The egg is called century egg. It’s an Asian delicacy but the taste is an acquired one. I just love Tia’s expression when she ate it. Worth its weight in gold.
The dish with fermented egg is known in Thai as Phad Kapao. When you can't think of any particular fast dish, you can't be wrong to order Phad Kapao (followed by Kai or chicken or Moo/pork). Another nickname for this dish is thoughtless dish. This dish is the main staple of Thai street fast food order dish. Coconut ice cream on a hotdog bun is very old, as old as 60 years. It was/is my favorite sweet, cheap and fulfilling. I used to buy it for only one baht when young. Nowadays, the street vendor charges 10-20 baht depending on toppings.
I am Thai ; I have been following many of your videos. First of all, welcome to the Land of Smiles. Found that during this period the two of you often try to eat many traditional dishes that you have never eaten, and no one tells you the details of the ingredients and how to eat that food, but because Thai food has a variety of ingredients. both the seasoning part and the main ingredient of the mixed food by being placed apart before eating must be eaten that may have to be mixed first or something to be equated with something (may not everything in one bite food ) or eat in order ... which if I introduce in detail all the foods that the two of you will try, There will be no taste/excitement. on your tour which makes the enjoyment of watching your videos. ... Suggestions : One thing that would highly recommend ... If you want to get a deep taste of Thai food in every dish, you should taste it from the liquid and main ingredients. of food at the same time by using a "spoon" instead of a "fork" because the culture of cooking and eating purposes of Thai people will use it to fix it for helping push the food parts in the plate into the spoon. Forks are often used to hold food pieces in the cut, or pick and poke specific pieces into the mouth. (Which selecting this specific poke will not taste all food for the purpose of that kind of cooking)
That is an AWESOME suggestion, thank you very much! We'll make an effort to eat the 'main' dish with the 'liquid' parts now 🙂 Thanks again, you described that very well.
Ice cream in a hot dog bun is very common here in Thailand and you can usually get it from street vendors pushing carts everywhere. Usually there's an option for sticky rice at the bottom too and it's very good
Great footage, especially of the BTS arriving. I love both those gravy dishes! I've sat at one of those window tables...probably right where you were. 😆 The sushi conveyor belt restaurant looks cool. Will try it my next visit. Keep having fun.

Hi guys, I get hungry right after watching your clips late at night like this. Especially when seeing different types of sushi. Most of Thai people like to eat buffet very much. Grilled pork buffet (Moo - Kra - Ta), seafood buffet, Japanese buffet, Suki-Shabu buffet and Grill buffet I think you should try it once. This type of restaurant is easy to find as it can be seen in every mall. . I wish you a lot of happiness while in Thailand.
That's true, we have not tried a buffet! What is your favorite - seafood, Japanese, pork? Thank you for the recommendation, it always really appreciated 😊
I like Terminal 21, too. There are so many food courts and night markets in Bangkok. For Sushi, I think that the best sushi restaurant in Bangkok is Sushiro in Central World. By the way, Your footage is really good. I think that you are using iPhone 13 Pro, right? I usually don't like videos shot by a smartphone camera, but yours are incredibly good. Don't forget to try Thai dessert called mango sticky rice 👍👍 And, if you want to try durian, try durian monthong - Golden Pillow (ทุเรียนหมอนทอง). When you order, tell them you want the one crunchy/crispy on the outside and soft/chewy on the inside (กรอบนอกนุ่มใน - krob nok num ni). 👍👍
This time of the year is not Durian season. That’s why you don’t see it much. You may find at some supermarket. But I don’t recommend coz it will be very expensive and not good as in it’s season.
You might missed one of my fav , it is not in the foodcourt but in restuarant named "Tim Ho Wan" . It is a chinese dimsum restuarant which awarded 1 star by Michilin Guide. The pork bun menu is the best. And the price is quite reasonable.
T 21 easily the best and cheapest foodcourt in Thailand. I go well out of my way to eat there when I'm there. Can't wait to get back there. I recomend the pad si ew noodles. The place right at the end, level with where you guys sat. So good. Yum. Pork curry with rice is great and also one place does gyozas that are wicked.
It was delicious! Hor-Mok. Thanks for letting us know the name! The menus are usually in Thai, and when they're in English is is a very basically description like 'rice with chicken' so it's really nice to know what it's called!
Welcome back to Bangkok! I live right next to Terminal 21, I like your video however, I'm not sure about it being the best food court in Bangkok but it does have some great food stalls and very reasonably priced compared to other mall food courts so it's popular with both locals and tourists. In Terminal 21 food court, the vegetarian food stall is very popular as well as the traditional dessert stall. (you can also check out Central Embassy food court (fancier/the waiters serve you food after you order the food), Siam Paragon food court also has the famous chicken rice and Thipsamai padthai). oh! don't forget to try the famous Michelin star chef Jay Fai's drunken noodle now sold in 7-11 too (you can check out my review video I made comparing it to her real food - ua-cam.com/video/eW3sVMsen_s/v-deo.html)
Hey! Thanks for the info. We Googled 'best food court in Thailand' and Terminal 21 kept coming up. Definitely need to check out some of the other ones 🙂 We'll definitely try the 7-11 noodles, thanks for the awesome recommendation! We looked into eating at her actual places and it seems difficult to get reservations these days! Not to mention the price 😅
@@OnePackWanderers thank you for your kind comment! Your videos also have that 'feel good' energy that's very healing, so I look forward to watching them. Hello, cute couple. This is my first comment. Actually I have been following you two since entering Thailand. I would like to recommend you to eat Thai food with rice together in a bite. As you tried the fermented egg, even though I like it but never eat just the egg itself. It much better to mix in your mouth together with the Pad Kaprao and rice. That's why we use a spoon (on the dominant hand)and fork instead of knife and fork. Enjoy!
Thanks a lot of the tip! We had heard that Thai people usually eat with spoons instead of forks, and now we know why! We'll give the century egg another try, and see if we like it better that way! Happy New Year!!!
I prefer the Chinese 1000 years old egg than I call it the foetal egg, balut !!! I ate it (1000 years egg) as a child with congee Its a proces the egg goes through (it really does not take 1000 years), but people call balut also a kind of proces. asian noodles comes in different forms, some have thick gravy like the one you had and it is not considered a soup noodle. the reason why it is 'jiggly'/thick is because we use cornflour to thicken it
Thanks both of you for the insight. We'd never seen anything like those noodles in the US, usually Thai restaurants in the US focus mainly on Pad Thai and a few different curries. So it was a nice surprise!
Enjoyed your video. The food there at the beginning was delicious but when Covid-19 came in, great cooks relocated to their hometowns and most of the new cooks are new to the profession. There are more food courts with reasonable prices all over Bangkok. I'd recommend the one in Siam Paragon, Icon Siam, The Mall Lifestore Ngam-wong-wan.

Glad to see you guys enjoying so much different food! Ate a century egg in Hong Kong when I visited one time, it wasn't my cup of tea either... PS: Gah, I miss travelling!
I think the century egg is the type of food that you need to grow up eating in order to really appreciate it. Travel has to come back soon! It just has too 🥲
Hi I'm Thai fan i have been following you guys for a while Thank you for sharing good things for people who are coming here . i love you guys passion always smile ps.can i ask is tia half Asian?
Haven't been there quite long time prior to covid. I need to go back to check out. By the way, iconsiam basement lauches food festival from all provinces yesterday. I tried koa soi beef from lampang provinces and it was very good.....yum yum
A must stop when in Bangkok but it’s not the traditional thai feel… I would say, we’re at the $.99 store!! Everything under $1 and Don’t forget dessert😋😋 Keep up the great work🤙🤙 For some reasons, I don’t trust anything raw, especially sushi☠️☠️ I, too, had food poisoning in thailand eating seafood soup in Pattaya back in the 80’s and still haven’t forgot how it felt😩😩😷😷☠️
Definitely not the traditional feel, I would say street markets are best for that! We had a peak into the kitchen at the sushi place and it looked really clean, otherwise we a little weary of sea food sometimes. We got food poisoning in Morocco. It's funny how long it sticks with you 🤢
The best type of durian is durian monthong - Golden Pillow (ทุเรียนหมอนทอง). When you order one, tell them you want the one crunchy/crispy on the outside and soft/chewy on the inside (กรอบนอกนุ่มใน - krob nok num ni).
Ice skating in Thailand, that's something we've never heard before 😂 If we make it to Central World, we'll be sure to check it out. Thanks for the tip!
It’s definitely not the best food court. It’s actually well known to be catered to tourists. Prior to covid, I used to visit bkk 3-4 times a year for the past 10+ years!
3-4 times a year! Did work take you there, are do you just really like BKK? We just Googled 'best food court in Bangkok' and Terminal 21 kept showing up. Not going to lie, though, we've only been to Iconsiam, MBK, and Paragon in BKK. All great food courts but this one seemed to have more variety (and was less expensive than Paragon).
Just experimenting with different stuff 😅 By the way, good advice on the last comment (about moving past Abilene Paradox). Much easier to make decisions when everyone is a bit more up-front 🙂
@@OnePackWanderers I know it’s quite hard lol but I used to hate it when I was young, it looked disgusting and weird until I’ve tried a stir fired spicy century egg with minced pork and basil. I’ve changed my mind since then 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
The way you try to ear rice with only fork lol. You suppose to use spoon with fork to eat Thai food. because you need to eat with rice in one bite. imagine you use fork to eat rice with curry you won't get any curry soaked rice with fork for sure.
The egg has taste and smell like ammonia. The thai word of this egg called horse urinal egg. Don’t get it wrong idea. It is not make with horse urinal. It tell the smell like though. I like it. It is Chinese recipe.

Have a nice day
Liking the new One Pack Wanderers logo! I could shamelessly spend all day just at Sushi Express...
Thanks! It's a never-ending process of change 😂
We definitely had to cut ourselves off at the sushi place. Sooooo good 😊
Your outfit looked really cool in this vid Tia👍
I love terminal 21. I agree I think it is the best food court in BKK. The prices are so reasonable too. But as someone else said, mango sticky rice is a must there. I am surprised I haven't seen you two discovering it yet, its pretty commonly found. WARNNING. Highly addictive.
We tried mango sticky rice on Koh Phangan! You are right, it is SO addictive! We've had it in place of dinner a couple times, which is probably not so good 😅
Thais stir fry basil chicken look like you have to eat them all together don’t separate lol rice basil and egg
We'll try it that way next time 😊
In the US, usually food is meant to be eaten separately even if it's on the same plate. Some people in the US don't even like it when different food touches 😂 We are still getting used to the difference, and thanks you for the tip!
It just has too 🥲
Lovely couple
I like BKK Terminal 21, good location, right next to bts, cheap and good food.
Hi I'm Thai fan i have been following you guys for a while Thank you for sharing good things for people who are coming here . i love you guys passion always smile
ps.can i ask is tia half Asian?
Tia is half Japanese 🙂
I wanna go TH again. When is boarders gonna be open and everything goes back to normal 🙃
Hopefully this happens soon. We were lucky to get here when Thailand (briefly) did the Test & Go thing.
Where are you from?
you guys have to go to Sushiro at Central World, really special experience.
We can't say no to sushi, thanks for the recommendation!
Haven't been there quite long time prior to covid. I need to go back to check out. By the way, iconsiam basement lauches food festival from all provinces yesterday. I tried koa soi beef from lampang provinces and it was very good.....yum yum
Oooh, thanks for letting us know that about Iconsiam! 😊
We were in Bangkok the last few days and terminal 21 was our favorite spot for cheap good food 😄
Right?! Such a cool spot 🙂 Where are you guys from?
I am hungry ,too 🤤😋
Enjoy your trip
Y’all are brave! That egg looked 😑.
Try anything once, right? 😅
A must stop when in Bangkok but it’s not the traditional thai feel… I would say, we’re at the $.99 store!! Everything under $1 and Don’t forget dessert😋😋
Keep up the great work🤙🤙
For some reasons, I don’t trust anything raw, especially sushi☠️☠️
I, too, had food poisoning in thailand eating seafood soup in Pattaya back in the 80’s and still haven’t forgot how it felt😩😩😷😷☠️
Definitely not the traditional feel, I would say street markets are best for that! We had a peak into the kitchen at the sushi place and it looked really clean, otherwise we a little weary of sea food sometimes.
We got food poisoning in Morocco. It's funny how long it sticks with you 🤢
Terminal 21. Guessed it. Nice!
Hello !!! OPW (One Pack Wanderers) ... Have a good trip in any attraction places in Thailand.
Hello! Thank you 😊
Thai people call this type of egg (Khai Yiao Ma).
If you eat it often and get used to it, it will be delicious. Try to eat more often. HA HA HA
Hahaha, we'll give it a second shot. I believe it's the type of taste you have to acquire 😂
Now I'm feel hungry 😆
First??? Keep up the great content, You 2 are awesome.
Well that's really nice of you! Haha thank you! 😊
Please , next time you try the durian, that tastes much better than it smells... you'll be surprised
The best type of durian is durian monthong - Golden Pillow (ทุเรียนหมอนทอง). When you order one, tell them you want the one crunchy/crispy on the outside and soft/chewy on the inside (กรอบนอกนุ่มใน - krob nok num ni).
We'll give durian a try next time we see it 🙂
Seems like you guys are hitting shopping malls in Bangkok......you can go ice skating at Central World... .... there's sushi there too lol
Ice skating in Thailand, that's something we've never heard before 😂 If we make it to Central World, we'll be sure to check it out. Thanks for the tip!
I like food courts to avoid the heat sometimes look forward to going there but gonna go after February 1st
February 1st they are restarting Test & Go right?
@@OnePackWanderers yes only quarantine 1st and 5th day with a negative test so I look forward to coming there 🥳🥳🥳
The first one looks like 7/11 food 😂
Cost about the same too, so can't be too upset about that 😂
It’s definitely not the best food court.
Catered to tourists with that cheapest prices?😂
I have never seen that food court empty like that. Bangkok is hurting.
It was starting to open up before Omicron came. It's pretty sad how quiet some places are. Hopefully things get back to normal soon
ผัดกะเพราะหมูสับใส่ไข่เยี่ยวม้า และห่อหมก
Lol - how do you eat so much? Much fun!!!!
Mostly by skipping breakfast everyday 😂
T21 cheapest food court yes, the best no ! The best food court in Bangkok is the legendary food court in MBK ! You guys need to go to MBK mall.
We did go to MBK (just didn't happen to record it). It was very good! A lot of the food stalls were closed though.
Good choice to eat sushi in Thailand very cheap right
Cheap and very high quality! In the US we would not be able to afford to eat at a place like that 😅
changing the branding?
Just experimenting with different stuff 😅 By the way, good advice on the last comment (about moving past Abilene Paradox). Much easier to make decisions when everyone is a bit more up-front 🙂
@@OnePackWanderers Yeah, if nobody wins by the way you deal with things, why stick to it right? :D
The egg has a 'cheese' taste.
Hmmm, that makes sense. I can see how that might taste kind of cheesy to some people 🤔
Century egg is my favorite lol.
Haha we need to try it again and eat it properly to make a fair judgement 😅
@@OnePackWanderers I know it’s quite hard lol but I used to hate it when I was young, it looked disgusting and weird until I’ve tried a stir fired spicy century egg with minced pork and basil. I’ve changed my mind since then 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
Wow...a new logo.
You noticed! Tia made it!
I went there TONIGHT!
Small world! Did you eat a century egg? 😅
@@OnePackWanderers nup but tonight anything is possible I’m at at the erawan museum it’s a great place and on the bts!
crunchy noodle should eat when it still crunchy
Gotta try that again 🤔
The way you try to ear rice with only fork lol. You suppose to use spoon with fork to eat Thai food. because you need to eat with rice in one bite. imagine you use fork to eat rice with curry you won't get any curry soaked rice with fork for sure.
Ha, so we've been told. Will pick up that spoon next time 😉
The egg has taste and smell like ammonia. The thai word of this egg called horse urinal egg. Don’t get it wrong idea. It is not make with horse urinal. It tell the smell like though. I like it. It is Chinese recipe.
That's a funny name 😂 I think it might be one of those foods that is better enjoyed when you grow up eating it 😅
A century egg in Thai language is "Khai Yiaw Ma" means a horse's pee egg because it smells like horse pee! :D
They ferments the eggs in alkaline liquid (most common recipe was water/ash/tea leaf)
This is such a colorful, perfect way to describe it! 😂😄
Thank you for the info!
I’m so jealous of you two.Bangkok’s food court is the best in the whole world. You Can find lot lot of delicious foods.Terminal 21 is the cheapest foods in Thailand.
The best in the whole world... I think you might be right! They're all so good and affordable 🙂 We want to try the ones in Singapore too, we've heard lots of good things about those
you go banjakiti park beautiful night
Thank you for the tip! 😊
You make me hungry
Then we're doing our job! 😂😂
Black egg(century egg) might be better w/ chilli sauce (Satan sauce).
Ahhh, if we try it again we will try it with chili sauce
They call “preserved egg” or “Kai yeaw ma” in Thais
“ไข่เยี่ยวม้า” you can detach from you tube how to make it though 👍👍👍
Search
The other one is “steamed coconut milk curry “ or “Hoh Moke”
ห่อหมก in Thais which had a several recipes either fish or sea food krub
Thank you for the tips! Making those eggs is a vert interesting process 🧐
It's a preserved egg (khai yeaw ma)
Was definitely an interesting taste 🤔
No worry but not liking the century egg. I grew up in Thailand and still never like it. 😂
Hahaha it seems a lot of people are really divided on those eggs!
the egg is preserved duck egg not old egg...hahahaha
Haha you are right! Don’t they call it thousand year old egg though?
A food court with a view
So many delicious food courts in Thailand. In the United States at least, food courts usually feel like a punishment for eating in a mall. Not so here 😂
@@OnePackWanderers So true!
🙏🤗
The ice cream should be eaten like a sandwich.
Interesting! We both have sensitive teeth, and are afraid the coldness would hurt 😂
Yummy 😋😋
I'm Thai but I never been there before 55
If you're ever in BKK, it's a nice spot to check out 🙂
อร่อยเลยสิกินเยอะระวังอ้วน..นะ
We will be careful 😂
สองคนไม่อิ่ม กับ ฟาสฟู้ดส์ ต่อด้วยซูชิ
Ha, it's all we ate that day 😂
🙏❤️🇹🇭
Why don't u use a spoon hahaha
Old habits die hard 😂😂
🇹🇭🙏🙂👍👍👍🙏👋👋
