I did my military service at an Army Airfield. I often fell asleep in the late evening when the crews were hovering their choppers around behind the barracks. When the last chopper shut down its engine around 11 pm I woke up because I was missing the sound that made me sleep so pleasantly.
I've fallen asleep on every single flight. Luckily I'm national guard so no critical missions or anything. The pilots even took a picture of me and felt flattered cause I slept through both landings (we stopped to refuel) After I get enough of the landscape zooming by I just pass the fuck out. I could stay awake if there was something important but God damn it was relaxing. Especially in the middle of a busy day, just getting to sit down for an hour or so is great.
@@hxpx6906 I was never in the military but my fiance's family lived right next to fort rucker for a while and hearing the sounds of those blackhawk's and apache's fly over at night put me right to sleep. Even when you could hear the door gunners doing training exercise's it was so peaceful.
It's a little disconcerting at night, when you wake up and for a few moments, you don't remember where you are or what you're doing! :) You can sleep anywhere, any time... if you're tired enough- and being infantry will make sure of that! B Co 3/327, 1988.
I loved flying on the blackhawks. Best time of my life. Granted they made us close the cabin doors because we always had loose equipment floating around.
Never been on a Blackhawk but I really want to ride one. Been in two helicopters and it was great. Unlike every movie, game, song, story, or really any form of entertainment the helicopter is not always shot down. (EDIT: I forgot to put "on" between been & a)
Black Hawks are cool indeed. And whether it is shot down depends whether is it a hostile zone and whether the pilots fly low enough to give enemy the chance to shoot it down with rpg.
Used to fly over those trees. Was a 67T/15T. Plenty of O rides and rappels at the Air Assault School. Back in the OIF days we were assigned to our aircraft. When I had to rappel out for Air Assault school it was my company supporting the school. So I actually rappelled out of my own hawk back in 2000. Did everything with that aircraft. Couple years later went to Iraq with the old girl. Last I knew she was in Alaska. Thanks for the vid! Great memories! Aco 5/101st Balls! Eagle Assault! Air Assault!
Thank you for your service Sir!! I myself was a enlisted aircrew man mission specialist 22 years Thousands of hours actually flying the Helicopter with the co- pilot in the back. My dreams came true. wouldn't trade those expierences for any amount of money!!
That's awesome my dad was in the 101st screaming eagles he tell me all the time , you could here the branches scraping the belly , and just now scene this video , deff gives me a new perspective!! I'd be nervous 😂
Blue route? I love this video. I have just over 2800 hours as a 67T/15T crew chief on the 60's. Retired now, so it's been a minute since I was flying. Spent 10 years at Campbell.
Looks like the familiarization ride at AASLT school, spent two years at Campbell and loved it. Great unit, pretty area of the country and got to ride to work in Blackhawks and Chinooks. I'm an aviation buff too and when i was at air assualt school watched the crew chiefs and how much they got to fly and thought "why the hell didnt i pick a different MOS?"
I forgot what it was like to ride in these birds. Then once they lifted off it all came back. Thanks for sharing this occasion. B Co, 1/187inf (1989-91)

Glorious, I hope to become a pilot in the adf one day, I assume we will keep using the uh-60's for a good number of years before we phase them out and I hope to fly one before we do this.
Black Hawks won't be phased out so fast. It's a good helicopter, that's why the Army is keeping them and has plan for them in the long future. They are too good to be phased out. Even in operation neptune spear, the stealth helicopters used are modified version of the Black Hawks. Don't worry u will get a chance to fly the Black Hawks.
That looks like a lot of fun. He was down even with the treetops at several points. Was this some kind of familiarization flight? Why didn't you/they carry any equipment? I assume you took this video? Thanks!
Yes this was a familiarization flight for those new guys who haven't been in a helicopter before. And yes I took this video with a GoPro mounted to my helmet.
Honestly i'd probably fall asleep to the sound of the Rotors and the noise. It's relaxing
It’s definitely not relaxing while inside the helicopter

I loved packing you folks in, we only close the doors in training, lol..
It's good to fly without doors and feel the air
Honestly for us it depends on the weather
Signed to be a 15T in August of 2024. I love watching videos like these. Can’t wait to work on these birds
get your flight physical done while you're in AIT. you will thank me later

Nice ride ! Thanks for the video !! Helicopter pilot must be one of the best jobs in the military (in my opinion).
Helis are easy to ahot down
@@Brus7xy. not if you're a good pilot
Definitely is

I know it's windy but I wonder is it hot? Black Hawks can fly so fast and are definitely cool.
Awesome video of troops riding the ole UH-60 Blackhawk bus at & below treetop level to the zone.
NOE too (Nap of the Earth) basically a very low level flight to evade enemy or concealing flight position.
Glorious, I hope to become a pilot in the adf one day, I assume we will keep using the uh-60's for a good number of years before we phase them out and I hope to fly one before we do this.

Theres one thing you got to know when flying in a helicopter... No matter how cold you are up there NEVER switch off the fans....

This would be so cool, I’d love to ride in there!
The scenic views are like a train, but better 😍😍😍
Great video, thanks for posting !
I have a question, what did you film this with and how were you authorized to film?

What's a familiarisation flight? Is it used to make soldiers familiar with riding in a helicopter and the procedures?
Such a cool ride
