I just came back from a 3 week trip to Ireland and Scotland and wore this pack everyday. Also had a regular suitcase but it stayed in the hotels and I used the pack for everything I could have needed. It performed marvelously. But for most EDC here at home, my Ready Pack is my normal carry. Vertx is expensive but so well made.
The reason for the "luggage pass through" being sideways is so that when you have a ballistic panel installed, as you previously mentioned, you can jam your non dominant arm through it and use the bag as a ballistic shield.
The Vertx Gamut is is a smooth looking bag, very stylish. Didn't think it was tactical looking at all compared to what I use personally, the Tactical 5.11 Rush 24. Thanks for sharing, cause sharing is caring, Oorah!
I found a random bag by Hilton ( the hotel chain) for like $10 in a Salvation Army last year, and so far I have absolutely loved it. One of the most random products, but it fits my carry perfectly. But I’m still crushing on this one you got!
definitely a nice bag. I would probably only use it the "hidden Molly" mode as a go bag and pack it out with essentials, mags, tools, ifak, SBR.... the usual. Great review. Might just pick one up since all of my backpacks are black. Thanks for sharing
Got this bag because of your in depth review. Was Looking at the Maxpetion Everyday Citizen, but this bag has so much more room and features the other bag just didn't have. I really like the maxpedtion internal Gun/Holster carrier as the Multi Purpose holster is not my favourite by Vortex. I use the Maxpedition Compact for the range and love how I can use the velcro attachments inside the bag. I bought the overflow Bag, along with some other Tactigami attachments. In the end what sold me was the fact that this bag does scream out I got the p226 Navy Seal locked and loaeded. Thanks Marine X just subscribed, that detail is a game changer and goes with my personal philosophy of Concealed Carrying helps you blend in and gives you a tactical advantage.
Great review. I've been carrying a 5.11 COVERT 18 for several years and really like it. I've been looking for a replacement in the 15-20L range lately. Your insight on the water bottle pockets and the Molle panel are very helpful.
Nice, really honest review. Definitely agree w/ your gripes and appreciate hearing it. That side luggage pass through is a big bummer for me as well. But the MOLLE would be badass if I was going to use this as a truck grab back or something.
Super agree, it’s a bummer they don’t have something to hook onto on their shoulder straps. For cameras, phones, water bottles, etc. i definitely noticed all the Gamuts hang wired and low on my back. I have a few versions, but only because I acquired them. I would t pay that hefty price tag for them. I’m not a 511 guy but I prefer their more “gray” packs over Vertx.
I have 2 vertx bags, love them. My ONE complaint for both of them that should be standard for all bags are, please let them stand up straight. It drives me mad that they will not. Please VERTX
I got the Gamut as well as a couple of Ready Packs from Vertex. Love them. Making GHB for wife and son. Thanks for your reviews, advice and input. Thanks for your service!
For me i actually chose to ware defiance type jeans or pants with hidden pockets and have my gear on me Pack is always in vehicle What i carry in pockets will get me back to my vehicle to main kit
I have the 2.0, and I prefer the 3.0s molle panel because it had velcro throughout and not just a middle section. I also like the hook and loop on the inside of the flip open main compartment instead of 2 fixed zipper pouches. I do also like the full size bottle holder, but my 2.0 can carry my bigger hydroflask. I won't be upgrading because the 2.0 is good enough for me and the straps don't have placed for a camelbak attachment or flashlight.
Hi, thanks a lot for your review. Here is my thought regarding possible feature that hasn't been mentioned: can front pocket flap work as backpack-bottom holder strap in conjunction with included hooks and waist band mounts? (to hold a blanket underneath, for example) By the way some backpacks can sit in luggedge hoding not by special sleve but by waist strap and chest strap, but it depends on shoulders shape.
This suggestion has been made... You can do it in a field expedient manner now, but it isn't as secure as it would be if there were anchor points for it specifically.

@@MichaelB2L It would be great if the material that made up the pocket was elastic. So that it wouldn’t hinder how inside of the bag functioned once a an item was placed into the pocket. Especially on the EDC ready pack.
Do you feel you can actually put a multi tool, flashlight, knife in that molle panel pocket?? I put those items on first and found myself wishing that pocket was actually about a half inch or an inch deep. In reality there is maybe 1/4 so the flap is very tight over any item i put in there! Then if i put anything in the main pocket it pushes these items against that flap even more making it very lumpy and tight despite the main pocket not being truly full
great review, my only question is, you talk about the green ready pack like its a much better size for you because its smaller than the 25 liter gamut, but then go on to say you wish it was bigger like a 25 liter bag..... it sounds like you prefer a 20 liter bag, being that your only gripe with the gamut is that it feels too big.
Great video! What kind of holster is that, in the CCW compartment and where can I get one. I have 2 tactigami holsters and they just really flop around. I would love a rigid holster that can be attached to hook and loop! Thanks again.
If your Tactigami holsters "flop around" they aren't put together correctly. That being said, Crossbreed and QVO make really good options, as well as an up-and-comer called Fire For Effect Solutions. There is also the Belt Adapter Panel (BAP), which mimics a belt in the bag, so you just plug your holster into it.
The thing that sucks the most about these bags is that there’s no way to cinch it up the sides to take up slack when you have it empty to make it less floppy. It drives me insane. I feel like all normal ass backpacks have that feature.
@@MarineX I found a temporary solution to this. I bought some generic buckle straps on Amazon and slipped one through the luggage pass through, and another through the two small loops on top of the side pockets. Works great! If I learn how to sew I can probably make it much nicer. They can easily be completely removed and used to do other stuff if needed too.
I have several Vertx bags and they are always a disappointment after I use them for a while. They need to stop with the silly hidden molle area and make that a dedicated admin area with some actual organization. It's like they put zero effort or thought into the inside of the bag(s) If you could get 5.11 organization with vertx material and construction, you would be onto something.
