- Whether you loved it or hated it, the Twilight series of books and movies was hugely successful. The first film came out back in 2008, and if you’ve gone back and re-watched it lately, there are probably some things you caught as an adult that you didn’t notice when you were younger.
Some of the missed stuff is symbolism and foreshadowing that may have gone over your head the first time, while other things are technical goofs that are easy to catch now. Dear haters,
For some reason incomprehensible, people used to love the Twilight series and some still do. The books opened a whole new world of romance and fantasy and girls loved it. The movies blew up to be a big deal, but, failed to capture the heart of the books.
Several years later, I am not blinded by the 'fantastic' love story,aware of all the flaws in the plot and still discover many cringey moments every now and then about the series, still, I hold the series close to my heart, because it brings me memories of a time when I was younger, and more naive. It reminds me of my innocence and youth... It reminds me of a time when I deemed characters in a book and the actors who portrayed them were my whole life( Ridiculous, I know!) But, I believe a lot of girls can relate with me.
P.S: The series is NOT the best, nor is it flawless. However, Meyer has tried to build as many backdrops, cover as many questions and endeavoured to tie as many loose ends as she can. It would bring such a relief to those who still like Twilight to not have to explain all the whys and whats and hows all the time.

I just watched the other day for the first time since it came out. I noticed a lot of cringey stuff for sure. I was a die hard Twilight fan. Read all the books. I liked the movies too but, didn't think they were done as well as they could have been, but I can totally relate to what you're saying. I don't care how bad the movies seem as I get older and notice stuff. The series is close to my heart because it was a part of my childhood. No one can ever take that away from us, no matter how much shit they talk on the movie.

1 thing I noticed when I first watched Twilight and nobody else seemed to was that Jacob is actually the creepiest person in the saga. Firstly he follows Bella around, randomly turning up at her house or school normally for no reason other than to make a scene, he constantly tries to interfere in her life and implies several times that shes not capable of making decisions herself. When he doesn't get his own way he throws tantrums. And he sexually assaults her.
And let's not forget he imprints on a newborn child. If we are to say that this is a quote 'Wolf thing' that he has no control over then we still have to acknowledge that a full grown adult selecting a newborn baby as its mate is pretty sick and creepy.
Oh and before anyone starts bitching....

I am 22 year old and i still think the books are good if not great. She is not a bad writer and people just sort of follow the wagon when something is said enough times on the media. I still remember a chapter in Twilight eclipse where they talk about the origins of the werewolves and how they came to be. And to this day i still get the goosebumps when i think about it. It was just so well done ! And the whole books have an original feel to it which is something that is rare in these year's recent books. Say you want but i enjoyed the books and the movies (3 4 5th one) I gotta admit the first two were cringy but the last one was EPIC.

No, it is an awful book. You just identify with it, so you are willing to overlook a LOT of things. If you connected with something in it - great. Good on you. That doesn't mean it's not a mediocre story line and poor writing. P. S. A lot of things you like about it are more than likely "borrowed" from other works, so there's that, too, you know.
Lady Divine I agree. The writing wasn't that great. Bella had no personal character development and to anyone else who disagrees no - becoming a vampire isnt development cause her personality was still the same. Plus there was no explanation as to why Edward really loved Bella and vise versa
Well i do agree that there is a lot of other books with amazing writing and rich character development. But twilight is still a good book to me. I for one do tend to overlook a book's flaws, that a lot of other people might not. But if i connect with a book then it's the whole point of reading a book. Isn't that the point of reading novels ? to connect. If any writer managed to do that then i applaud them.
Agreed. I love the books, people can say what they want about her writing but it won't change my mind on how I feel about them. The movies changed directors' a lot and I feel like that had an affect on the movies. The 3rd movie was the best in my opinion when it came to the acting and the overall feel of the movie.

When Meyer talks about the "hunter" in the beginning, she is refering to the preface in the book where the reader gets a glimpse of the showdown in the ballet studio. I was 12 years old when I fell in love with the movie. After watching the movie a million times I decided to read the book. Twilight was what got me into reading tbh but it wasn't until like 1-2 years later that I decided to start reading other books besides twilight. Reading other books, learning, and growing made realize there's better things out there. I am 21 years old now and like to watch videos like this just for nostalgia reasons. But damn, I can't believe I used to like this shit.

It was the first book franchise I ever read and fell in love with (don't judge me I was 10) but it's still 90% horrible and cringeworthy
I feel kind of the same way, books did such a deep impression on me, made me fall in love with them. And then it began to be famous, and the movies began to exist, and suddenly sometimes which had mysteriously influenced me and which I had truly loved, like..., confusely, privately (I was 10 or 11), by the solitary experience of reading something that none of my friends new, began to reveal itself be 90% cringeworthy and scandalously unsubtle and teen... Whereas Harry Potter, which I read as an even younger child, has never bounced back or produced any reaction of that kind on me. It has always stayed so clean, so deep, so full with meaning.
I had read books before but the twilight saga is what really got me into reading, I see now how sucky the series is but I loved it as a 12 year old. And it will always be special to me

I've lived in Washington State all my life -- born and raised in Seattle, and now I live in Port Townsend. My father had a job from my late elementary school years until my first year or so of college which brought him to Port Angeles, and we almost always ate dinner at Bella Italia; of course, I always joked that we ate there BEFORE I read the books. And yes, Bella's mushroom ravioli is on the menu. And no, they didn't use the real restaurant in the film -- it's actually much more intimate and is quite beautiful on the inside.

I just binged all these a couple weeks ago. It had it's cheesy moments but it wasn't that bad.
I just rewatched all of the movies this month after YEARS and I still enjoyed it. Just in a different way. And I laughed a lot more now than when I was a preteen and everything was so serious and dramatic.

That would take like three or more videos aside. I mean, cinema therapy has 4 and they only covered the first two. Their analysis is great for using it in a class about toxic relationships.

An other thing i didn't notice was that dick joke in the first movie when they talk about the rain. When bella says she doesn't like anything wet and cold, and edward is just laughing but bella doesn't get the joke.

I very clearly remember being in that theater when I was about 14 and am fairly certain not a single person missed any of these "hidden" elements of the film, nor did they miss the awkwardness of Bella and Edward's first encounter. There were a lot of laughs during that scene.

Yeah, I think they did that on purpose because in the book, if I remember correctly, Bella said something about how the whole crowd seemed to disappear like they were the only ones there. Like the completely forgot the crowd, and it was just them, enjoying the moment. Kinda like that stuff.. :)

Just watch the last movie with the Volturi, they are much more relatable. Their powers are also pretty cool too, Alec's mist and Jane's pain. The movie gets better if you close you eyes and plug your ears! :)

I thought this was going to be about plot holes, stupid and cringe moments that we didn't notice as kids or teens. But now looking back on the film as adults. It's hard to fathom how we didn't see the films many flaws.
Damn, back when I was in elementary school, I adored this movie. I feel so embarassed now. The only original thing about this movie are the traits of the vampires. They're not that amazing, though, but anyway. Bella is entirely awful, and the rest of the characters are not that great as well. I really think Twilight doesn't even deserve a review on my part. I think many people agree it was a disaster. And wait, I'm not a hater. I just don't like the movie. I usually don't like to criticise movies badly because I try to see something good in every movie, but this one managed to make *me* disgusted, at least now when I have some brains to figure it out. This movie is for 12-15 year-olds (and for all those who feel like it).

I remember in the eclipse book Charlie chief swan of the forks pd condoned unwanted physical contact, and the person assaulted was his daughter.
the apple on the cover is actually a flashback of when Edward saves the apple from falling and catches it in his hands at the salad bar. the way he holds the apple when he catches it is the same image as the book cover.
