I'm glad you went in depth with these since I don't currently own anything I use commonly that has MOLLE on it, I own a CamelBak that hasn't been washed yet but that's about it. I like that they're supporting the Multicam Tropic because it fits somewhere between Coyote tan & ranger green, as well as being the end goal; to retire to a nice tropical island someday where I can live without a care with some friends hopefully.
Been in the tactical "arena" (hate that word combo) since 2008. I usually make my own kydex pouches. I've not seen Kywi before. Thank you for the info.
One thing I've found that can help getting velcro stuff in and out of pouches is a plastic ruler or something similar. Helps keep the 2 pieces from re-sticking to themselves while you remove one or get it to the position you want it.
Take the kydex insert out before threading the molle, makes it easier to thread. Handle part of butter knife helps thread molle and won’t damage anything. Joe

Nice in depth review. Would the 1.75" belt clips slip around on a 1.5" belt? I could see using some ranger bands on the clips to provide extra friction but otherwise was wondering if it would be a less than tight fit or not. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words! I think the 1.75" belt doodads will work fine for you; I personally use a 1.5" belt about 1/3 of the time, and though there is a gap at the bottom, they're still nice and snug if the belt is fairly thick. I hope that helps! I love nylon gear, and I'm happy to answer any questions. If I don't know the answer, I'll refer you to someone who does.
Solid Advice, just curious if ya went with that Mid-Length Daeodon for AK? Still not seeing it available from Esstac, but I guess the reg 7.62 mid’s May work?? Any thoughts
*Sees daeodon horse head in door camera* Hello there one of my sleep paralysis demons Maybe I should look into these pouches for my MP5 or PTR91, both guns are slow enough to reload already. My only tactical gear is a 90s ALICE pistol belt with a Bianchi M12 holster(fits almost every pistol I own), two M16 3-Mag pouches, an IFAC pouch on the back section of the belt and a canteen pouch. All this is held up with the suspenders.....I really need to get out of the 90s, I use an M16A2 clone as my primary go-too rifle and a PASGAT helmet is my only armor for godsakes.
The 90s was a great time for tactical gear! But, you will definitely get some speed on your HK reloads from a Kywi. Adding a few of those will let you at least take the pouch out of the equation, as you're not fighting with a flap or whatever else might get in the way. You'll only have to overcome the incredibly inconvenient mechanism. And I say that as a diehard roller gun fan.
@@tomcucu94 The video would be very, very short. They're just Kywis that AK mags fit into -- otherwise, everything in this video applies. I only show them briefly for that reason. For a long time, Esstac recommended that folks use the standard Kywis with AK mags, but the ones they produce now are AK-specific, and just a hair wider. That's the only difference, a slight change of dimension. If you've seen a 5.56 Kywi, you've seen an AK Kywi.
really appreciate the breakdown! Can I ask: 1) Are you using the Tall 556 or the Tall 7.62 pouches for your AK mags? 2) Would you recommend the Tall or Short pouches for a belt setup (again, with AK mags)
I'm using the dedicated AK mag pouches. Though virtually identical to the 5.56 pouches, the kydex is fitted differently, and it makes the Kywi easier to use with the thicker mags, and the rear tab. That's a good question about pouch height, and I'm afraid I struggle to give a good answer. Pouch height is largely dictated by use and personal preference. At present on my belt, I'm using the medium-height AK pouches, and talls on my chest rig, but I'm moving to mediums there as well. Though I've never had a mag leave a Kywi when I didn't mean for it to, in theory, on your belt, an errant bush or tree could grab the mag out of a medium or a short. I'm personally willing to take the risk for the enhanced ease of use. Sorry, I know this answer isn't particularly helpful! But, I can't in good conscience recommend any one particular option as the right answer. What works for me might not work for you at all.
I find your videos to be super helpful with info other folks aren’t providing. Some of this gear is hard to find right now so I would like your opinion if you have time please. I recently got a T-Rex AC1 so I can have a low pro setup to go along with my mayflower/hsp APC. Would you recommend the Esstac Daedon or the spiritus mico fight to use with the ac1 if you could only buy one or the other? I realize the micro fight is hard to get and each person is different, but curious what your thoughts are on this. TIA
Thanks for the kind words! I can't speak for the T Rex carrier -- I detest Lucas Botkin, and won't be giving him any money, even to purchase that carrier for testing. I've not been impressed with T Rex products either. They're medium, and we live in an era of exceptional gear. But, I can give you my thoughts on your options for small carriers in general. It all depends on what you're carrying, and where, on your person. I view those two options as filling a different role. They aren't interchangeable. For instance, the Daeodon just carries mags; it's the slickest option. You have to carry you medical and whatever else you need in another location. The Spiritus is bulkier, but it carrier far more stuff. I hope that helps, and if there's anything else I can do, let me know!
i just got some for my microfight and there super tight to the point where its hard to pull and re-index the mag any recommendations to loosen them up a bit
