

    • @WanderwithXander
      @WanderwithXander  Рік тому +1

      Thats amazing! Thanks for your comment. I think you will just be able to buy them in Lukla and don't need them earlier! :)

    Xander, Thanks for the great video. I will be hiking the Three Passes the end of this month. I would like to take your suggestion and explore the Chitwan NP at the end of my hike. Through Instagram, I tried to contact the Chitwan guide you mentioned; however, I never received a response. Do you know if he is still providing guided tours of Chitwan? If so, could you provide me with his contact information? thank you
