My first pass weekend in AIT at FT Bliss was canceled because of the Sgt Major’s academy. The night before, an E9 at the academy hopped on his ‘Busa, drunk, and proceeded to go the wrong way down I10 at triple digit speed. He impacted a truck, and vaporized. All of TRADOC was locked down. That would have been Aug/Sept of 2005, and I am still pissed at that dude! 😂
When I was in the AF, I went through the non-res & res SNCO Academy, then Joint SNCOA. I was former acft mx and at the time the base A1. There were a lot of knuckle heads struggling with doing a memo in Word. It was a pretty funny experience considering what rank we were.
I was sent to the 2 week USASMA course after completing some modules over the internet back in 2000. All of us were SMU/Unit guys so it was a blast, but we were integrated with the course that was in session full of a bunch of leaf eaters.
Hilarious! I called Branch and asked for a Sister-Service equivalent, lucked out and got the Navy. Learned a shit ton about the Navy, met some great Chiefs and the best part, 6 weeks and done. Plus it was a drunken blur for the most part.
i've always speculated one of the modules at USASMA is getting assigned a square foot of grass, the only place on the entirety of fort bliss with real grass on it, and then fighting with the other students over walking on it and who has a better square foot of grass. but they do have the best subway i've ever been to. full-on pepper grinders. side note, i didn't realize Pat was a fan of michael scott
I just complete CGSOC and found the same experience with some officers who had limited - at best - capabilities with basic presentation and research skills, much less using MS Office (PPT, Excel, Word, etc.). Written papers and presenting in front of a group was a very mixed bag! Surprising to me.... I don't think it's gotten better since you went the SM school.
I'm actually surprised that someone competent made it that far. Yes, I was in the military and seen what I seen, first hand. We dealt with nuclear missiles and my command structure left me wondering.
The the big army really sucked. I got out as an E-5(11b) after getting wounded. Best thing that ever happened to me honestly. At that point in 2008 the level of incompetence I saw was jaw dropping. With All those deployments under my belt and the things I did, I could have been a freaking colonel had I gone in as an officer.what Utter stupidity of leadership the military had even back then. Can’t imagine how bad it is now. Thanks to the haji who shot me. You did me a solid bro.
i got emergency leave, mom died right after we got back from iraq. i was a fuckin 21-year-old kid, my girlfriend was 21 too, she worked at gamestop near post. my team leader got caught stalking her, waiting outside her work more than 3 times(she recognized him from a "send your wife to work instead of yourself" day) and he said the reason was he was trying to find me - again, i was on emergency leave from the commander. he got a dui right after, got promoted to e6. our pl was cool, but he got moved right after we got back and our brand new pl couldnt do shit. our psg got caught molesting his 3-year-old daughter, our squad leader got 3 duis before pcsing to campbell. a lot of joes had gotten duis since we got back, all got kicked out or majorly fucked. yet for some reason he is thriving in the army and the others in leadership who were on the same exact deployment as us got favored for the exact same infraction. smart people get out
I'm 63 and until I retired almost two years ago, I had to use PP, Excel, Word every day not to mention archaic MIL/DOD/GOV programs. I was more surprised by many younger people being computer "program" illiterate than by people my age being completely computer illiterate.
If you were ordered to love one another, by the God of old. Then it is just, to not judge you individually, but as a whole, by your new God, same as the old. If you have carried out this commandment, then every man will be rewarded with salvation. So when you love....Leave no man behind. -Master of Shadow Boxing
One of the few not brainwashed from that place I’ve seen so many dudes they were good guys go to there and then afterwards they turn into cucks, so I always respected the dudes that go there and don’t change.
@@jamesb.7859 I didn’t have the opportunity to attend I chose to retire instead because I was burned out personally and knew it was time, but speaking from reference of fellow friends I was kind of joking and serious at the same time. It’s in my experience it’s hit and miss some are still the same guy/gal but some it’s like who are you?!
Any of you clowns ever work with a memograph and a Selectric III. Yep I'm so old we banged out messages on stone with hammer and chisel then transmitted them by trebuchet. Damn Mac you built one of those things didn't you?
The Russian's wish they had REMFs like we have in the US. Funny, when I went to NCOEs the only NCO's who knew Powerpoint were the REMFs because combat arms were either deployed or in the field training and not building Powerpoint briefs...Always suspicious of a "shooter" who knew Powerpoint too well (usually a shitbag). Not saying anything about Pat, of course!
15 seconds into this video, VERY INTENSE. Pat, is definitely in a league of his own and he always sets a great example for others.
God bless you Pat, Thanks for being a true patriot and a role model.
awesome. The disparity between SOF and "big Army" becomes apparent at those service schools and MILED
The worst part is those REMF as I call them became leaders and look at how well it’s Turing out .
So true, Pat. I was surprised at the ineptitude of some of my fellow students. I still remember way too much about Azerbaijan.

High Speed and Low Drag. I so wish I had met you back in the day. I was 3rd ID in 1992 thru 1993 in Germany.

You have to go to the SMA to get issued your “pet peeve”. I was kinda high speed in that regard as I got mine as an E6.
REMF's ! Love it hahahaa

You guys are a riot! "Power point". Hate it!
Rumor in the lower enlisted ranks is you pcs down to the SMA and everyone gets a full frontal lobotomy. hehe
I don’t know what but in a way you remind me of James Yeager
Death by powerpoint!
REMFs..🤣

👍
A true professional could do seamless, no-look transitions with an overhead projector.
Or better yet, butcher paper
To be anal, the plural form of SGM is “Sergeants Major”. “Sergeant Major’s” would be the possessive form for an individual SGM.

Anti-tattoo SMA Chandler crept out of there
