Never knew Anka sang with Basie...that's quite an accomplishment for the young lad in '64 and would have been worth the price of admission to see. Just another indication that this guy was a cut above most of his peers - just as he is at playing this game.
Betty was an extraordinary woman! I used to watch reruns of her show “Life With Elizabeth” among other works. Her love and charity for animals really made me love who she was even more! I don’t think she ever got over her loss of Allen Ludden. I think he was her true love. But she made it through to almost her 100th birthday. May she rest in peace! ❤️🏆

Paul Anka is a good player. He had at least a few seemingly “psychic” moments. But Betty was a step above; she probably practiced at home. Or is just really smart!

Aw so sweet. Allen was a cutie with those glasses! Even here i can notice the back portion of Betty’s hair looks like a wig. All the fullness below her ears and out back is always a different hue, as if shes wearing a hairpiece. Very noticeable throughout the years.

That's not the act of a guy who "doesn't want to be there" because his "agent pushed him into it." Back when game shows were so much fun to watch. My parents grew up with these game shows. I watch a lot of these with my mom. I remember I would watch the 100,000 dollar pyramid on GSN. That was such a great show. I’ve always liked the shows that really make you think.
Paul Anka was a singer-songwriter before there was such a thing as singer-songwriters. He also wrote Buddy Holly's last hit "It doesn't Matter Anymore". It was a posthumous hit after Holly was killed and donated all the writing royalties of the song to Holly's widow. He made up much more over that by writing The Tonight Show theme song for Johnny Carson.
