The story of Wiimali

Most authors can remember the day they first saw a story they'd written in book form, with illustrations and a proper cover ready to be read.
But very few have that experience while they're still in primary school.
But that was the experience for the seven students of Toowoomba's Harlaxton State School when they launched Wiimali, the picture book they'd written together with support and guidance from the Child Writes Fund with financial backing from the FKG Group.
As the authors and the team behind the project explained to me at the launch, the book explores the ideas of place, of connection, and finding your voice just in time to make a difference.
