I've never visited his church but as an over the road trucker I have listened to his messages daily. He has been a solid part of my spiritual life for almost 25 years.

Big time respect and brotherly love for Pastor Evans. He IS an authentic man of God, a biblical expositor and a great pastor. He admitted his shortcoming and stepped down which I admire as well. Prayers for him and his lovely wife, his fam and the congregation. Jehovah is a God of restoration for all.
Respectfully, he only confessed that he has sinned, as we all have/do; however, he has not confessed the sin. I’ve always thought that when a person confesses his/her sin, they say what that sin is. Praying for Pastor Evans and church family, indeed.

Maybe he confessed and repented of the sin back then,but still is tempted from time to time and he doesn't feel free of it. It may not be a continual sin, but Scripture teaches us that a bishop, or pastor must be blameless and as he is older, he may have realized he will give an account for all things before too long and he wants to deal with the issue now, before he doesn't have that chance.... We don't know what the issue is, but he must obey his conscience before God. Man's opinion matters not.

@@Its.nice2b_niceThere are different interpretation of “after repentance”. One who has repented of their unbelief and has turned to believing on Christ and His shed blood for salvation, is justified. Being baptized into Christ, we have complete forgiveness and have passed from death to life.

Everyone in this thread has sinned. There is no big sin or little sin. Just the simple judgement your human mind took you to when you heard the news was sin for some. When you got angry with your co worker or the person in morning traffic you sinned. But how many stepped away and took steps to heal and recover. Mainly none. Most just kept right along with their lives. Dr Evans, you are human and the fear of God is so evident in your life. I support your decision and my prayers are with you and your family and especially the congregation. Satan is busy. Don’t let any of his meaningful sermons be forgotten. Stay focused people. It’s confusing if he sinned years ago why is he stepping down now. Shouldn’t he have done this years ago? What is the delay? Is there a blackmail coming up that is forcing him to confess and to step down ?this doesn’t make sense…why today?

Anytime a pastor steps down for a sin of the past and they don't expound on it. you know its not good. Its one thin to wait one month (that's a long time still) but to wait years and years and years, been preaching all these years and now the conviction has now hit your heart? I'm not buying it at the moment. you can see people commending him for this act. However, I believe this is something far worse than meets the eye. The Bible says judgement will start first in the House of the Lord and you're gonna start to see many of these prominent pastors being exposed for being frauds or having dirty laundry. We only see these men Once or twice a week in the pulpits. there's a lot of sin you can fit in 5 days. what's hidden will come to the light.

Whatever he has done, or thought, between him and God, he doesn't have to confess it to the world. But no matter what she did it's no worse than some of you with your judgmental attitude. You too should repent and ask for God forgiveness. It takes a man with great integrity with such a high reputation as Dr Tony Evans has to boldly admit he committed some sort of sin and he is taking time for his spirit to be restored. We don't go to church to worship the pastor, we go to church to worship the God, the only one true God, who is blameless and sinless. Imagine where any of us would be if it were not for the forgiveness of God.

It is our duty as believers to lift up Dr Tony Evans, not because he is on TV and radio, not because he is famous, but because we should be lifting up all of the Pastors unto God. There jobs are not easy, they have pressures on them that you could not even fathom in your abilities. I can respect this. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. ALL of us. But pastors and church leaders are held to a high standard, to be in their positions. The Bible makes this very clear and it warns those who don't fear the wrath of God and obey the very clearly outlined instructions for the church in these situations. It sounds like Pastor Evans does fear the Lord and is getting himself right according to the Word before he continues leading a congregation. I'd far rather see this than the utterly outrageous behavior of so-called pastors like JP Miller.
The fact that The Lord led this man to seek HIS forgiveness is testament to The Power of The Holy Spirit! Lord I pray that YOU bless brother Tony for his faithfulness and restore him, in The Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, Amen 🙏🏼❤️‼️
I’m not quite sure I understand the “seek His forgiveness” part, when Believers are justified and have died to the law of sin and death (sin is not put to the Believer’s account). Is not Christ’s shed blood ALONE the propitiation for sin?

He said a couple of years ago sometimes it takes time and the right circumstances for God to bring you to the position of repentance. And as they went, they were cleansed. Not many people in church leadership have the courage to take responsibility when they've "fallen" (so to speak). When I heard this I was shocked as well but I thank God for Pastor Evans doing what he would preach/teach to others, whatever the cost he is still one of and will always be one of my favorite teachers and preachers. Reading the comments and it appears no one is spiritually mature enough to see the problems with his stepping down. Imagine you committed a sin 10 years ago, and now you are telling me that as a believer for most of your life, you didn't seek God's forgiveness? I do not believe that! Listen, the act of stepping down and all that foolishness is nothing but man-made religious ceremonial practices and ideology. The bible teaches that if we sin and we ask for forgiveness, God is just and faithful to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So, who is buying that he didn't ask for forgiveness years ago? I'm not buying that. I'm glad Yah pulled me away from traditional church all that foolishness. Another thing, folks need to stop thinking their pastor is holier than they are. The bible tried to explain this to us by using the analogy of the body and the smallest member of the body being of the greatest significance.

Pray church! Pastor Evans nobody can speak up for me. First I wanna thank you for who you are in the body of Christ. And I know who you are because the kind of courage that they took (Pastor Benny and others) says volumes about your character. If evangelicals have not learned anything out of this lesson, this should be applied to the fact that nobody is above the law, nobody is above above THE WORD. As a baby pastor and comparison to you, this will be one of the greatest life lessons that I have ever witnessed as a testament to who truly are and what you’ve written. I THANK YOU!
And I’m going to put here a warning to anyone reading this that decided that they wanted to take a piece of this man. WOE to anybody who tries to put their foot on the neck of a repentant person. I want to remind you. It’s in your Bible that if you do, it’ll be better for you to put a stone around your neck, your neck and be cast into the 🌊 sea. I don’t know, that sounds like something you would not want to encounter. But here is what I will say to you that the Holy Spirit said he’s not concerned about the people that they’re deciding to take apart, a broken heart and a contrite spirit.

My father had a similar situation. My father was an amazing father to me, my dad brought me to Christ and i know and am known by Christ because of my father. My dad never knew his father, was a Vietnam vet and left home as a teen. He was/ is in recovery by Gods grace by the time I was born.
Pops would catch the city bus rain or shine bringing his children to church (in between cars). In the rain, he’d cover the stroller with plastic (others would tell us this story as well as well my dad). I remember my dad praying for his family and others in shut ins in with our pastor and other members, whole weekends after working all week. 3 days from Friday night until Sunday morning complete fast. My dad was a hard worker (now retired) and never required anything from us only to help around the house and do well in school. He was my biggest fan in everything: academics, sports, nursing school graduate, etc. At night, when I would have nightmares, I went to my dad and he prayed for me and I would rest. My earliest recollection of the power prayer was my dad’s prayers. He was there always.
He was there for me and even through he is estranged because spiritual warfare is real, I bless him. Praying God’s help and mercies for men/ leaders everywhere.

If he was so much on the up and up, he would have done all this "stepping away" when it happened all those years ago. I see an exposure coming.
Pastors aren't perfect, but are accountable
In other words, in order for Tony to continue on any further, there are some things he needs to clear up spiritually. So that way, as God calls Tony Evans to an even higher place, Tony will be able to come through in an area of Gods work as clear as possible so that it will not be a possibility for Tony to preach a false gospel or unclean message due to whatever his sin has caused. Whatever battle God is calling Tony towards after this process, he is going to need Tony to show up as clean and clear as he can be. In order for that to happen, he needs to be corrected. The purpose of being corrected because the Devil will use any means necessary (even a disciples ‘unrighteous judgement’) to stop the Gospel or Gods purpose from being carried out in the Faith. Selah.
I know this process all too well. It’s not always a fast or easy process. It does take some time and patience. Rest and Restore well Pastor, we’ll be here when you get back & we’ll be praying in the meantime.
Who knows a man’s heart, but God. Pray for our spiritual leaders.

Prayers out of schools etc. those who effectively preach the gospel and save souls must be tempted and unknowingly pulled into a life of sin if they want to stay afloat. Only wish they had the courage like Jesus , when Satan took him on the mountain , showed him the wealth of the world, wanting Jesus to worship him in exchange of gaining the world. Jesus resisted, however men of the flesh are weak. Pastor Evans sinned years ago , but is now speaking out ; someone wants to expose him. He is a good and humble man of God, may the spirit of God enfold and forgive him.
God said no more .
Heavenly FATHER, in the name of my Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST, by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT, I pray that you would restore Dr. Evans, even as you had restored Peter. Be the lifter up of his head above his enemies (Psalm 3:3) and let no weapon that is formed against him prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Restore unto him the joy of your salvation; and uphold him with your free spirit (Psalm 51:12). You are a gracious and merciful GOD! Go after your son! Put your robe of righteousness on him and the ring of authority in his finger, as did the father of the prodigal son (Luke 15). The gates of hell will NOT prevail against him, in Jesus' name. Amen.

My Prayer is with Pastor Tony Evans , family, church family, let us all pray for God servant not Pastor only for Tony Evans alone every servants of God , we all have sin and secrets sins will reveal so let us pray because we all have something to take to God in prayer and fasting and repentance is a must , so don’t judge are pint fingers let us pray,
