One of the highest complements Penn has ever given. Paraphrased: "We know how this type of magic works. We've seen it before. We've DONE it before. We could follow what you were doing, but then we lost track because we were having too much fun watching!"
The thing is, from now on when people reference the best matrix act, they will link this performance until another magician outdoes the monologue and level of public presentation Ryan achieved
"We just gave up. The last things you did we have no idea how you did them because we were enjoying them too much." That in itself says it all. The act they did with a pencil; was it the slight of hand/smoking trick?
@Lord Frog um there's 3 versions of the smoking trick the one where teller sticks the lit cig in the ear which was done in the 90s and I think they showed it recently as well, then you have the one where both penn and teller palms the cig with the pencil and they are sitting on chairs also done in the 90s and then lastly they did it where teller hids the lit cig in the lamp post he's leaning against which was Done in the 80s So they have been doing that trick on tv for about 30 years
I don't know why they gave up the same move was being repeated throughout the video. Seriously if you can't see him picking up coins at the bottom ofd the board theres something wrong.
You can tell how much this means to Ryan. When people say they grew up inspired by magic and P/T as a kid, this guy is the nostalgic embodiment of it. Amazing magic, and even better storytelling and performance.
I completely agree with Penn and Teller. You follow and follow, watching all the moves, but you just cant keep up in one viewing. He didn't fool them out of something they'd never seen before, he fooled them out of skill and persistence
@@cdtaylor7732 Is the idea that if someone knows what you are trying to do, they can see it and ruin the "magic", but in cases like this, they are so good that even knowing what they are doing doesn't dispell it?
I've been watching and performing magic since I was 8, and I'm now 53. Ryan is one of the most entertaining magicians I have ever seen. A wise, Yoda like, master of the art, once told me that it's the man (or woman) and not the magic. Ryan is proof of this. What a contagious, infectious, good feeling. Kudos Ryan!
I met Hayashi many years ago, when he gave a lecture in Belgium (at Mephisto magic shop). He's one of the nicest guys on the planet, a great magician, and this trophy was WELL deserved. I still perform your tricks, Hayashi!
Similarly to Penn and Teller, I was following this for a while, and those palms are so insanely clean and well controlled, I don't think I've ever seen better ones. Everything from the immense timing on the wrist kills, to the flawless placement is just fantastic. But again, like Penn and Teller, I just stopped caring after a while and just enjoyed the show. It's actually really simple , but nonetheless impressive. He's using magnets, you can see the coin jiggle back to its position in the beginning as he accidentally moves it slightly and it snaps back to its position. And the cloth surface has holes/ pockets the coins travel under.
@@theblackbaron4119 do you make burnt pizza

@@theblackbaron4119 the cloth looks too neat to have holes in them.. but you might be right as I don't really know how he did the first one where you can see the coins move with pure slight of hand. But he also definitely takes coins from under the table, and also picks up cards along with coins, and moves them seamlessly through his fingers. Same with the big coins he takes out of the deck of cards, and from under the table. I suppose a combo of magnetism and pure, incredible slight of hand, is possible.

The act they did with a pencil; was it the slight of hand/smoking trick?
@Lord Frog um there's 3 versions of the smoking trick the one where teller sticks the lit cig in the ear which was done in the 90s and I think they showed it recently as well, then you have the one where both penn and teller palms the cig with the pencil and they are sitting on chairs also done in the 90s and then lastly they did it where teller hids the lit cig in the lamp post he's leaning against which was Done in the 80s
