      My first course will be on the 6th of April. What do you think the restrictions are concerning weight limits? My Jump specifies 235 but I’m 6’1 and about 250. Second. What learning resources would you recommend prior to ground school? My jump zone has provided links to certain information but I find the links hard to navigate. Last. I have decided to invest in my own helmet. The cookie M3. Do you see any benefits of supplying your own gear and what we should consider buying prior to our first jump?

    • @SkydiveVibes
      @SkydiveVibes  5 років тому +2

      Cohunnamatta For the weight, I would tell the instructors on the dropzone. For preparation, reading the USPA SIM is a good start although it's not really fun to read... (Maybe I should work on that myself, eh, eh. 😜) For your first jump, I would simply recommend using the gear they will lend you. Maybe wait until you complete your AFF before investing in a helmet. When you are ready, I can help you get a small discount on your helmet. ;)

    I skipped tandem and went straight for AFF, the first jump was the best thing ever and the fact I got to experience the sensory overload as well as being in control made the fear instense! I am not sure this is the best route for everyone but I am glad I did it this way, it made everything so much more real. I hate not being n control, if you do too and you know you want to skydive, skip and go straight for AFF. That first jump is mind shattering.

    Started my AFF last week. Got the school done and did my 1st jump the next day. A little rough on my exit. I'm tall so it's a learning curve. I recovered very well. Everything went great. My instructor wanted me to arch more so I'm working on it. I had my toggles pulled a little down and kinda got stuck at 4k ft. After my instructor radioed and told me what I was doing wrong it was an easy fix. Landed in the DZ well, a little rough landing but it wasn't bad as I wasn't injured. I needed to pull half way 1st. The main thing is that I learned a whole lot on that one jump under canopy, I will do much better my next jump. I want to move along faster but I have other financial responsibilities first. I will get there. Love your videos!

    I wanted to comment so late as now I am AFF I am finding myself watching so many of your amazing videos. They are brilliant. So nothing I am saying is critical. Just my thoughts on this video. I live in he UK so I waited 6 weeks since ground school for my first AFF jump having never left a plane before in the sky. And I paid for a tandem out of boredom. I felt funny on the way with the wind in my mouth head down. I had no time to clear ears. I felt sick under canopy. And the ground rush was intense out of my control. This only happens in tandem from what I have heard. Especially motion sickness under canopy. It’s 100% different doing it yourself. I am moving through the levels and addicted. It’s so amazing and incredibly different on your own. So I would say a tandem can put someone off if they don’t like it which jumping on your own won’t. A lot of people love tandem. But personally I hated it. Yet I love skydiving. I’m hooked and possessed by it. It’s awesome. Your videos are brilliant. A big help to me. But If you hated tandem. Don’t necessarily reconsider skydiving because it’s so so different when your in control 😊. X

    I started my AFF couse a few weeks ago, with good and bad jumps, but failed Level 4 (I was spinning like a record, round round like a record), so I’ll have to do that again. I am struggling, but I don’t want to give up. I did a pretty decent level 3 and I was smiling all day after that, but level 4 got me bummed again. I completely realize that skydiving is 90% in your mind and that has been the hardest part for me! I still don’t know if I will make it to the DZ next weekend (got work), but I really don’t want to give up, I know I can do this!

    • @SkydiveVibes
      @SkydiveVibes  5 років тому +5

      Definitely! Don't give up! If you still struggle next time, you can see if you can do a quick 10-20 minutes in a wind tunnel to work on your stability. Also, look at your video and get feedback from different coaches and focus on the tips next time. ;)

    • @abadialsharif8537
      @abadialsharif8537 5 років тому +1

      I am not a coach nor experienced skydiver, but I had the same situation.
      I had 3 jumps of pure spinning, and it was a real nightmare. The problem was that I took my instructor's advise wrong when he said keep your head strait. This advise prevented me from looking around and moving my neck, which is totally wrong, and therefore it was the main cause of my spinning problem. I should have kept my spine strait not my neck.
      I hope this is helpful & blue skies.

    I am going to start my AFF course in about a year. However, I do have very poor internal rotation and rotator cuff strength in my right shoulder. I worry it will cause me to either not be able to reach my BOC at all, or it will cause me to have to contort my body into an improper deployment position, which ofcourse could then cause a main chute entanglement or improper opening. Is there anyway I could get a left handed BOC pouch before I start the course?

    • @SkydiveVibes
      @SkydiveVibes  5 років тому

      Thats a good question. You should ask your instructors at the DZ. You will get to try out the gear and deployment procedure on the floor and you'll be able to see if you can reach it. But we got to think that there is a case where you might not be able to jump if you can't deploy...

      It's a great question. You would have to find where you could do one because it's not a standard jump and some more experience as a skydiver might be needed.

    Hi. I really want to start my AFF course, but I am a little bit concerned about my flexibility since as I understood a good arch is crucial skill.

      Practice the “stable arch position” in the mirror. I also set a timer for 1 minute (length of time in free fall)

    It costs sooooo much tho. I'm scared that I would be too scared to jump from the plane and it would be so awkward

    What is the difference between solo license and A license ? Can I still jump by myself only with a solo license ?

    • @pnwadventurist
      @pnwadventurist 4 роки тому +2

      Once you complete AFF, you'll be considered a solo student, which yes you'll be able to jump by yourself, although you'll have to jump with a coach on your check dives to get your A license

    Any recommendations on goggles for glasses wearers?

    • @xBoddahhh
      @xBoddahhh 2 роки тому +1

      Most dropzones will have goggles to go over the top of your glasses, and once licenced you can jump with a closed faced/visor helmet

      @@xBoddahhh I’ve been using the ones at the drop zone but I’m hoping to get something more comfortable that I can just put my prescription in. Thank you for your response! 😀

      Not at all! It is a sport that can be learned at almost any age. Simply stretchout a bit as flexibility is important. ;)
