116th Combat Support Hospital Mash Unit, I was a Gunner/ Litter Bearer, That Sound is a Sound that SAVED many a Life, I Really don’t have any more words to Describe how I FEEL in My Heart & Soul when I was in 1 and how that sounds just a GREAT TODAY. Seats & Belts ? Never had them in ours. A little bit lower for the “Nap” of the Earth. GET SOME.
Rode in one of these over Gainesville Georgia a few years ago. Pilot took us around just like this but added a couple of low-G drops (rapid descents) along the way with 9 people on board. When the collective was pulled the classic Huey chop-chop was loud as hell. Very thrilling ride even if slightly risky. Pilot served in Vietnam as Huey pilot so he knew what he was doing. The power on hand is amazing.
I rode with GA based Sky Soldiers as well, but in Northern Indiana for Rotors and Ribs. Our machine was the "Comanchero" with some dude and a rope on the nose. Pulled same moves. I wouldn't say there is power on hand. Maybe for the time, but this thing is what 1,400hp at the shaft? AH-1 Cobra seats only two and is 1,800hp at the shaft.
In Germany (West) we call this Huey "Teppich-Klopfer" (carpet-drummer). I flew with him by Search-and-Rescue (SAR) missions. Oh what a unchangable sound🌈⚠️
When I was going through Military Police school, we got to ride in a Huey (mock combat assault). The pilots were older, probably getting ready to retire. We lifted off to an altitude of about 50 feet, flying up a snaking riverbed. We were really moving!. The pilot pulled up on the collective, and we popped up to about 100-200 feet, then he lowered it and we descended, flaring just above the ground. Most exhilarating ride of my life!!! The Army certainly got its money out of the Huey program for sure. So glad some are still flying. Thanks to all who restore, maintain them and fly them. I have no doubt younger kids probably went to into Army Aviation when they got older.
Was the Military Police school at Fort McClellan Alabama. I too was there and rode in a Bell Huey 1979. They had the doors closed because of winter. They vibrate hard upon landing.
Love the Hula Doll on the Instrument Panel. All the Vietnam Vets I have known stop what they are doing when a two-bladed Huey gets within earshot. Takes them back, good or bad. Nice Video!
This video is something amazing. I enjoyed every minute. The sound of ROTOR completely calms you down and you can fall asleep to it, its sound is so good.🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁 ❤❤ You can enjoy the scenery and watch the Pilots drive the plane wonderfully. ❤❤ Please make many more Helicopter Travel videos like this.
I was a 67 November as well. Yes that sound is something that you never forget. Loved working and flying on them. It gets in your blood. Aviation is just cool!!
Wonder what the Master Caution light was about at takeoff shot? 3:35 minute. I was a 67N 1982-88 and 92-94. Love the sound, feel the beat, and the smell. What a ride. Most of our pilots from 82-86 were straight out of Vietnam and could give you a ride of the lifetime. Doing door gunner training and qualifications was a once and awesome experience.
One of the UH1N pilots I worked alongside said "we don't fly, we beat the air into submission". During bitter cold snaps the rotor noise makes it seem like it 😂
I gotta say the camera (or standalone mic) you are using is recording stellar audio given how much average mics hate wind let alone insanely loud noises. Bravo thank you for sharing this!
Why was it OK to continue to fly with a MASTER CAUSION light on? U.S. Army Crewchief on UH-1H/C/M for 13+ years would like to know. US Army Retired. Always loved the view on take-off and Approach for landings. Thanks for sharing!
Been playing this all summer long while driving and making deliveries acting like I’m transporting in a Huey hog never gets old haha sometimes it helps me get through the job, It makes it more fun!!
It was a great video. The sourest part was when that guy was waving underhanded at the group departing the helicopter. Like they didn't know to get to where the perimeter was. C'mon guy don't treat people like that, nobody likes to be treated like livestock.
It may sound like a silly question but some of us need to know what indication would a pilot take from the dancing Hawaiian doll on the dashboard? What is actually measured and observed on it?

I was a Huey mechanic and door gunner sometimes and the whop whop sounds bring back memories.

Same same @ Ft. McClellan in '75. Many more rides in Huey's in Germany. 95Bravo!!! LOVE those birds. I wish I could go 1 last time.
Doors open, low level flying right above the tree tops or the ground as a crew chief. What a ride! 6 years I'll never forget!
Love the Huey! This was our helicopter back in the day after Vietnam when I served. The sound never gets old.
I WAS A CREW CREW CHIEF ON THE GUNSHIP MODEL IN LATE 1970'S. GREAT HELLICOPTER!❤
Did you know my late grandfather William Paul McDermott he was also a door gunner and crew chief back then
Memories of Vietnam never go away. Flew with the 57th AHC, 69-70 Kontum.
I love huey, this sound of the blades is simply divine, he is like a Hurley - Davidson in the world of helicopters, cool video
Thank you
I love ridding open door the vibrations, the smell, and the beat of the blades.
Pure heaven.
Thank You for serving to all the vets commenting!
I was fortunate enough to hitch a ride in a Huey. Sat with a 203 in my hands and toes on the edge and look straight down. What a memory.
Mannnnn, Nothing compares to that Iconic Sound!! I mean Nothing!💯❤🎼🎶🎵👨🏻✈️👨🏾✈️👩🏼✈️

One of the sweetest sounds ever to an avgeek, which is sadly declining, but beautiful to those that have graced her presence!!

Takes me back to the period of time I was with the New Zealand Army, we blasted about in these a number of times. The rotor sound gives me chills.
Can't think of anything that sounds as good as the huey

In Nam war, a little over 12k were made & used. Over 5k were shit down. Almost half.
LOVE these birds.
I was a Huey mechanic in the Army (67N) 87-92
Good times

Sweet sound.
I was a Huey mech (crewchief) in the Marines, 1983-87
To all Huey pilots, thanks for your courage, help, support and all the fun rides. C 1/7 1st Cav.
One of the UH1N pilots I worked alongside said "we don't fly, we beat the air into submission". During bitter cold snaps the rotor noise makes it seem like it 😂
I was there that day and rode the huey! Bit nippy with the doors open but what a great experience!
Huey is my best helicopter since childhood till now I wish I could sit in one
A Workhorse Chopper LIKE NO OTHER...💯💯💯💯💯💯💜💜💜💜💜🙏🥰🤗
I gotta say the camera (or standalone mic) you are using is recording stellar audio given how much average mics hate wind let alone insanely loud noises. Bravo thank you for sharing this!
Thank you!
Nothing on earth sounds like a UH1 "Huey."
You don't know a HUEY until you ride in one.
Got to fly on a Huey twice, at the Monroe air show in NC. Worth every penny🚁
So envious, beatiful machine.. thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome, thanks for watching!
12:58 Great sound. I could feel the rotor downwash hitting my head!
Gracias por compartir sin palabras a decir una exprecia majistral
They must be trying to scare the riders by not resetting that master caution light haha
One of the most beautiful tunes
great filming, great microphone
Thank you
Awesome. I also love the Rams Horn visors on the guys SPH helmet at the beginning.
Spent the 80’s flying around in them. Crash landed once, still here to remember it. USAF ABGD

IT is Master Caution because of door open Light.
@@flyingrobi LMAO... Will a seatbelt light be next?
Love the dancing hula chick.
Rode and worked on bunches of them as an engine specialist! Got to do a little door gunning and limb patrol as well!
That's an AIRCRAFT! John P.

The only thing missing is fortunate son playing on the intercom. On a continuous loop so it doesn’t quit.
I could see myself piloting this all day long lol
Omg I d love to get a ride in one of those bad ass helicopters.
It was a great video. The sourest part was when that guy was waving underhanded at the group departing the helicopter. Like they didn't know to get to where the perimeter was. C'mon guy don't treat people like that, nobody likes to be treated like livestock.
Fortunate Son
Beautiful
grandiosa maquina la mejor del mundo😍🔥🔥😍🙌🙌🙌🙌💪💪
God I love the Huey
Above the Best, Fort Rucker 68/70 Hooper Stage Field. I need a bucket of rotor wash to go.
I like the Hawaiian lady on the board ;D
My favorite huey scene. The first few minutes of " more american graffitti" playing heatwave by martha reeves and the vandellas..
It may sound like a silly question but some of us need to know what indication would a pilot take from the dancing Hawaiian doll on the dashboard? What is actually measured and observed on it?
This shaking doll😂
Hula doll’s got it goin’ on.
whenever I hear the thump thump of a Huey, my PTSD over comes me.
That's a well maintained old slick. So, they still utilize some of these for like airshows probably or maybe NG.
Super
