  • I love Gridfinity and explain the three levels of gridfinity and how you can use it to organize your space.

    Great video, but i'm missing one very important thing: Links to models (Baseplates, Basic bins, OpenScad file, F360 plugin, etc...) - Not that i'm not able to find them, but since you've showed it, it would be nice to have direct links for others, that can struggle with finding things ;)

    Hello, first time viewer here. I like your style and also the fact that you do NOT try to be funny. Too many Ytuber are trying and it's frankly annoying.
    That being said, I'd like to know your opinion on Multigrid if you ever consider. Thanks for sharing with all of us

    Great vid. I found Gridfinity a couple weeks ago and i cant stop printing. It fits almost perfect into my Ikea Alex drawers 7x12 grid with a 20mm spacer at the back. takes so long to print things on my ender3 v3 se but toatly worth it

    any idea where I can find a more in depth tutorial on building custom bins? This wasn't in dept enough and to fast for me to understand what the heck is happening lol

  • @Dalroth
    @Dalroth Місяць тому +4

    I definitely think you need a balance of custom and generic bins. I went crazy and printed a bunch of custom bins that now live in my failed prints box. The generic bins turned out to be far more useful in practice. That said, certain things that I use often and are very fiddly definitely benefited from a custom bin (e.g. my soldering iron and my calipers).

      @Arne.Bornheim  Місяць тому

      Yeah it‘s definitely the best to have a mix. I definitely love custom bins but you can’t overdo it…

    What about an attachable rotating organization system that stacks, like a splinnable tree

    • @ThisisDD
      @ThisisDD Місяць тому

      There are bin systems to recycle old filament spools. I wonder if any of them stack too? I know there are a few that have lazy Susan

  • @ThisisDD
    @ThisisDD Місяць тому +2

    Lower your infill settings. Some of those are way dense. Probably a factor in your filament use complaint

    • @Arne.Bornheim
      @Arne.Bornheim  Місяць тому +1

      What settings and infill pattern are you using?
      I usually use 10%
      I have tried less but ended up having problems. It was with a bad filament so I might have learned the wrong lesson that I can’t go lower…

    • @ThisisDD
      @ThisisDD Місяць тому

      @@Arne.Bornheim largely depends on what you're printing. I like to use the newer "Support Cubic" they added recently to Orca. It's pretty neat. I usually go with 5-10% unless the model needs extra rigidity. Even then it's usually better to increase the wall loops instead at that point

    • @marcel2258

    i think gridfinity is not the answer for the grey bins you have. and if you need to replace the gridfinity bins time to time you colud have replace grey bins too

    • @Arne.Bornheim
      @Arne.Bornheim  Місяць тому

      true! the grey bins were more meant to show a way of sorting things that went really wrong because stuff was just always thrown on top and the system didnt really change with the use

    It's so disappointing to see Zack Freedman getting all the credit when all he did was take a system by Alexandre Chappel ua-cam.com/video/CHFK5sY8ToE/v-deo.html. All Zack did was make a free, parametric version.

    • @fogfestival
      @fogfestival Місяць тому +2

      he specifically gives credit and mentions Alexandre. And you really thing Alexandre was the first to come up with this?

    • @DavydAtkins
      @DavydAtkins Місяць тому +1

      @@fogfestival I watched the video and didn't see Alexandre get mentioned, just Zack
      And no, I don't think Alexandre was the first. But Zack made a point of how he took Alexandre's idea and just made it free and parametric and now he's the one getting all the credit which seems wrong to me.

    • @Arne.Bornheim
      @Arne.Bornheim  Місяць тому

      Hi David, thanks for your feedback! I understand what you mean. For me, gridfinity is the best because of all the community modules. The base system with bins is nice but nothing too special. Totally agree that Alexandre made something fairly similar as the base version of gridfinity though. (and I think @fogfestival meant that Zack mentioned alexandre in his video, not me 😊 )

    • @DavydAtkins
      @DavydAtkins Місяць тому +1

      @@Arne.Bornheim "Totally agree that Alexandre made something fairly similar as the base version of gridfinity though" Zack explicitly says he took the design from Alexandre in his first video.
      Also, it's Davyd, not David

    • @wojtek-33
      @wojtek-33 5 днів тому

      Versions of Alexandre's bins have been around since before Alexandre was born. It is called iterating. Zack gets the credit he deserves for making his version.
