I love this idea so much. I just rewatched the video because of your comment. Oh man... I did say that over and over didn't it? It makes me want to have a shirt with that on there today.
5:25 yep! I accidentally donated a bunch of my husband's pants😮 I went to the thrift store the next day & bought as many of them that I could find back 😂 It was only about half! 😅 Another great video 🎉
Oh oh! What a shock that must have been. Oh wow. I'm laughing and crying for you at the same time. I'm always afraid I'm going to do something like that! :-)
I have several closets that I have decluttered; stuff not being used and I have donated all of these things. Such a difference in my mental health overall
Hola. Its nice that u donated the items. One mans junk is another mans treasure. Ur bed looks so cozy. Lovely dishes. Oh no. I love using Essential oils. Sorry they make u sneeze. TFS I hope u have a great day.
Such a useful video Rozanne. I decluttered my kitchen last week. Any food I know I won’t use or make/bake I put into the food bank. I’ve done so much decluttering since retiring. It’s been a slow process but very liberating. Have a good weekend! ❤
Hi inda! I'm glad you're enjoying your retirement! The decluttering process is kind of fun, don't you think? I think slow is good (but that's how I'm doing it). I don't mind taking multiple passes through areas and am getting to where I feel really good about it. I'm not letting external pressure determine how much I get rid of or keep. It's a "heart thing," if that make sense. I''m thinking you get that. Hope you have a wonderful week!
Wow! I need to do this! Sorry about the glass flowery item your daughter gave you. I am very sentimental and I probably would have kept the granddaughters note to Santa (even when you had many) and definitely your college program I would have saved. I've been wanting to get rid of several spring type placemats my son gave me years ago (don't use them), but, darn I just can't seem to! One of these days I hope to get bolder with each "pass". I am really enjoying your videos and am very happy I subscribed. Thank you! 🌻
Yeah, I may end up regretting that Santa letter, although she does make lots of things for me. (I watch her after school and she also lives here.) I have too many things of my old children's and will have to go through them soon. I've tried to get the kids to do it themselves, but haven't succeeded, so I'm trying to avoid the same situation building up with my granddaughters. It's kind of a struggle to find the right balance, I think. I'm SO glad you're here!
Thanks! I'm actually going slower on the decluttering lately - only work on one smaller area a week - because I've made some mistakes I really regret. (Got too excited, because decluttering is fun.) It's a bummer when you realize that you gave one of your favorite sweaters away and then you go to use some kitchen equipment that's no longer there. Don't get me wrong, I'm still donating a LOT (and am making some REAL progress,) but I have to be more careful. I still do move some things around, but they are primarily things that are really in the wrong location and I'm wondering, "What on earth was I thinking about putting it here? No wonder I forgot about it." Then I wait and see if I actually use the item. If I end up not using it, then I feel okay donating it. When it comes to seasonal items (seasons that are upcoming), I'm waiting to see if I use them during the season before I give them away. Just yesterday, I found a bin of decor that my husband didn't realize had donations in it so he put it back with the other decor. Then, I was decorating for regular spring (my decor is super simple these days) and I realized that I'd mixed a few of my favorite birds in there. I put them out at least 6 months of the year and would have felt really bad if I had donated them. My biggest takeaway from the decluttering I've done so far? It's about my emotions rather than stuff. This process is kind of like therapy. Hope you have a wonderful week!
That's so neat to hear. I'm glad you like it. :-) About 10 years ago and man told me that I have an old lady voice and that I should try change it. How strange that was. My voice is just part of my equipment. It's always kind of made me laugh that he said it.
Thank you for your videos. I am rather a hoarder and have dificulty in getting rid of stuff, but your advice and hints have inspired me to tackle my over stuffed home.
Love this video, Rozanne. Also love your longer hair!! Could you go to the thrift store and retrieve your wall hanging, or at least see if it's still there? I did that once with a shirt I didn't mean to donate and there it was, hanging up at Goodwill! 😂 Might be worth a try!?! 💗🤗
Thanks for giving me the suggestion! I just took down the next load and went straight in and checked. Unfortunately, it wasn’t there but it was worth trying. ❤️ oh. And thanks about the hair. I’m experiencing the terror of growing it out right now, so every day is adventure. My goal is to get it shoulder length. I shall persist!
Thanks Connie! Growing out short hair is always interesting. I'm never certain from day to day how things are going to go. It's an exercise in patience. Hope all is well with you guys. The news about Scott's book being made into a movie is amazing!
Thanks for your video! By the way, since you like to read, you might decide to make bookmarks out of some of the cards you receive. I've started doing that.
I’m sorry, I don’t. All of the companies I used to deal with are out of business. But when I’ve actually needed to buy scrapbooking supplies (binders, stickers, page protectors so paper) I’ve had good luck finding things on Amazon. I think some of the remaining companies are selling there because local stores really don’t carry supplies much these days. Hope that helps!
Do you mean, set a time limit to how long I will declutter in one session? If so, then no. I really go by how I am feeling physically. When I get tired, I stop. I have to closely monitor my energy because I have Fibromyalgia. Sometimes, I can do more. Sometimes, not so much. You could see my video about the Dots method to learn more about that. The thing that has made the biggest difference to me is that I keep moving forward with the decluttering - even if I can only do a little bit at a time or so in something in my donation bag as I come across it. I’ve take many carloads to the donation center just by doing that. Hope that helps!
@@TowardsASimpleLife yes I was wondering about decluttering in one session. Some people say to set a timer which always seemed off to me. Sometimes you have the energy for more, sometimes less, and either is just fine! Fortunately I have gotten less sentimental. I prefer to have memories rather than stuff. Here is a an example. A few years ago I was cleaning out some things in the basement. I found myself thinking; I can't get rid of this, it has sentimental value. Yet when I thought about it I couldn't remember who gave me the item! Can't be sentimental if I can't remember who gave it to me or when. Hahahaha
That’s a good idea. Sorry that I don’t have one that it works with. Someday I’ll probably realize what it is, but it is already gone now. My memory is gone too. Ha! Have a great week.
@@TowardsASimpleLife, I have 2 of those green straps! They’re used for stretching and were recommended by my physical therapist. Your channel just popped up on my feed this week and I subscribed right away. I’m in my 60s, also have fibromyalgia (secondarily to hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos), and have had other very serious health challenges over the last 6 years. I’m currently improved and in remission, trying to learn how to navigate my new normal. Your channel is exactly what I needed and came at exactly the right time. Hooray, algorithm!Thank you so much for the very helpful content!!
Wow! I’m so glad UA-cam brought you here! It’s always neat to meet another Fibro-sister. I wish I had known what those green straps were. Oh well. That’s the way the decluttering ball rolls sometimes. See you!
I hate to see you throwing all these things into the trash. That’s not very eco-friendly and sustainable. You have a grand-daughter, I think she deserves to live a good and healthy life on this planet 🌎😢
Hi Sandra. You should feel better to know that the big pile of items I posed with were donations. I posed with them right before my husband loaded them up and took them to the thrift store. I didn’t film me throwing the actual trash bags away. They contained actual garbage. Anything worth saving is always donated. 😀
Have you been decluttering lately? What are some items you feel really great about donating or throwing away?
This gal is the OG of decluttering. Nice to see a boomer doing this.
Thanks for being so kind to me. It's been such fun to read your comments!
“You can go ahead and get rid of it…” Great slogan for merch!!
I love this idea so much. I just rewatched the video because of your comment. Oh man... I did say that over and over didn't it? It makes me want to have a shirt with that on there today.
You have motivated me to start getting rid of things that I no longer need. Thank you 😊
I’m so glad! I appreciate hearing from you very much!

Paper cup in the bathroom? Why are you using disposable paper cups to drink out of in the bathroom - why don’t use a GLASS??
