This video misses an important aspect of Intel phone, which is the fact that their phones were x86 and were not binary compatible with ARM apps at the time. I was an Android developer around that time and remember this quite well. Android apps built for ARM didn't work out of the box for Intel phones at the time. Developers had to submit a second binary built for x86. If your app used only Java, then this wasn't a bit deal. You just need to add x86 as a build target. However if your app used Android NDK (or C libraries) then there were some work to do in order to make sure it runs on Intel phones. Upon launch, a lot of developers just didn't bother and Intel phones could only run a small subset of the apps in Play Store. This improved over time, but I recall every review for Intel based phones at the time mentioned that you could only run some of the apps, which definitely hurt them.
Interestingly Intel made a huge contribution to Android development. In order to run Android on x86, they made a x86 build of Android, which is kept open source (because Android). This build of Android was quickly ported to run on VM (initially Genymotion, then official Android emulator). It gave us a fast and reliable Android emulation on developer's PCs. Before this time, the only Android emulator target used ARM emulation on x86 PC, which was God awful. Literally every click was a slide show. It was a far cry from iOS Simulator. Intel's x86 emulator finally gave us a usable emulator for development, which meant I didn't have to carry a handful of dev devices around when I wanted to work from home or on a business trip, nor did we need to assign at least a couple of dev devices to every developer. Dramatically improving productivity all around. It also opened up the whole Android VM scene, where you can run Android apps on your desktop using something like Bluestacks.

There's an issue with using an x86 processor instead of an arm one that x86 uses way more power than arm. An Intel or an AMD phone would require way more power, and therefore have a much worse battery life. And also the cooling would need some work too, unless they want to use thermal throttling as their cooling solution lol

Motorola had a phone using Intel as well, it was the Razr i (XT890).
I had one and it wasn't too bad, specially the browser performance for the time.
But a lot of apps (specially the ones using NDK) didn't work, the price x performance wasn't awesome either.

The issue is Google lock up Android with a variety of exclusive contracts. This is one of the problems Intel had. They wanted a variety of Chinese guys making different products with different software options Google wanted the same few with all the Google apps. It means the OS is not normal open source.
