      Procrastination is worse than being lazy. When you're lazy, you do move, but slowly. When you're procrastinating, you don't move, you keep postponing and you only start moving once it's too late.

      It's not that he "felt" it. Actually he didn't feel it, that's the reason he missed the riffle stacking with one card. He should have held back 4 cards but held back 5. When he missed the deal with one card, there's only one explanation for it. Riffle stacking is very basic, and tbh not that hard.

    • @JohnnyNatrium
      @JohnnyNatrium 5 років тому +11

      @@malikh7761 Well cause it's one thing to be an amazingly talented card magician, but the guy, like many magicians, clearly wants to be seen as more. He gets a black belt, he now wants mafia-story style cred to be taken more seriously.
      He does what old men do. He tells tall tales. Actually it also reminds me a bit of those guys that get out of prison and actually get interviews where they talk about how they constantly karate-chopped groups of 10 people all on their own, while they were just "minding their business".
      None of these exciting stories have ever been corroborated nor would you find anything about it on his wiki or bio or anything.
      It's no surprise of course, since you couldn't find a casino where they blackjack with just one deck. And you'll notice he can 'only' do his tricks with one deck.
      A very talented man in his field, but his stories to me are just a distraction like I have to humour him by listening to them. On the other hand the stories seem to be what makes at least 90% of his fans be so passionate about him as to watch interviews. So maybe that's why he tells them.

    I had the chance to spend two and a half hours at 1m from this gentleman while he was passing through Paris. A French magician who runs a small website had written to tell him of his admiration and Richard Turner had replied very kindly, promising to come and see him the next time he was in Paris. A few months later, he kept his promise to a young stranger and he organized an impromptu conference for a privileged few, including myself. I was passing by the magic shop by chance and I was told that he was upstairs and that I could attend his conference and I didn't take half a second to accept. We were ten or twelve and he showed us his incomparable virtuosity, of course, but also his kindness and his availability for everyone. Of course he knows his value in the magical world, but he is also keen to pass on part of his work (he didn't tell us everything, I know that, and I find that normal...) with a lot of warmth and humility. He is a living legend of our art, but he is also a very nice person and a great gentleman....

But when he said he was legally blind since a very young age, I about hit the floor. No way! From start to finish this was an interview that held your attention, interest and wanting to know more. Thanks so much for this download, this was a gem.

    The Dai Vernon story where he’s teaching Richard about cards is so fascinating and it kind of makes sense. People’s limits are often made lesser by their own belief that certain skills and techniques are impossible before they’ve even tried it. As a result, they never do try and even if they do, they never make an honest effort because they’re going into it expecting to fail.
    With Richard, he naturally circumvented both of those obstacles. He was listening to the description fully believing that it was possible and his inherent obsession with the craft led him to continually practice with that belief until he got it down.

He says it in this interview.
