Really been considering adding a Tranx to my arsenal as well

Honestly, if you can keep the Prorex clean, its a great reel. I really do like the Tranx but that drag system needs constant checking. The Prorex is a more powerful reel considering the drag and gear ratio. It just requires more maintenance

Good idea putting them into the shanty to warm up.

I have a Daiwa Prorex 400 8.1 and a Tranx 400 8.1. There is no comparison.. the Daiwa is way better.. it's smoother,, cast 2X as far effortlessly,, has 33 lbs of drag compared to the tranx 18. Line winds on better because of the T- wing system. Plus the Daiwa has magnetic anti backlash. Hard to backlash either reel. They both have 50 lb power pro V2 slick line , and both are used for trophy size striper in rivers throwing big swim and glide baits. The Tranx also goes from almost no drag on the star to full drag within like 2 or 3 clicks. There is hardly any midrange in between adjustment. I bought both reels new. The Prorex is louder on the star clicks, and the drag setting is a much wider range in between

I like how easy the Prorex is to clean as well.
