Ikr, i know a LOT of people talk about how good they can drive, but i legit could have done most of that speed just staying in 1 lane imao, this event looks fun i need to try it.
That is impressive, my minimum speed thru the Narrows was 117 MPH pulling 0.94 Gs. When did you run? I looked back thru the results for the last 10 years and there was a Porsche 928 that ran several times in the Unlimited, but no 911's.
@@AzDave47 I ran a fully race prepared 911 twin turbo with fuel cells, full roll-cage, halon fire system, fire suit and a sister co-pilot screaming 'you're going to kill us' the entire run :-) This would have been 2000 or 2001, UNL Class. The next year I ran an Ultima GTR with a 1450bhp twin-turbo dry sump and we hit 247 mph shortly after the start, but the car went unstable, and I thought it was aerodynamics but it ended up being steering rate and geometry. I quit open racing after that year because a friend of mine crashed his identically prepared Porsche twin turbo when they blew a tire at 195 mph and had an off-road excursion, 12 end-over-end rolls, and there was nothing left of the car except a roll-cage and two critically injured passengers. His wife survived, but he had broken his neck in two places, and had internal injuries, and it took him two years to die, hard to watch. My kids were 3, 7 & 8 at the time. I continued to road-race both the Porsche and the Ultima... you can have a bad day at a race track and bend some expensive equipment, but you probably won't die. Open road races are dangerous, and you never hear about the tragedies' and deaths. That's the dirty secret of this particular sport.
My guess is the engine would probably not do 150 in 8th gear as it is so much an overdrive. Also, when running the course and you get a mile marker time, and want to change your speed noe, the higher gears would respond too slowly, introducing another factor into trying to zero out my time. Usually in the last 4 miles I am trying to true up 0.4 seconds. Just the time to make a change happens 1/4 mile (6 seconds) after you go by the mile marker.
Yall obviously never been that speed, and even more obviously never recorded yourself going that speed, let alone cornering, everything looks slower on the onboard camera FYI, stick to videogames bruh 😂🤣
Pretty close to being a typical early Sunday morning drive for me……
I agree!

I ran in the unlimited class in a Porsche 911 twin turbo. We averaged around 165 thru the narrows, 207 on the straights and 187.6 average overall.

One of our club members won this event last year. I would like to try it.
What camera set up did you use for this footage? Awesome looking course, very cool concept for an event!
To think you could have thrown it into 8th gear, dropped the RPM to low 4k and achieved high teens MPG at that speed...

Lame
Let's see you get out there and do it. You'd go out the left side door in the first turn.
Not going that slow 😂

@@Garf2O been faster than that in slow cars 😂
