- Welcome back!
We always ask for bass specific pedals and when we do get one, we say it's not like the original effect it was based on... Is this justifiable? Find out in this video!
Signal chain:
. van Loo bass prototype medium scale 5 string bass
. Becos Twain compresor
. Overdrive pedal
. GP Lightstone Tube 2 preamp (no eq)
. 50% blend with Shift-Line CabZoneX (EL84PP amp and 12" EVM cab)

Hell yeah, every other demo I've seen of this pedal either has it set so low there's no change, or so high its all fuzz like a big muff. Thanks for actually explaining and trying different sounds
Thank you for your kind words and sharing your insight.
What I really like about this effect is that the treble doesn't sting your ears, but it still retains the attack of your picking.
Fantastic overview, love that demo at the end of the video. Thought I was already subscribed but I guess I was only following you on IG. Definitely subbed now after this video!
Hi Chris!!! What can I say? It was videos like yours that got me started. Lovely to have you here!
I actually chose to buy this pedal and add it to my pedalboard all because of this review. Excellent video!
Great! Enjoy the pedal.
Great demo and really cool pedal.
Yes, it deserves more attention!
Damn, you deserve 10 times the views!
Thanks! So nice of you!
Gotta say, that intro sounded fantastic.
holy, the stuff you played around 4:00 is so good. i might have to rip you off a bit and make something like that. when you do the call and response, wow it just sounds so good
Thanks! Sure, happy it inspires you.
Any possibility of doing a side by side comparison of the Ibanez TS9B and the Ibanez PH7 bass overdrive?
Amazing tones and inspiring compositions! Thanks for the channel WB
Hi! Sold my TS9B… unfortunately I wasn’t impressed enough to keep it. There are soooo many new options out there, especially from smaller builders, that it’s kind of a shame not to give them a try. But from what I can tell, the PH7 sound more scooped, whereas the TS9B more mid focused with a sharper saturation.
Very nice demo, man. Made me plug in my ZOOM B1X4 for the screamer sound.
Thanks, I really enjoyed the ending song, is it yours ?
So the zoom has a bass tube screamer option then? Nice! Yes the last song (7/8 time signature) is my creation... 😊
@@thewetterbass ZOOM has a few boxes, dark glass-like stuff, too.I mostly get an upright type sound for myself and adapt to what ever the song needs, usually commissioned by the customer.
Just found your UA-cam site. Lots to catch up. I noticed during you Berenger Fuzz pedal review that you placed your EQ after the fuzz. Have you done a video on pedal order. Love the sound of the Ibanez overdrive
Welcome! Love your name (a bit scary though 😅).
Yes the Ibanez is great, perhaps one of my favoite in this range so far. About the behringer: the eq comes after the fuzz to sculpt the sound. Finally, about the order of EQ/fuzz/blend, have a look at the following video: ua-cam.com/video/ur1FkHkFQGI/v-deo.html
See you!
@@thewetterbass awesome. and don't worry I am not a Government Tax Agent more of an Anti Agent.
I just checked out the 9 different ways to use the Muff & EQ with Line Selector. How are you mixing in a clean sound from line B if your not patching from B send into B return. Does the Level knob actually do anything if there is no signal going through the Channel? I just couldn't really hear any clean. I will try it for myself. Option 7 & 8 sound good to me.
If nothing is plugged in either loop, it’s the clean signal that’s blended (if correct path is selected on the LS2’s right knob). What I mean is that you can blend the loops using their individual volume knobs, but if you do not plug anything in either loop then that volume is just a clean volume (can act as clean boost too) that you can blend with the other loop with effect(s).
modern drive kicked ass
Amazing demo!!
I'm really happy I found your channel!
There aren't enough industry professionals doing high-quality bass demos like this (I'm a big fan of Patrick Hunter's work) and I'm really looking forward to watching your channel grow!!
Cheers,

Thanks for your kind and motivating words!!! Many overdrives coming up so stay tuned… 😋
People : "We want an overdrive pedal with a classic tone but for bass." Ibanez : "OK we made the Tube screamer for bass!" People : "But... but it's not like the one for guitars?!" ... I swear to God...! Nice overdrive/gain boost with a cool EQ on top. It's pricey for an overdrive for sure, but the EQ is definitely worth it. On clean, you cut through the mix when you don't need overdrive; boost the drive a little or a lot according to what you need. Leave it on clean 100% of the time with a loud band IMHO, or even for funk slap. This is honestly the only pedal you need as a bass player tbh the hate is ridiculous. It doesn't do a RAT as well as the real thing, and it doesn't do an EQ as well as an MXR or something, but what it does all those things 80% as good. And, it's a gorgeous paintjob, a lot better looking than the green monstrosity that the original TB9 is!
Wow! 👌🏻
[GAS intensifies]
Common problem… 😉
@@thewetterbass My wallet agrees _(coughtraitorcough)_
Sirve este pedal para guitar??
Lo siento, no lo sé… no lo probé! (Con guitarra 😉)
Try ...out of background music..only effect pedal sound
I will do a comparison of a group of pedals with direct sound (no music and no preamp/compressor/cab sims) soon, using a loop. But first I have to demo a pair of overdrive pedals more. Stay tuned! ✌🏻
I’d like to hear an old SM9 with the bass!
Up against a vintage RAT pedal, I’d love to hear it.
Hi! Lots of low end loss in rats, except some at full distortion. So I decided to make a bass specific rats shootout (hopefully for later this year or beginning of next) that do help maintain or even boost the low end. I am rounding up some options.
However, about your comment: as you can imagine, the vintage rat will sound more distorted than the Ibanez, a more “polite” option.
@@thewetterbass : I’ve been a distributor for certain pedals and speakers for years and love a lot of RAT pedals for bass but nothing beats a real channel switching tube or solid state preamp for clean and dirty sounds. However I will say my super old GK400RB with an old RAT into the front does it for me too. Great video and demo, brother
