Instead of flying into Lukla, I hiked from Lamasungu, (near Jiri) to Kala Patter. Its about 100 miles. The year was 1981 and there were no Tea Houses; my trekking partner, Sherpa and I stayed with families who lived along the trail. It was winter so the only food available was Dal Bhat (Lentils and Rice). We only ran into 2 or 3 other hikers the whole time. My partner and Sherpa left me when we got to Tengpoche, so I had to finish the trek to Kala Patter alone. I hiked back to Lukla and flew back to Kathmandu. I can't believe the "luxuries" available on the trek these days.
@@travelwithfawn I didn't really have much interaction with the families we stayed with. We often arrived after dark (unannounced) and fire was the only source of light (and heat). After dinner, the fire soon went out and everyone went to sleep. The homes were made from stacked stone and were very cold seeing how it was winter. The following mornings, we were up early and after breakfast, we hit the trail.
Congratulations on your achievement. You were quick. 2 days faster. Incredible. 🎉 👏. I have few questions. 1) how heavy was your backpack 🎒? (2) did you carry sleeping bag. If yes, which brand? (3) were you carrying water bottle or seeping water bag ? How did you manage water in gorakshep and higher altitude? 4) which month was your trek? Thank you in advance. 🙏
You are so brave to go through the Khombu glacier alone. I understand its one of the most difficult and dangerous parts. Usually its mapped by Sherpas before tourist arrived. Wow. Im impressed. Good job !
Thank you for sharing your journey with us and for capturing the culture and scenic spots of the Himalayas. Truly one of those amazing and mesmerizing views I have seen so far!
Your view of the Milky Way must have been absolutely breathtaking. I am afraid of heights and afraid to fly,so I live vicariously through adventures like yours. Thank you.
This is the first video to EBC I watched in its entirety. Extremely well made, beautiful landscape, chill, calming pace. Congratulations and thanks. Now I have to put it on my bucket list though it seems unachievable. What kind of shape do you have to be in to have a nice hike and not almost dye of exhaustion? I’m not a hiker but I run for a hobby, half marathon being my longest run. Is that enough?
As being nepali high schooler, middle of preparation of my high school board exam, watching this breathtaking sceneries and majestic nature of our own country, i came to learn that from your vlogs, taking rough paths with determined heart can lead to the destination you have longed for.😊
Fawn, you are an incredible filmmaker, I really enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for visiting my beautiful motherland country Nepal🇳🇵take care. (I am a Nepali living in Norway).
15 years ago Gorak Shep was a lot smaller. I climbed KP in the morning dark walking on snow that had fallen the night before. After sunrise the snow melted making the descent treacherous.
Very enjoyable vlog. I liked the pacing of your presentation, you showed a lot of different things and did not dwell on any one scene. Your pleasant voice and the nice music added to the enjoyment of your vlog.
I often find myself watching hiking videos in Nepal when I'm feeling a bit homesick. This was one of the best videos: beautiful narration, amazing video quality, informative, good humor, and overall great production!
Aloha Thanks for making a video that is not just a bunch of selfies ...this is informative and fun to watch!! maybe you will inspire a new gen of Vlogger!
Fawn this is the best video of this hike I have ever found! Thank you! I absolutely love the music, photos, and serenity of this. Can not wait to try and follow your itinerary! Beautiful. Thank you!
Beautiful video 👌good job, love your music choice, my favorite part was definitely dingboche to loboche, I wish our year of 2023 was little bit more sunnier, looks like you did this trek during 2022 which was such a good year
Hello, much enjoyed your video, having visited EBC on 29.05.2003.50th anniversary of 1st ascent. However just to say that at 25.10 the conical peak is Nuptse.Lhotse is just in view at 26.20 above the South Col. Thanks again;please send more !!
Hi, thanks for the vlog, just starting out myself, I am heading to Nepal in September for a month and can't wait, but doing Langtang Trek not EBC, maybe in the future, but I have a ton of interesting places to see. I have a guide as well for Langtang, look forward to supporting local people. Trying to learn Nepali as well, enjoyed the video again 🇮🇪🇳🇵
Great video and very nicely done. I did the EBC 23 years ago with three other friends independently. It was very fun but also very hard. I did take acclimatization days in Namche and Pheriche. Lobuche was our high camp and one day to EBC and the next day to KP.
@@travelwithfawn Yes! There has been a lot more building at all of the villages in the Khumbu. There was internet in Namche but extremely expensive. Just went without. Less helicopter traffic too. I've also done the ABC trek and Annapurna Circuit as well as the Lantang trek. I was living and working in Asia for about 15 years in the late 80's to early 00's so it was a short hop over to Nepal.
Some of the best Photography of tracks I’ve seen so far, sharing the food was great too! You did a good job gently Narrating 💞💞🙋♀️thank you for taking us along with you!!!
Such I am honestly appreciated what you're doing along with your activities. Far from simply creating content, it seems that you are doing this from the heart. It seems so natural and totally local cultural with adventure vlog. You are the one of the few UA-camrs. Thank you so much for exploring information about Nepalese real & natural beauty...............
Respect to the powerful porters 🫡

Wow, that must be a great experience to stay with a family. It is a bit more commercialized these days but still an amazing experience!

As a Nepali, Do you think caste system matters in Hindu Caste system in Nepal?
@@srzsrz2049 first of all caste system is derived from Spanish and Portuguese 'casta' and was given to us by britisher's not by Hindus.
