It just amazes me that the giant fish like this still exists but the best part to me is seeing it swim away back to it's home. Awesome job guys!
HTTR!!!
They get to 20 feet if they live long enough
Nice to seeing catch release on a linker like this even if you keep it all fish outside Alaska and northern parts of Canada all fission have consumption regulations but it is great to know there are still places like this where lunkers still can be supported nice fish lol
Yeah only the big ones spawn. So the big ones you release and the little ones you keep
@@brianrizzi6321 if you take all the small ones then there won't be no big ones. Remember the small ones must grow bigger and there were once 20 to 30 footers if you look up sturgeon in the 1800's and before they started been fish out to almost extinct. Small must grow big to have giants.
Appreciate how this guy doesn't need to make a half hour long documentary to release content. No bull crap filler. Just pure action the entire time. Usually a yputuber catches a big fish they need to make a 3 part serious of sponsorship and adds to show it.
I mean they are running a business on marketing and content so . . Idk what else you want
@Cody Galloway lol. Not a 3 hour documentary on a big fish. You must not watch alot of fishing youtubers.
Second that!!!
@@marijuonko7092 you can just not watch it if it’s 3 hours running time and not complain.
@@MrLSDownliner thar would be like you minding your business. Probably not going to happen.
Thank y’all so much for the awesome respect y’all gave that amazing fish. You will all be blessed!!!
Our pleasure! Thank you for watching!
@TyPigPatrol how could a real fisherman not enjoy these amazing videos. They're epic brother 😊😎😎😎
Great catch. It’s been years since I fished the Columbia river for these prehistoric beauties. Releasing that 100 year old fish must have been a rewarding experience.
That fish will be over 150 years old!
who the fuck is mateo?
This old man really enjoyed your video.
I’ve lived and fished in the northwest my entire life. I’ve been fortunate to haul in some big sturgeon myself from both the Columbia and the snake. Fish like this girl are very rare and treasured. In 5 decades of fishing this bests my biggest of a 9’8 from the snake in 1993. Congratulations on what could be the sturgeon of a lifetime.
How old do you reckon that fish is mate, from your experience?
You may have cought that very same fish at some point ?
About 75 years old
@@rocketrockstar8171 I would say roughly between 80-100 years just based off his aging patterns on him.
It’s great to get this kind of experience commenting on this fish event. I have never fished the northwest, and figure there might be a few others like myself who appreciate the valued info that catches or teaches of fishing in the Northwest. Mine was primarily southwest Gulf of Mexico and covered the full scope of recreational boating. Power and Sail. When those experienced in the marine world post or comment, it’s usually pretty obvious which ones reveal they are definitely worth listening to.
How exciting for you guys. Beautiful fish and so glad she got released back into the water safely. This is one giant experience you will never forget. Lucky you!
A cruel brutal entertainment .
Like Nature needs this BS.
Get a life!
The fact you guys release that was just the biggest set of balls and awesomeness I've seen in a long time!!! Thank you for you for leaving some wonders of nature still there for future generations! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!
It is not legal to take sturgeon of that size.
The vast majority of fishermen release their catches.
I've caught thousands of fish in my life and can count the amount that i have harvested for food on my two hands.. I don't do it for food much, i do it for the sport and to get out in nature to see these beautiful creatures up close. I also use barbless hooks these days to reduce the risk of serious injury.. Almost everyone i know does not keep them and does their damnedest to get them back into the wild alive and well.
And in Idaho you aren't allowed to even take them out of the water
@@jamesburke8681 Here in BC it is strict too, they must be treated gently over exertion kills them. Big carp,
So beautiful and healthy! I miss fishing. BRAVO to everyone! Thanks for taking us along!
That was awesome to see him come back by and wave his tail in thanks for releasing him. Great job,and sportsmanship guys.
The fish was waiving and thanking the fisherman for releasing it? Funny stuff man.
He's used to being caught, taking pics & being released. State law, you can only keep them between 4' & 6'

To think that I live just a few miles from the river where that beautiful animal lives… Thank you for showing (and setting free) amazing wildlife like that fish!
If you're ever in Canada I can show you an even bigger monster
I'm happy to see that you let him go. That big fish had to have been alive for quite a while to get that gigantic. He didn't seem to be that freaked out by you three holding him and petting him either.
I did a trip with Charles in October of 2022. We got a fish 9.5 feet long and a girth of 57 inches. Best guide ever! Incredible video and fish Ty.
And where was this adventure ?

I love how, in the end she was so calm with you guys and was just like, ok, you won.. Good game, guys! Let you take your pictures with her, and then once the celebration was over, she just gently swam away before circling back around for a wave goodbye!
Congratulations. That is truly a once in a lifetime experience. Man the rush you must of felt.

😂 I was holding my breath at some parts, leaning left, then right at others, and struggling all just while watching!!! Thanks for the adventure guys! Congrats on the entire experience...especially the honorable character it takes for nature, to know when to keep and when to release❣️
I thought it was clickbait, but per usual you never cease to amaze us! What a fish of a lifetime!
Beautiful to watch you men bring in this sturgeon then a few pictures then release. Sturgeon’s are a protected fish. So nice to see their still around. They live a long time. That one you caught and released was a beauty👍
Thank you very much!!!
It's just an amazing thing to see such a fish, awesome job and what an absolutely legendary sturgeon 🎉
Best part is she lives to swim away, she even came back around to say thanks guys for letting me go. ❤
I've been following your channel for a couple of years. I've never seen you catch anything like this before. Congrats, TY!!!

That was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLY UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Fished a pond off the Loup a thousand times when I was growing up. Best fishing of my life. Always enjoy the vids with you and your dad. Thanks man
Impressive Ty, definitely in your top five of all time. Watched you catch a lot of fish but this one was earned.
I usually prefer the darker colours of clear water fish, but the turbidity of the river really brings out the beautiful pattern of skutes and skin markings on Pacific whites.
I'm too old and knackered for this kind of fishing, so living it vicariously through you is a real treat.
You may be able to top that with a freshwater stingray from the Mekong, btw. Hint, hint...
We had a huge sturgeon like this back in Indian River Michigan, supposedly a couple hundred years old - or so they said! I never saw it myself but it made for great fish stories! Great video!
These videos are incredible,! You sir are a skilled fisherman! Thanks for sharing!💯
Thanks for taking me on this adventure, ty for being so respectful to one of God's lovely creatures ❤️
Really love watching your videos. Thank you for your UA-cam style. Don’t change
Absolutely amazing! Such a beautiful fish. I caught a 4 foot one in the Sacramento Delta. Love watching you catch these beast!
Amazing catch! Congrats! I really liked the swim by after the release! Best thing I’ve seen in a while! That fish enjoyed your attention!
Love seeing these videos shot up here in my neck of the woods. I know exactly where you were. I’ll leave the fresh water whales to you. My arthritic hand can’t handle that. I’ll stick to rainbows and pan fish. Thanks for all you do Ty. Great stuff.
Beautiful. And the release at the end when the fish came back before leaving, beautiful.
And great rock skip!
Amazing work, and the way you guys treat it with such respect is a great example to all anglers 👍 cracking vid ❤
Thanks Guys for Being Respectful Appreciative and giving Him The Fish Honor . And letting Go He swims on in Our Hearts Now . Amen
He's certainly a rare animal...but a lot of these fish that they let go sometimes would have been devoured by yours truly
@@franklacy9813 In Oregon, you can only keep medium sized fish. Can't remember specifically, but maybe 3'-6'ft.
@@dennissamford1029 oh...thanks..do you know there a fishing channel called catch and cook...I grew up fishing and it's my favorite dish well seafood stuff in general I like shrimp too....anyway...I guess the catch and release fishermen gives you a chance to catch the lunker they let go...thanks again ....I think the reason is big fish lay more eggs ..so they're keeping a healthy population of fish going
@@franklacy9813 That is the theory. Brood stock. But, in addition mercury and other heavy solids build up over time in a fish of advanced age. Not healthy to eat anyway.
@@dennissamford1029 one time I looked up where all the mercury is coming from and it's supposed to be coming from burning coal...did you know you're not supposed to eat over a pouch of tuna fish a week or else you're overdoing your safe mercury levels....also most heavy metals wind u in the silt and clams are supposed to be the worse
That run at 7 minutes reminded me of the original Jaws when they were pouring water on the reel to keep it cool 😂Incredible fish!
Thank you so much, it was amazing to watch the run, again and again. Agree with the other comments, watching you care over that fish till she was ready to go and seeing him swim off. Thank you for letting her remain alive.

Happy you released it. Fish has stories to tell, he was around when disco was hot, and he just cruzing Seem calm As still strong swimming away
I remember seeing pictures of my grandfather with huge sturgeon out of the Niagara River and out of the lakes around Niagara Falls NY. The population is finally coming back
I am glad to see they still exist in the wild. If anyone catches one of these please release it.
Sturgeon that size must be released.
Anybody who keeps these things is a monumental POS. Is there legal obligation to release though, or do people just do it because it's the right thing to do? I don't know anything about freshwater fish laws.
They are protected
. Mandatory release.
you don't want to get caught trying to keep one of those they're breeders and have to be released
So much clickbait on YT, I was certain this was going to be joke. Glad to see you guys captured all that on film. Once in a lifetime !

Way to go guys! That was a hell of a battle and a beautiful release. That's the beauty of fishing. To think there used to be Sturgeon twice that weight!
I saw an old photo of a sturgeon so big they were pulling it up on shore with a team of horses. Had to be 1000 lbs minimum.
@@wymple09 I saw a similar photo my grandfather had. It may have been the same one. Was it on a horse drawn wagon?

Man, talk about a once-in-a-lifetime experience, on video too! This is the sort of memory that will still spawn fond re-tellings decades down the road handfuls of generations later. Groans of disbelief and annoyed at hearing it for the 1000th time as a family pass around food at their Thanksgiving gathering. Get a few drinks in Grandpa, almost on cue: " i ever tellyall bout the time w Grampappy caught a dinosaur out on the Columbia back in '18??"
Perfect video man, the energy of the whole experience was warm, the excitement palpable, & succinctly edited all-round. You sir have earned a subscription!
Great video, Ty. What a monster. Another fish of a lifetime. Well done.
This is freaking epic! Appreciate this one for sure as a sturgeon fisherman myself!
Bro. Thank you so much for saying what kind of fish it was. Lol. I mean seriously. All these comments and not one mention. I’m sure it’s mentioned in the video somewhere but I wanted to know what it was before investing in the video
Unbelievable. This video grabbed my attention from start to finish. Great job!!!
That's one perfect specimen right there! One beautiful Sturgeon!!
Such a Magnificent Fish, it took you guys, and itself to the limits of endurance, it was epic!
What a freaking TANK good job guys. Excellent team work.
Such a gorgeous and beautiful creature.
Great video! Thank you guys for being gentle with that beautiful beast.
Dude, that thing was nuts. Any idea how old anybody might think this fish is? It’s crazy to me that a freshwater fish like that is even possible. Thank God you had a team there in order to reel that thing in. Because I don’t think any one person could’ve ever done that. Congrats.
Right? Now that's a fish story that they don't have to lie about! I never saw anything like that in fresh water. I would like to know how old it is too.
It could be very well 90-100 years old…
@@theshittybowman Based on some studies, this fish could at least be 36 yrs old according to its size meaning a fish could reach this size in that time. Once they reach sexual maturity, growth slows exponentially. So yea, this fish could be 50, 70, 90, or 100 yrs old. I would guess between 40-50.
Wonder how many are in that river that size. That thing must rule those waters. Anybody know if this is a one-off, or are there more?
Well maybe the Rock? But even that muscular monster of of man would have had trouble outlasting that beautiful Sturgeon. Thank God they’re now heavily protected from overfishing. I hear they aren’t very good eating anyway & normally the larger the fish or animal, the tougher their flesh is to eat. Or so I’m told. I’m strictly a meat hunter/fisher, not a trophy hunter /fisher. Shooting an animal is never fair or sporting as they’ve no chance against a 30.06 or whatever rifle. And they didn’t sign the waver to be hunted for sport. Sorry for getting off track folk. Just saying I guess. Love the vid though ya’ll did well, treated & carefully released that Sturgeon respectfully, calming her & letting her relax & regain strength before releasing her. She even did a lap back to say thx & that’s awesome & comforting to ya’ll knowing she’s good to go. Congrats fellas, ya’ll rock👍
Bro that is a monster wow what a beast!!!!! Dang man congratulations to you both GOD BLESS
Always catching the monsters! Keep up the great work!
What an amazing catch! so happy you guys were able to-do this, and respectfully capture the quarry then document it and let it go about its life. it looks so shark like with a trunk like that.
Thank you guys for sharing a life time memory with us
Oh my god! That is a beast!!! How long it took you to pull it out of the water?👍👍👍 If I could put 100 likes, I would! Congrats!!!

Beautiful fish. I love sturgeon and have caught many over the years, some of the same size in this video and some bigger. But I hate to see anglers swapping the rod and taking turns fighting fish. To me it defeats the object of fishing 🎣 and it should always be between the same angler from first cast to eventually landing the fish.
That's just my personal opinion of course and means no disrespect to Ty and the other anglers who made it a combined effort.
@GLOBETROTTER We don't have these types of fishes where I live, but I remember catching a carp, nearly 15kg (33pounds) and that was a struggle. It took me nearly 2 hours to pull it out, my hands were shaking afterward, so strong it was, but this MONSTER...I don't think I have so much strength, but would love the challenge...
@@fishmadpro7210 I have caught many thousands of big carp worldwide to over 70lb, but the fight only lasts minutes with the right gear. Even with some sturgeon over 700lb and sharks over 1,000lb I've subdued in 15-minutes. But some do and can last over an hour, depending on fitness & experience of the angler, power of the fish, river currents and tackle.
Congratulations on the 15kg carp by the way. Carp have been my favourite fish since a boy.
