- Can and should you use an overdrive pedal with bass??
I'm this video I demo a Kokko Overdrive pedal (which is a cheap but very good Tube Screamer overdrive clone) through some bass guitars to see if you get a usable bass tone
My thoughts going in were that you'd likely not get the best result as Tube Screamers are known for cutting some low end and adding some sparkle in the upper mids, however I was pleasantly surprised by the results, which gave a saturated sound not unlike plugging a bass guitar into a guitar amp with minimal loss of bass frequencies
But the recordings speak for them selves
So you guys tell me what you think!

I'm here to show off I was that comment haha. Nice demo, that subtle effect might be perfect for playing bass in a band with distorted guitars. I have a jazz bass too, but that Ricky sounds very thicc even with the overdrive on!

yeah it's definitely something that could be used in a lot of songs
yeah, especially tuned down to C# standard it gets really heavy sounding

yeah even here it was pretty pricey, especially with the modifications I made to it... but compared to the real deal it was so worth it ! haha

Cutting the bass sound isn’t an issue for me. I run 2 amps, one clean, and one with pedals.
Hey man, how is your cRickenbacker doing? I always loved the autumn burst with the vintage checkerboard binding. I have a 2016 4003 that I’m having trouble with the stereo output. I don’t know if it’s the Jack or the cord.
it's great ! still has some fretwork issues, but with the string action being a little higher, and then tuning it down is plays really well
oh no, it could be either honestly, ricks have weird jacks that i wouldn't be surprised if they malfunctioned

Scoop it a bit and hopefully grab a vintage P with the single pup, you would be just about dead on. The jazz imitates it well, though.
