If you've made it this far in the description, remember to be safe when creature adventuring! Most wild animals can cause injury if harassed, and I do not recommend attempting to capture any creatures without purpose and practice. The reason that I interact with wildlife is to produce these educational videos, and I have years of zoology experience under my belt. Also, I always ask permission from a land owner before exploring on their property, and you should do the same.
Keep adventuring everywhere, and keep your adventures safe at all times!

I would love to see a fully melanistic Eastern Hognose! Great video!
Thank you!
Always a good day when you find a Hognose. Two weeks ago I had an identical situation where I saw black scales in tall grass and thought it was a Racer. As I got closer I was wondering why it didn’t dart off. It was a Melanistic Hog. It let me pick up and it never played dead. My 4th Hog in the wild, but 1st this season. The video of that encounter is on my channel if you were interested in seeing it. Great video as always Ben!
I went to check out your hog but had to stop and see the corn snake you posted this week. That was a stunning corn. I'll have to do some binge watching to catch up on your channel and see what you've been finding.
@@tkreitler Thanks so much. I get out in the field quite a bit and have been lucky to find some really cool stuff. That Corn Snake was only the 2nd recorded in my county and I found it on my property in my tin site. So weird how that happened. I appreciate you checking it out.
Woah, that's awesome! I wonder if the melanistic hogs are more likely to chill out for some reason? I'll go check out your channel!
I'm a homeschooling mom that leads a local co-op. I am so glad to have found your channel. We watched your video on newts this past Monday. We're headed to the Mid-Atlantic Reptile Expo in Greenville Saturday. I was looking for some information on reptiles and came back to your channel. Thank you so much for what you do.
So glad you have been able to use my content, thanks for the kind words!
@@TheWildReportOfficial You are so welcome.
Awesome Ben! Thank you! Whenever I see you diving into grass.. I know it about to get interesting and educational.🙂 Have a great one buddy. 👍👍🐍👌
Haha I guess that is an early warning sign of upcoming education content for me
Wow! What a cool, cool snake...and a real camera hog...ok, that's my last joke at the expense of that snake who put on such a good show for us. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Haha glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching!
A Beautiful Hognose good find. Love the video. Happy 4th Ben, keep your videos coming my friend ❤👍.
Thanks Walter, appreciate the support!
When I saw it was a black snake, I hoped it was Big Bertha! This Hognose is awesome.
Haha I haven't seen her in a minute, but I also haven't gone searching for her. Maybe I'll add that to my herping checklist!
@@TheWildReportOfficial She's a sweetheart!
@@TheWildReportOfficialyes! It's time for a Big Bertha annual update.
Dig those black ones, bet you were surprised. Interesting hypotheses on why they play dead. Such amazing snakes, what a show for FREE!
I know, right?! What other snake is like 'ah you found me, let me perform for you live now'
It's a Shiny! love to see it buddy! beautiful hognose. Hope you're doing well and be safe! awesome video!
Yeah for real! Thanks a bunch, glad you enjoyed.
Those little fangs! So cute!
Oh man, I’ve always wanted to see one of these fellers out in the wild. Great vid!
Good luck out there, they sometimes appear out of nowhere like this one. Thank you!
That was a cool find. I know you're no longer in NC but Hognose snakes are one of the most fascinating snakes we have here. Thanks for the video and I look forward to the next one.
I was so hyped! And don't worry, I'll be back in NC soon enough haha
I had a black hog nose in my yard last year. It hung around for a few weeks. I was confused because it sounded like a rattler with no rattle. Kept lifting it's head as it slithered around my house. I'm so happy to learn more about it. Thank you! :)
That's so cool! Glad you enjoyed.
@@TheWildReportOfficial Today I found a Zombie cicada. It's body was gone, just the top part still there. Still moving and responding. Crazy! I got some pretty good video. Would you be interested in the video for your channel?
Awesome, thanks.😊
Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching!
You are awesome and enjoy how you are connected to Nature. Go Wolfpack’s 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

Great video man, amazing find too!
Thanks dude!
Another banger video Ben!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the video
I didn't know there was a snake
who knows how to behave like a cobra
Yeah I think it's so cool that they are such different snakes that have the same defensive behaviors!
Wonderful video! What a find - and so much fun to watch how excited you were to see this beautiful, unique guy up close - and cooperating so well. Keep the videos coming - always learn so much and enjoy watching!
Your footage is GORGEOUS!! really brings out the intricate details of these species 😁
Wow! I have yet to see a wild hognose. This one is huge!
Yeah it was nuts! I haven't heard much about them in Florida but they are definitely there.
Good one Ben keep it up. I really enjoy and learn from your experiences
I appreciate that!
Nice one buddy!
Thank you!
What a pretty black snake!
Sooo the snake eats psychedelic toads.....that results in them tripping during defense mode 😅
That explains why it turned into a mega cobra!!!
Haha basically, I personally choose to believe that theory
Amazing FIND!
Thank you!
Amazing find!
It was absolutely crazy, still in disbelief!
Awesome find!!!
Thanks!
Awesome video on UA-cam
I need the behavior of this snake when my boss walks up on me at work
Plz let me know how this goes for you
I've seen 2 of these in my yard in the last week and now my wife won't go in the yard.. Black just like these, one played dead and the other puffed its head up like a cobra.. Central / Eastern Minnesota, looked exactly like the one in the video, just bigger..
Where were you when hognose flipped on his back and died
I was on sofa when Ben call
“Hognose is kil”
“Nu”
He literally pass away in my hands, such overwhelming sadness
Your the best remember me from tybee it’s Case
Oh hey Case! Glad you're enjoying my content.
How many times have you been bit?
Enough
Can a hognose snake eat a cane toad?
Ooh, great question! I'm gonna say yes if it could fit it in its mouth, no for the big toads.
Must have shiny charm…
Nope, full odds!
Wanna find a hog nose so so bad no luck yet😫
You can do this! They sometimes appear randomly like this one.
