Don’t call rituals or tradition stupid. You are not in India, nobody is asking or forcing you for the tradition. Its where the blue denim girl called Karwa Chauth is stupid. Calling a ritual stupid is laughing on the face of every ancestor who did this. We dont care anymore if it gives us a long life or not, but we enjoy the day as we dedicate it to our beloved. There is a contention in Indian culture where a father's approval is the biggest complement for any son (son particularly) and they always set their works against that standard of validation. The fathers in India, are culturally grown up, to push their sons hard and be borderline abusive to the point they never approve their son no matter how good work they do. Even though most of them are appreciative of their sons, they never say it to the face of their sons. They love being villains of their sons' lives. This has a strong foundation from Mahabharata, where a blind father who is fond of his 100 sons, turned blind eye to his sons' atrocities and lead to the destruction of the entire family/clan.
@sheshabkjoshi, Maybe in twisted indian families and bollywood culture. Haven't seen such obsessive bs or its justification in any of gazillion Indian families that we know. As for you, get well soon.

@sheshankjoshi So Mahabharat is the reason for their behaviour?? Bullsh*t.Thats what they choose to learn from a sea of knowledge. Dr BR Ambedkar said a bad book can be used for the betterment of people if the people handling/reading/implementing it are good people. " Karwa chowth" is an Indian ritual for cementing the relationship between the couple. In Indian culture just like karwa chowth ritual there are other rituals for cementing the different relationships in a family. The country's like USA or western culture does not have such rituals and which leads to the higher divorce rates as a % of population in the western World. But still surprised that the Indian girl in the extreme right did not appreciate " Karwa chowth" ritual. By the way karwa chowth is also celebrated by multiple relegions including the Sikhs also

one thing to keep in mind while watching this movie: ranvijay is a GREY character - that's how he's character was written. some things he does are justifiable whereas some as straight ahead toxic. he only cares about one thing and that is his FATHER. other all are just side-characters for him.
The song at the end was a masterstroke. It was meant to convey the uncomfortable and conflicted nature of having to brutally murder your own family (your cousin) in order to save your father. The song was like an emotional reckoning, the zenith, the point where the bottled up resentment and aggrieved feelings that both the protagonist and antagonist had for each other were finally being addressed in a fittingly brutal manner. It was also mainly about conveying the emotional intensity of literally "burning down the world" in order to avenge someone attempting to take your loved one away from you.
1. There are no heroes, they are all animals in the movie. Just some small animals and some are wild animals. Ranveer Kapoor's father is a rich person and when you are rich, the police do not touch you. Slapping women, abusing women, and ruling over women are not Indian culture, it is just in the movie. Everywhere in the world, there are abusive people who mistreat women; it is a universal truth. Women have the right to marry anyone, but in this movie, Ranveer's character shows more masculinity by choosing who will marry his sister because he thinks he can find a better person for her. In the real world, not every person is good. It's not Barbie Land; the real world is like a real forest with evil people. That's why we must be aware, there are real bad people living, just because you don't witness them doesn't mean they don't exist. Songs have deep meaning, and real Indian people understand their meaning. Every song in this movie has a purpose. Like in the last airport fight scene, the song is about family. The two brothers, Abhay and Ranveer, are enemies but they are fighting for family revenge. But the reality is they are brothers from the same family. That's why the emotional song plays during the fight. Also, in the axe fight scene, the 'Arjun Velly' song is an old Indian folk song used in Punjabi war times to encourage soldiers, and there's a real meaning behind that song. Not all Indian fathers are like that, you are just generalizing. All Indian fathers and parents spend time with their children, but they also need to work, that's why they have short time. But whenever they get time, they stay with them. Fun fact: Indian fathers are much closer to their daughters, and Indian mothers are close to their sons. If you live in India, you know that, but you are living in the US, that's why you can't understand. Religion is not the main point. Everything is wrong with every person in this movie, but in Ranveer's character's mind, whatever he does is right. Bobby Deol's grandfather changes his religion because he wants to leave everything related to his family behind. This is his motto, it's simple. The gun dealer speaks Marathi; there are different languages used in this movie. Vijay loves his father because his father is a superhero to him, and he wants his father's praise or recognition. Ranveer's character is not good; you should not learn anything from his character. Everyone in this movie is a wrong person, and everyone has serious problems, but it's just a movie. This is not Indian reality. To fully enjoy and understand this movie, you must be Indian or live in India. Just because you have Indian blood doesn't mean you become Indian; you cannot understand Indian culture. Foreigners living in India are much more knowledgeable than those who do not live in India.
Haven't watched the reaction yet but did they really say thatslapping women is part of Indian culture??? What the hell? I mean its completely fine if you don't like a movie. Despite the people in the comment section acting like brats lots of people here didn't like it. But that doesn't mean you say such nonsense. Also India is an umbrella of subcultures so it might be part of your experience but that doesn't mean you can generalize it and call it "Indian culture" coz worshipping godesses and little girls are also part of Indian culture. It has to do with individual families, strata of society and many other factors just like anywhere else in the world. Slapping is frowned upon and definately a big NO-NO in my community and some other communities. What can be generalized as a "cultural" thing is parents slapping their kids - boys and girls both. And you can have your opinion on that but that's a completely different thing.
the gun dealer was speaking marathi one of the main language of maharastra[india] and overall movie there were 5 language going hindi, english, punjabi, telugu, marathi and this movie was tight slap on feminist and woke

Three brothers represent India's partition. Muslims chose and created an Islamic country with Sharia law from India, so Pakistan formed, while Hindus chose secular India, and Sikhs also came from Pakistan to join secular India. But all these three brothers came from the same mother, ancient Indian civilization; that way, they are represented as the same family. However, Sikhs and Hindus joined forces after independence against war started by Islamic Pakistan and Islamic terrorist attacks in the last 77 years. Probably, this movie is trying to say that in this movie, they have all religious stereotypes, not just Islam. Muslims have the most polygamous marriages in the Indian subcontinent, so it represents correctly. Religious conversion means probably when Islamic invaders came to India, most elites from the north got converted to get special privileges and escape from the non-Muslim tax system (jizyah).

Well i know people have been hating on this video a lot cause they think this movie is actually supposed be good. Okay let me phrase it right this movie is good but in a bad way, from what i understand the main character have severe ocd and he is very picky about everything and his obsession with his father was the main thing that has been portrayed in the movie dont feel like your confused reaction to this movie was wrong its actually very normal and this movie is supposed to be a trashy over the top drama and i think the reason Indian people defend this movie so much is because the main character is quote in quote “an alpha” so emotionally immature guys who dont understand what the movie is actually supposed to be love it so much cause it represents family power and guns and violence. Anyway yeah i dont know if anybody is going to read this comment but i left it anyway.
Animal name itself says about this movie .... How animal survive killing other animals..where there is no law, police, society, plans.... Where the survival instinct is only to fight ur way
Perfect example of “not every movie made specifically in a country specific language is meant for the global audience” if it were to be watched by global audiences, it would have been dubbed in English just like the K Drama.

Looking at how Sandeep Reddy made Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh I was a fan previously, and thought this would be a very realistic movie like his previous works. I saw the big gun and thought maybe action will be unreal but story will be realistic. I think this could have been a serious masterpiece if they removed all those unnecessary topics like underwear, catheter, russian, pubic hair, etc that had nothing to do with the story.
This movie got all the hype because of the controversy it generated. The liberals of India lost their minds because of extreme misogyny while the giga chads loved it because people called it misogynistic; while in reality this is a pretty average movie nothing special. Too long for my liking. There have been so many good movies this year in India that are not Bollywood like manjummel boys, brahmayugam, aavesham. Even from hindi cinema there is Merry Christmas (neo-noir black comedy), last year there was 12th fail which came at the same time around this shit

Boys have started fasting as well. If Karwachauth is stupid then so is any other fast for ex ramdan as stupid as well. Can you call Ramadan stupid?

Fasting is good but you can't deny that it's stupid to do such a thing to prolong the age of your better half , more stupid when you are not fully healthy but still you have to do it because of peer pressure.

This has a strong foundation from Mahabharata, where a blind father who is fond of his 100 sons, turned blind eye to his sons' atrocities and lead to the destruction of the entire family/clan.

one thing to keep in mind while watching this movie:
ranvijay is a GREY character - that's how he's character was written.
some things he does are justifiable whereas some as straight ahead toxic.
he only cares about one thing and that is his FATHER.
other all are just side-characters for him.
Can't tell that to condescending Americans with a self-loathing brown sepoy amongst them who has made them think its fine to condescend other cultures
And you can have your opinion on that but that's a completely different thing.
the gun dealer was speaking marathi one of the main language of maharastra[india]
and overall movie there were 5 language going hindi, english, punjabi, telugu, marathi
and this movie was tight slap on feminist and woke

And that's the reason why most ppl are triggered by this movie but they can't say the reason. That's why they keep crying about mysoginy and all😂😂

51:00 girl said "they haven't done any attacks" with a straight face 😂😂
HItler used the hakenkreuz (Chritian hooked cross). its nothing to do with ancient hindu symbol Swastika
Tha last shot 😂 Theatre was laughing and first time In my life Whole theatre audience Clapped i dont know why but this movie bangs in theatre not in tv ✌️
That last gesture was for critics of the movie.
This is the best reaction ever😂😂😂😂
This is how a son should be. Not to kill everyone but to do everything possible
John Wick is fine
Animal is not fine.
WHY??
Wahi toh I like the fact ki isme ranbir ko villian time hi show kiya h that after murder everyone is calling him murderer rather than praising it meanwhile almost all movie hero kills many people and at end he is getting his happy ending
L English people.. Animal is much better than some stupid non logical hollywood movies🤣😂
